General :: App That Not Allow Root Device

Aug 16, 2013

When i've tried to play pvp tournament on eternity warriors 2 a message tell me that i can't play cause my device is "jailbroken"(i think means rooted). I've tried temp unroot with ota rootkeeper and tried to uninstall super user and reboot phone(it's galaxy note 2 lte, on stock roms, just root with framaroot, when temp unroot, in phone stats my device is "normal" and i can receive ota), but nothing the game tell me the same message. i've got same prob with other games of game evil, but when temp unroot they work. There is a way to play games and app that not allow root device on root device? with a temp unroot or something like this?

General :: Novo 7 Elf ICS 4.0.3 / ADB Is Root But Why No Root On Device

Jan 30, 2012

I have Novo 7 Elf ICS 4.0.3, adb is root, but when i try to SU in shell or use Root Check app on the device i got "permission denied", and all root application don't work (root explorer, etc ...).

Superuser is installed and running, but it seems that su doesn't launch Superuser at all. it just wait for 15 s and then "permission denied"

I've used Tasselhof-RootScript.

what i can do?

I've tried change su user/group and Superuser apk with no success.

General :: ADB Root Access On Unrooted Device?

Feb 2, 2014

I have an UTOK 700Q tablet running android 4.2.2 and the manufacturer has made an update to the firmware that requires a full wipe but i want to backup some apps before that.

I've found a way to do a full backup on android via adb on an unrooted device, but is a bit tedious (currently in progress) and while doing it i've noticed that adb has root access:

Now this made me wonder if i can just install titanium backup from adb with root permissions as a system app (or something, not really sure if it's correct, but i hope you understand what i want) so i can backup my apps easier from there.

Also, as a side note, using root checker i see that busybox and su are installed but no SuperUser is found, what does this really mean?

General :: View / Control Android Device From PC (without ROOT)

May 9, 2014

What I need is a way to control Android device (s) from PC via Wi-Fi. I found a lot of apps (and Desktop programs) to do it, but I didn't found a way to View OR control the Android device WITHOUT ROOT. I work on the company which asked me to find a way to do this without root with their Android devices. After googling a lot I started to think that where is no way to do this, because either way I need to root them . Is it true or maybe there is somewhere an app which could do this? It doesn't care if it's paid or not.

I have downloaded and tester these apps:
MyMobiler - Doesn't work because when I restart Android device, app doesn't start WiFi, just keyboard mode only. I need that when the app starts it should run itself and start WiFi automatically.
VMLite VNC Server - Don't know why but it didn't worked for me. Just cannot start server from the browser.

General :: AOCOS PX102- Attempting To Root But Can't Find Device Via ADB

Feb 1, 2013

So there is very little documentation on the PX102 online as of yet, let alone AOCOS products in general (at least on english sites which I have scoured). First off, I'm currently using OSX 10.6.8 and have the current Android developer tools package that was downloaded from their site about three hours ago (just to be clear). The PX102 is running 4.1.1 and the tablet is a fresh restore (I had a number of apps downloaded but considered that some may have been interfering...).

I will be attempting to root via psneuter exploit from SuperOneClick v2.3.3, however in the terminal when I execute "adb devices" it returns "List of devices attached" with blank space underneath...

I have tried to kill/restart server, run "adb usb", and a couple other small things to no avail. Yes, usb debugging mode is enabled as well.

I would really like to attempt/execute this all via OSX, however name an OS and I have it at my disposal...

HTC EVO 4G :: Device Trying Toast's Root Method - Undo Damage

Sep 23, 2010

Here's what I've figured out. I tried doing Toast's root method for linux and the directions weren't idiot proof because I screwed them up. I've explained how far I've gotten in other threads. If that's relevant just ask and I'll explain exactly what I did.

Anyway my phone does the basics. It allows me to make phone calls, text, and look at the internet on the phone so this isn't an emergency but it I am worse off than I was before I tried to root because I can no longer use easytether.

I had no problem with easytether prior to the root attempt, and it still works when I hook it up with my wifes untampered evo. with my phone but with my wife's evo, I've never messed with that one, I have no trouble connecting with easy tether.

Some of the things I've noticed about the device since the attmept...
-I can't update to 2.2 via the OTA or any other method, my device says no updates are available.

-Simple root wasn't so simple, the phone never shut off and rebooted into boot screen like the red screen said it would in step 1.

How do I reset the device to the way it was the day it was purchased. I've got everything I need backed up. I'm ready to reset just tell me how.

Motorola Droid X :: SetCpu Stop Working With 2.2 OTA Root Device

Oct 22, 2010

The SetCpu suddenly stop working with my Droid X 2.2 OTA. So I decided to troubleshooting by clearing the data, clearing the cache, uninstalling, reinstalling, un-rooting the device and re-rooting the device. I'm able to get other "Rooted Apps" to recognize permission ,but SetCpu wont even ask for permission during the installation process after picking "Auto Recommend". After "Auto Recommend" it just goes into the app and all I can see is a blank black screen. I'm able to launch the widget app once in a while but it seems like the program is working in the background. I have emailed the dev about this rare problem and sent him some logcat one being the installation process and the other one is adding the widget to the home-screen and then launching the app through the widget. I'll be including those attachment if someone with android code skills willing to help me solve this problem. Edit: I did a titanium backup of SetCpu when it was working fine 10/6/10. I did both the app +data restoration and on restart of the device it is able to ask for root permision and it shows the SetCpu bar notification icon. This tells me that the app is working in the background but when I launch it up all I'm able to see is a black screen.

Motorola Droid :: Minimum Required For Root Access - Any Device

Aug 11, 2010

All this talk about different rooting methods and how some are unreliable makes me want to learn exactly what's required.

So far from looking at different exploits and methods to root different phones, the most simplest to understand is Peter Alfonso's Galaxy S rooting method posted today it seems all you need is to find a way on your device to install the following:

/system/bin/su (is this included in stock and replaced or just doesn't exist in stock systems?)
/system/app/Superuser.apk (it seems the Android OS has a "super user access" intent that this listens for -- so when apps try to access su this picks app it up?)

Motorola Droid : No SetCPU - Non Root Access To Device Correct?

I have a probably silly and stupid question. I did the sbf file to bring my phone back to stock (I have to give my phone to a family member, long story). Anyway, when I did the sbf file it recovered all my apps, and one of them was SetCPU.

SetCPU won't run unless it has root access correct? I mean the fact that it was installed (and then uninstalled) it can't change anything without root access to the device correct?
