Android :: Cannot Resolve MapActivity Class
Sep 1, 2010I have an application which has 11 different activities. One of these activities is an extension of MapActivity (it is a map for data visualization). To get to this activity the user must first travel through the launch activity, then 3 other activities.
The code to launch the MapActivity is:

When this is executed I get the following output from the Log:

I do have the target set to Google APIs, this is an app meant for Android 1.5, and specifies the minsdk to be level 3 in the manifest file. uses-library for maps is also in manifest file.

I have been at this for almost 2 days now with no results. It seems that there are a lot of people having issues launching a MapActivity from other activities but there are no solutions anywhere.
Android :: Simple Program - Class Extends Activity At Startup
Oct 1, 2010I have a simple activity program in android. Basically the class just extends Activity.
But when I start it I get a ClassCastException in the constructor of my class. I don't even have a constructor defined, so it must be in the constructor of the superclass which is Activity. Nov 3, 2010Posted my problem here too HERE: A beginner..Im doing a school map app.
First of all I have background with 4 buttons ( level3, level4, level5, level6) I try and click all the buttons, normally after clicking 3 of it, the next one will crash.(each level button goes into a level map, whereby clicking the room image buttons, I will enter into the gallery-imageswitcher)
I have at least 5 imageswitchers in each level maps,so that about over 20 imageswitcher galleries overall.
I did all my stuffs using DRAWABLES instead of BITMAPS.. I have tons and tons of images (because its a school map, show all the photos in my school, and all those backgrounds and imagebuttons)
I did some research, and those who have problems are those using bitmap. Some of the ways that can be solved is system.gc();, and bitmap.recycle...(not so sure how to use it though)
In my main background - starttour.java Code...
PS: I have tons of images in the app; I have at least 5 imageswitcher gallerys in each level, so that kinda adds up to over 20 imageswitchers in my app.

It uses a special Preference called IconPreferenceScreen.I can copy that into my project without problem, but I'd like the behavior of the PreferenceScreen instead of just the Preference Class. I could like to click on it to show its children Preferences. I thought it would be a easy to change to make IconPreferenceScreen extend PreferenceScreen instead of Preference, but PreferenceScreen is Final.Why on earth would google make PreferenceScreen a final class? Is there anyway to achieve what I would like to do, short of dividing up my Preference into several other Preferences that all receive intents (That's how the system settings works.)
