View 1 RepliesCan you please advise if development tools Eclipse, Android sdk, usb driver etc. are working properly under Windows 7 32 and 64 bit?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI accepted that it was bug in Helios but I now find that I'm now getting the same error under Eclipse 3.5
When I send a location from the DDMS perspective using the emulator control tab. I have a standard listener:
onLocationChanged(Location location){...}
If I break on the first line of this, having sent the lat/lon pair of 53.5/-3.0 from the DDMS tab, then the mLatitude/mLongitude in the location argument have changed to 53.508833/-3.005000 (6 dec places only shown).
The Android SDK is 2.2 in both and the target is Google APIs level 7. Does anybody else experience this or could offer a possible explanation? (It amounts to quite a big error in terms of metres on the map.)
I just upgraded from my old Droid X to a LG Spectrum.
Now whenever I connect it to USB, for some reason it won't show up in DDMS or Eclipse. I downloaded the USB driver from LG, and tried every kind of USB mode on the device. And yes I have USB debugging on.
When I plug my Android Backflip into my computer, Windows 7 recognizes it but it never shows up in Eclipse's DDMS. I have the USB Debugging checked under Development on the phone and I can see virtual devices I create just fine in DDMS but never anything at all for Backflip.
Does anyone know of something else that needs to be done? I see some things talking about special tasks for Linux but I am running Microsoft Windows 7!
Although the DDMS plugin is installed (verified by checking the installed plugins) in Eclipse, it is not showing up in the Perspective (which is showing only JAVA & DEBUG).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to check my program code for time consuming operations. I thought DDMS is the best tool to achieve that.
However, I cant see Threads, Heaps and so on. It tells my to select a client. But I dont know where other than the Devices Tab, which doesn't take effect.
What do I have to do? Is there maybe something wrong with my ADB setup (But LogCat works fine)?
I have seen this problem off and on while running the Eclipse (Galileo) under Fedora 11-13, whether the target is my device or an emulator. But now with my new device, the HTC T-Mobile G2 (Android 2.2), I see it much more frequently: I successfully download the app (complete with lots of Log.d() calls), the system successfully launches it, but the LogCat pane in the DDMS perspective is completely blank.
Sometimes, only sometimes, I seem to be able to kick it into action by clicking on the tool for Debug (the little bug one). But that doesn't even work all the time. Worse yet, it forces me to restart the whole program, which is very cumbersome.
And yes, I did remember to connect the device and make sure the device shows up under "adb devices", AND make sure that is the device the ADT downloaded to. I can even hit breakpoints in the code.
I suppose I could try relying only on the debugger, but I put a lot of work into writing those Log.d statements in the right place, it would be a giant leap backwards to do without them now. So any suggestions concerning what the problem might be, workarounds, or how to find relevant bugs logged against either ADT, SDK or the G2, would be welcome.
Google searches such as "android ddms logcat" have not helped so far.
I have also considered running ddms from the commandline, but the instructions on how to do this wtihout conflicting with the port already chosen by ADT for running DDMS are not clear enough to inspire confidence: so I always quit Eclipse before running the command line version of ddms. But then I lose the handy ability (provided by Eclipse) of navigating my source code while reading the log, so this too, is an inferior solution. Perhaps if someone can connect a few more of the dots in Google's instructions on this by explaining how to get the device and command-line DDMS to agree on a port while still running Eclipse, that would be a good solution.
I'd like to check for memory leaks in my Android app using the DDMS feature in Eclipse. When I launch an emulated device, the threads display properly for the emulated device, starting with 8600 and up.
However, when I connect my Droid to the PC, the device shows up just fine in DDMS. The logcat is generated correctly, and I can view the file structure. However, threads do not display. I get "no client selected" in the Threads pane, and there is no drop-down icon next to the device listing.
Do I need to change some particular setting in Eclipse? Is this maybe a driver issue?
I'm having a small problem with some onClick events, it's probably my .java file, the problem is once i test the app, virtual or real device, there are 2 buttons, 1 for Facebook(button1) and 1 for Twitter(button2), the Twitter one won't work until the Facebook one has been "clicked" and then you have to press back to then "click" the Twitter button.
I'm new to this so knowing my luck the java file is stating that "button2 will only work once button1 has been clicked"
After updating to Froyo on a Nexus One, the CPU load pie chart graph is no longer displayed when connected with the standalone DDMS. It still shows up for an AVD with 2.1, however.
