I current have the latest YouTube app on my tablet and phone (Nexus 10 and 4) and for some strange reason, after the recent upgrade to 4.4.11 of the app, YouTube would crash everytime I try to watch any video. Attempts to clean cache/data and revert to older version of the app were unsuccessful too although it would not crash.
I must also mention that my YouTube account was banned some time ago due to some lame reason with a few foreign variety show video clips I posted being reported. Long story short, I was able to still watch YouTube clips previously with the app, without being successfully signed in. Both of my devices are on stock 4.2.2 with custom kernel and rooted of course.

Not yet got my new Desire but I've watched several youtube clips showing fast and smooth browsing performance; I'm guessing these clips were showing phones connected over wifi.What's the browsing experience like on normal 3g when out and about?Is watching streaming video feasible for example?

Is the HTC Incredible capable of watching streaming video? For example, full FOX episodes, like Family Guy and such? Or is there an app for it?

Today I was handed by 'support my tablet (Chinese rebranded) and they gave me the new model. Which, as already happened to me once on a rom for the old model (solved by changing rom) that the 'application youtube, when playing HD video upload of videos about 50sec and then stops charging, obviously causing blockage of the video.
I installed the 'latest version of youtube from the market (that I added because the series is not present) and in any case if I look at the videos from the site you can see ... like this? (obviously not a problem with the network or wifi)
if I disable the 'HQ and reactivated the video start again for another 50sec and then stops.

I noticed that the videos in Youtube looked much better on my new phone then on the previous phone and thought that the Youtube app was defaulting to the HD stream (previous phone had really crappy WiMax, new phone is LTE @14Mbps even inside a large warehouse). After toggling it on and off to be sure it was indeed off, it appears that it still is using a higher bitrate stream probably because of the great LTE. What is strange though, is that last week, Youtube was averaging 150-200MB a day after watching a couple of videos. This week, after toggling HD on/off, it's nearly 3-4x as much and rapidly using up my data for the month. The "regular" stream also doesn't look that much different at all from the "HD" stream, so it could be it's stuck on the HD stream because of the high bandwidth my LTE connection has (or something else).
I want to use a lower quality stream to conserve my data, but have not been able to find any way to do so within the Youtube app, or via a Xposed module. Is there any way to choose the video size at all on a Android device? I'd prefer to stick with the stock Google Youtube app (via some external control/option?), but if I have to use some other app to do so I will.

I'm going on a trip soon and wanted to put some movies on my phone. I found some DVD ripping software, ripped The Dark Knight as MPEG4, and was thrilled when I saw the picture- it looked fantastic. Then I put my headphones in. Where's my sound?
Before this, I had the movie The Book of Eli on my computer, MPEG4. I put that on my phone- sound, but not video. Converted to H.263, got both, but video was terrible quality. Near unwatchable. Should I try converting to a different format? I mean, there has to be some way to get good quality video.

When playing music or watching video using the headphones that came with it, there is a lot of crackling and hissing. If you go back to the home screen, there is a high pitched whistling sound (almost as if you've placed a microphone next to a speaker and are getting feedback as a result.) I can't seem to get any FM radio stations either. I've tried three different sets of headphones as well as the set bundled with the Desire and all have the same problem. Is this a known issue or should I phone O2 and get it replaced.

Anyone else getting this error notice while watching online videos? For the most part, this doesn't happen for me in youtube vids, but any other internet vid site will prompt this error. I have been getting this problem since the 2.1 update... didn't get better or worse after I rooted to froyo 2.2 and overclocked to 1200mhz.

youtube... it worked before, then it just stopped connecting.
There is allways this problem... with youtube.. while having working internet wifi/3G.
It says "no connection"
-sync time
-remove adblock
-permissions... working on.
However, still the same problem.
Isn't there any developer, who know's how to track an apps interconnections with other apps. what the youtube app depends on, to run flawlessly.Also it would be really interesting to know, how to track that? What app needs what to work properly
I thing is, that my time in recovery mode is different... is there a possibillity to change the time in recovery? But is this really important ?It worked before without a specific recovery time.

I watch quite a few .mp4's on my Desire, and I'll really like to turn off the the backlight behind the physical buttons if possible, not so much to aid battery life but for the factor they are a bit annoying if you're watching something in the dark. Is this possible? My device isn't rooted.

I've noticed since I have updated to firmware 1.5 on my HTC Magic that I've been losing all types of audio intermittently.Example: I would be watching video on my Magic then the audio would suddenly cut out. This includes all types of notifications, alarms or ringtones.This is very disturbing cause it makes my phone very unreliable.I miss calls and messages and one time or another I overslept cause the alarm went off but there was no audio.I know its not a hardware issue cause once I reboot everything is normal again. I don't like rebooting all the time to fix this problem and worse you dont realize that you lost audio notifications until you do check your phone to discover you did.I've read on google forums of several other accounts of this but so far no solid solution.

I would like to create a video recorder and so far haven't figured out how to set parameters in order to successfully go through MediaRecorder.prepare() method. Executing the following method
public void start() throws IOException{
String state = android.os.Environment.getExternalStorageState();
if(!state.equals(Environment.MEDIA_MOUNTED))
{
throw new IOException("SD card is not mounted. It is " + state + ".");
}
File directory = new File(path).getParentFile();
if(!directory.exists() && !directory.mkdirs())
{
throw new IOException("Path to file could not be created.");
}
recorder.setVideoSource(MediaRecorder.VideoSource.CAMERA);
recorder.setOutputFormat(MediaRecorder.OutputFormat.THREE_GPP);
recorder.setVideoEncoder(MediaRecorder.VideoEncoder.H263);
recorder.setVideoFrameRate(15);
recorder.setVideoSize(176, 144);
recorder.setOutputFile(path);
recorder.prepare();
recorder.start();
this.state = VideoRecorderState.STATE_RECORDING;
}
it throws an exception on line recorder.prepare(). Does anyone know how to set parameters in order to be able to capture video?

I would like to be able to capture the video from an android phone camera, and then process this video. Processing involves adding a layer of AR to the live stream. Is this possible on android? Pretty sure it should be. I have looked at the android site [http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/media/index.html] but this seems to be concerned with video capture and storage. I would like to be able to play with the video pre-storage.

One of the alternative app stores is asking for unaltered, unedited capture from the app as a video. Plus I'm also interested in cleaner video than I get by focusing a camcorder on an Android on a table. Who knows how to do that? I think I found some posts that indicate Mark Murphy may have solved this with a tool that goes through DDMS. If so, I'll get that tool and donate.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a tutorial explaining how to capture the video from the camera on an Android device and then display the video in real time on the screen? I have looked up MediaRecorder, MediaPlayer, Videoview but they all seem concerned with recording audio/video to a file or playing audio/video from a file or a URL. I simply want to be able to take the data from what the camera is seeing and display it on the screen.

Does anyone knows some convinient method to capture video from OpenGL app on Android device? For example can we capture video from a view, opengl view? I just stopped on: 1) We can get frames using glReadPixels. (No video on this step?) 2) MediaRecorder can encode video, but how can we provide it our raw source, if possible? 3) Any working ports of ffmpeg(for example) or other encoding library? There are some tutorials of portng ffmpeg to use withing NDK. So, having raw frames and working port of ffmeg we can create video? Any issues on this step? Anyone managed to port any encoding library successfully?
