i recently got my first device using android 4.2.2 and i see that the only video resolution for youtube that i can select is HQ but i cant select for example 720p or 1080p. Does 4.2.2 is missing this youtube feature? I know that older ios version you couldnt select it but with ios 7 is available.

After using both the EVO and SGS for weeks, I find the SGS inferior to the EVO in very few ways. The most major one that it being a 3G phone, the Internet speed is of course slower than the EVO's (I have 4G in my area, Los Angeles). I enjoy watch Youtube and SprintTV on the EVO as both the resolution and streaming experience very good, however after watch the low res Youtube on the SGS a few times, I can't make myself watch it under 3G anymore (wifi is better but still not as good as EVO on 4G). But since we can consistently get over 1 meg on 3G, why can't the SGS do better in Youtube video playback? Is there any program that can trick the phone in thinking it is on wifi and playback in higher resolution?

The custom rom is based on 4.2.2 but it has all apps of 4.4 like camera, launcher, calender, gallery etc. The problem I am having is that the camera app doesn't have any option to change video recording resolution. It always record video in 640x480 resolution. but in my stock rom It used to record video in 720p resolution.
I installed camera mx app from playstore and this app gives me 720p recording option. But I don't like this app. I want my default camera app to record 720p. can I edit camera.apk file to change the video recording resolution? or I will have to change some files of my custom ROM to change the resolution?

I watch a lot of Manga/Animi and they are low quality/resolution and look very blocky when playing at fullscreen, I have tried MX Player Pro and Dice Player.
Is there any Video Players that smooth the image or upscale or enhance the video during playback.

View 8 Replies View RelatedToday I was handed by 'support my tablet (Chinese rebranded) and they gave me the new model. Which, as already happened to me once on a rom for the old model (solved by changing rom) that the 'application youtube, when playing HD video upload of videos about 50sec and then stops charging, obviously causing blockage of the video.
I installed the 'latest version of youtube from the market (that I added because the series is not present) and in any case if I look at the videos from the site you can see ... like this? (obviously not a problem with the network or wifi)
if I disable the 'HQ and reactivated the video start again for another 50sec and then stops.
I noticed that the videos in Youtube looked much better on my new phone then on the previous phone and thought that the Youtube app was defaulting to the HD stream (previous phone had really crappy WiMax, new phone is LTE @14Mbps even inside a large warehouse). After toggling it on and off to be sure it was indeed off, it appears that it still is using a higher bitrate stream probably because of the great LTE. What is strange though, is that last week, Youtube was averaging 150-200MB a day after watching a couple of videos. This week, after toggling HD on/off, it's nearly 3-4x as much and rapidly using up my data for the month. The "regular" stream also doesn't look that much different at all from the "HD" stream, so it could be it's stuck on the HD stream because of the high bandwidth my LTE connection has (or something else).
I want to use a lower quality stream to conserve my data, but have not been able to find any way to do so within the Youtube app, or via a Xposed module. Is there any way to choose the video size at all on a Android device? I'd prefer to stick with the stock Google Youtube app (via some external control/option?), but if I have to use some other app to do so I will.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I find this really odd I was watching a YouTube video and using my Bluetooth headphones and the video was playing just fine - well then I switched it HQ and it only plays in the left ear then I switch it back off HQ and it played in both ears again.

There is allways this problem... with youtube.. while having working internet wifi/3G.
It says "no connection"

I have live wallpapers created (.apk files) but I cant figure out how to view them on my mac so that I can make a YouTube video of them (making a preview) Is it possible to convert them to a .mov file?
I've tried zipping and unzipping but it doesn't seem to ever actually play the live wallpaper although it plays on my android.
I current have the latest YouTube app on my tablet and phone (Nexus 10 and 4) and for some strange reason, after the recent upgrade to 4.4.11 of the app, YouTube would crash everytime I try to watch any video. Attempts to clean cache/data and revert to older version of the app were unsuccessful too although it would not crash.
I must also mention that my YouTube account was banned some time ago due to some lame reason with a few foreign variety show video clips I posted being reported. Long story short, I was able to still watch YouTube clips previously with the app, without being successfully signed in. Both of my devices are on stock 4.2.2 with custom kernel and rooted of course.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm a former iPhone user. I was happy with the iPhone but got bored with it. I'm still getting used the EVO. I love the screen size and the notification system. One thing I'm concerned about is the resolution. I've noticed in apps such as MLB At Bat it is not as crisp as the iPhone and the video in the app is not as crisp as it was on the iPhone. I don't think the resolution is bad but it concerns me that it will start to really bother me.

I send lots of text video messages. Before the 2.2 update, the MMS capable video had a decent resolution up to 30 seconds. Since the update, the resolution on the MMS setting (or the low setting) is horrible and almost too grainy to be visible. Is there any workaround? I tried taking just a very short high res. video but it won't let me text it.

I'd also like the UI to work like this: user clicks on an Upload button, user goes straight to Youtube upload intent (rather than picking from a Chooser), tag field is pre-filled for them.
Is this possible using ACTION_SENDTO?
