Unlike in most of the examples the HTML page itself is not located in the assets folder but is loaded from a server via http. The background of this question are some performance improvements which should reduce the loading time (and the amount of transferred data) by loading static images directly from the device. I'm not sure if Android has some restrictions here because there's a certain possibility to exploit the app by allowing access to the local file storage from a remotely loaded webpage.

View 8 Replies View RelatedIve got a input tag in an HTML page in an Android WebView. I want the background to be transparent. It is (via background-color: transparent) UNTIL the user selects it (gives it focus, to input data). Then the background is white.
I've tried background-color on textbox and textbox:focus and Ive tried -webkit-appearance: none. None of these worked.
Anyone messed with this?

I've been testing the speed of the WebView; and it seems that it is quite fast at rendering. Does anyone know if Google has ever said anything on the subject of building the ui in html and rendering it in a WebView? I know it's perfectly legal to render the UI in the WebView; but am I going to run into some problem in the future?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to show that a WebView item contained as a item in a ListView is selected? Right now the WebView does not seem to display its contents transparently like every other control so it takes up the entire view and does not show its state as selected.
Also, when the content of the WebView is selected, scrolling down with the track back does not seem to cause the WebView to loose focus. If I continue to scroll down with the track ball, all of a sudden an item in the middle of the ListView gets selected.
I want to select text from Webview and than Highlight it.I am able to get the selected text using *emulateshiftHeld() *method but If i try to search it in file and than Underline it the problem is that it doesn't know the position of text so it underlines that word in whole file as many time it is repeated.So i want to find the position of that text (which will be known only at runtime) in webview. Therefore, I have to set the content programmatically, rather than extract the strings from an android xml resource. With sax I am trying to pre-process the page to make it XML compliant (replace <br> with <br />), but I still have some troubles because of errors in the page (a couple of mismatched tags and "&" in attributes value ISO &). Is there any way to make sax parser ignore these errors and keep on parsing? I tried to use ErrorHandler interface, but I could not catch anything.

I would like to include some custom css styles for them, Now, I could have my app edit every HTML file and add linking reference for the CSS file.I could also read the file contents, add the CSS linking and use WebView.loadData() to load it.But is it possible to do this a lot simpler and efficiently.Note: The HTML files are downloaded from a website. So editing them manually is not possible in this case, but once downloaded they can be edited via the app if necessary.
