Feb 12, 2012I want to modify the stock ICS launcher (like Trebuchet, Nova, etc. did). How can I do this? I understand that source code of Launcher from Google cannot be opened in Eclipse like an ordinary application (because it uses private APIs). So how does Cyanogenmod team do this?

Oct 10, 2013Why isn't there any modded version of trebuchet? On any CM rom with 68 ram or less device, another third party launcher consumes 50 mb ram which is just a waste where there is a stock launcher. SO why using third party like Nova or apex? Well Trebuchet doesnt offer even basic customization? LIke changing icon, app drawer grid,unread notifications etc etc.
I dont know why CM team doesnt update it. Its the same since god knows how long. Or as a matter of fact, no dev has worked ont hat who are working with CM roms!

Apr 18, 2014I just don't like using stock launcher or whatever you wanna call it, I've come accustomed to using third party launchers..if i'm using Apex or something.. does the stock launcher continue to run in the background and drain more battery then if I were to just use stock? Is there anyway to disable something if my phone is rooted so I can continue to use Apex but stop the default launcher from running as well? Or does android not work like that and if I have apex it cancels out the default launcher?

I run it on my Droid Incredible and I wouldn't want to run any other ROM, but since I have the paid versions of both ADW and Launcher Pro I don't have any need for the free version of ADW that comes packed with CM7. I found a mod that replaces ADW with the default Gingerbread launcher, and I've found that I prefer the stock launcher over any of the replacements I've tried. It's fast, minimal, and it just works. My only problem is that launcher2 only has five home screens, and I want seven. A Google search brought me to a version of the stock launcher with seven home screens, and I was able to install it on the latest CM7 nightly, but whenever I pressed the phone icon I got an error message telling me that "this application is not installed on your phone". I tried the launcher on both OMGB and OMFGB with the same results. Is there a version of the stock Gingerbread launcher out there that I can use on CM7 that has seven home screens and a working phone shortcut?

Apr 15, 2013I got my Huawei Honor at christmas. It worked fine for the first few months.The stock launcher started crashing. It required a reboot when it crashed. It happened fee times a day.
Then, one morning, it crashed again. As usual, I rebooted and put it in my pocket. One hour later, I noticed my phone was hot. It d been stuck on a reboot for an hour. It was not the battery. The battery was cold. But the bottom part where sd and sim cards are was burning hot. When I took the battery off, the phone cooled down quickly. It had it's warranty left, so I took it back to the store and they sent it to repair. The phone was reparied in under a week, and they said they had to update the OS. It is still the same 4.0.3. Keeps crashing and launcher and all custom launchers from play store keep crashing. how to root this phone.
And is there big chance of bricking this phone?

I have been trying to figure out which launcher I like best (love sense widgets but like look of launcher pro) and now I cant play with stock launcher. Also I get a force close on android system settings whenever I even try to get to it?

Aug 1, 2010I like the stock android launcher in Froyo, so since it isnt included i found the APK for it on XDA. It installed fine and everything but when i click the phone icon it says "this application is not installed on your device" or whatever. I'm assuming its looking for the stock froyo phone app. Anyone know of an APK out there for this, or any other way to fix this? I'd like to use that launcher but its kind of pointless if the phone button doesn't work.

Apr 8, 2010Running 2.0d for several days now and love it. Very quick and stable when using sense ui, however when I switch to the stock launcher some very strange stuff happens.
The thing takes 3-6 seconds to open from sleep, it just hangs on the background image with no icons or nothing. Then after that finally loads there is an even longer delay when you try to pull up the programs.
After you do this the first time the launcher becomes very quick and normal, that is until you put the phone back to sleep, when you put the phone back to sleep and re-open the whole process repeats.
This does not happen with sense, so is autokiller, killing launcher causing it to completely reload everytime? Is there a way to switch it where it kills sense and lets launcher run?

Jul 5, 2010I just installed Launcher Pro Beta, and am trying to "flavor" up my EVO. I really used the stock sense widgets that toggled 4g, wifi, BT, etc, but am unable to find them with the new home launcher. Am i unable to use the previously installed default widgets with this launcher/home? How about the default weather/clock combo, i can't seem to find a way to add it either. I liked the simple look of the Launcher Pro icons along the bottom, that's all i really wanted changed.
EDIT - Found it, will need Beautiful Widgets or something similar

Can anyone clue me in as to what that 2nd notification is below the blue Handcent icon? And can I get rid of it? I'd like to keep the text messages private is why I ask - I have Handcent and the stock Messages under App Protector. Jul 20, 2010I've been using LP for about a week (it's great BTW!) and this just started to happen so it could have something to do with the latest update. I've set LP at the default launcher and everything works great. However, if I ever long press the "home" button, go to an application, then press "home" again I get the popup asking me which launcher I want to use. I check the "set as default" box then select LP and everything is good again. It all works until I long press home the next time, then the remembered default is gone and I get the prompt again. I've tried rebooting, clearing defaults, etc.