Is there some setting, something I can turn on/off on the N1 so that DDMS can display its CPU load again? Is this a known change/issue going from 2.1 to 2.2?
This is with the latest SDK (android-8 platform) running under Vista 64bit.
I am new to android development and have been playing around with the tutorials offered at developer.android.com.I don't have a problem with projects I create from scratch, but when I start a project from the android sample code provided at android.com or from any other android project, I can never seem to get the bugs out to even run the thing. For example, when loading up the NotePad sample in the android-7 package of samples.would like a general solution, something more global bc this is occurring whenever I pull in anyone's source code from outside.kind of frustrated because I feel that I am spending too much time working out these kinks and not being able to study other people's code against how it performs in the emulator.

It started a few days ago but I can't be specific when.Pc to phone of calendar is fine, contacts sync fine both ways.I debranded from Vodafone and went to Froyo 10 days ago.Could this be the cause?Just installed the latest sync 2.0.33 from HTC - no change. It's a pain because I started using the phone to make work appointments, fortunately spotting the problems before any real damage was done with clients.Has anyone else come across this and if so found a fix?
View 11 Replies View RelatedDisclaimer: I've started a new thread as I felt this was distinct enough from 2.2 feedback and different from a similar thread.I upgraded to 2.2 today, did it over my mobile H connection and it all worked fine, no problems to report.Got home and turned the wi-fi on and while it will see all the surround access points, included mine, it won't actually connect to mine. When I go right into the settings and look at what's happening it appears to be unable to get past 'Obtaining Address.Nothing has changed on my wireless setup from this morning when 2.1 connected fine.I've rebooted both the router and the phone and it still doesn't connect. All i've not done yet is a factory reset on the phone, but to be honest i'm loathe to do that unless it's completely necessary.Strangely the wi-fi hotspot feature on the phone is working fine. Can someone please help, this is a major issue for me.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI am on phone #3 since the last two blew out the external speakers. Anyway this one hasn't had the weather working properly since I have received it, even after going to Froyo. It shoes my weather town name as "Current Location" instead of my towns name which the first two Incredibles showed just fine. The phone will occasionally show my town but not always. I have tried updating the weather a couple times but no luck. I also made sure all the location settings were turned on.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung Galaxy S2 and recently bought a no-name 64 GB SDXC card to replace my 32 GB, but I can't get it working properly.
I can transfer files to the card both via a micro SD adapter and the USB contact plugged to the computer. The SGS2 detects it, but the folders and files in them are corrupted by the phone. After some GBs, all folders are empty and folder names format like this:
"Dave Gahan" > "AVEGA~1" (spaces in original folder name)
"Depeche Mode" > "EPECH~1" (spaces in original folder name)
"Delerium" > "ELERIUM"[code].....
Here's a screenshot from X-plore:
If I put the SDXC back in the computer, the folders are like in the phone (corrupted).I've never had this issue with the 32 GB card and right now it's working perfectly having the exact same files as the 64 GB on it.I'm running stock ROM with Speedmod kernel 4.1.2. The 64 GB is formatted to FAT32 with 32 kb cluster size and there are no files over 4 GB.
Is there a way to solve this or is my 64 GB SDXC broken?
Had the family over tonight and my brothers phone had four bars... some Samsung unit and my Dad's Motorola Droid had FIVE BARS.... My Incred had ZERO to 1 bar (occasionally)Wassup with that? The battery is definitely an issue already but how about you? How is your signal?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI looked all over the web and in this group for a solution but I don't seem to have any luck. I'm probably not the only developer that needs to try C2DM on the emulator so a solution to this could be quite useful. First of all let me say that I'm running the latest Google APIs 8 rev 2 as AVD which should have all the necessary magic to allow me to run C2DM (it even has all the market components to run the LVL). I tried both Chrome to Phone and Jumpnote and it was impossible to make the C2DM service work. - Chrome to Phone fails when trying to connect from the Android app running on the emulator with a "Error: Unable to connect". On the Chrome to Phone site they recommend that Talk should be tried first and that the Market should be available (none of these come in the emulator image and I'm not sure if I should even try to install them on the emulator). - Jumpnote does not synchronize automatically and gives me an error: "Error calling remote note sync RPC" (when I do a manual sync I can see the docs being synchronized but looks like C2DM, which enables the auto sync, is broken). I also heard a comment that maybe port forwarding via adb could be necessary (but I'm really not sure this makes any sense).
