Apr 10, 2010
I dont have a android phone yet but I will soon. I do have a question about a feature my Motorola Razor v9m has that I really like, I use bluetooth everyday on my job and my phone has voice caller id so I know who is calling. Do the android phones have this or is a app out there for this?

I can make calls ok and send and receive text. I have my voice mail set up but when I receive calls if I miss the call it does not go to voice mail and the caller get a message saying the number is not recognized. Does anyone know if this is a phone problem or a network problem only had this since I have had my X10.

One thing I've noticed with my HTC Hero (Sprint) is that I have a very short period of time to answer an incoming call before the caller is directed to voice mail. When I do answer the phone people are routinely telling me that it rang 4 or more times before I answered even though, from my perspective, I answered it rather quickly. Could this have something to do with using downloaded ringtones? Perhaps, while the phone should be ringing, instead, it is loading the ringtone off the sdcard.

When I am using Apps, IE. Facebook, Messing, or Browseing the web, I miss incoming calls, the caller (WIFE and others) goes directly to my voice mail, I have checked to see it the check box in the contacts section is check or not (the one that tells the contact to go to VM), and it is UNCHECKED, yet calls still goto VM, the even go to VM after i am done surfen or Texting, is there some way to tell the phone or a check box that i can check to accept all incoming calls no mater what i am doing, i have even called CS to see if CALL FWDing got turned on some how, they told me nope!

How to either replace the in call screen or put something on top of it....the only solution I have found thus far is to make my own ROM, which doesn't make sense for such a small portion of an OS. however I found these two apps (Full Screen Caller Pictures and Full Screen Caller ID) that are able to put a contact image and button on top of the standard in call screen.

Is there any apps out there that could hide an incoming call from a preselected number so that when the number calls my phone, it will not be put on hold or disconnected, just ringing but not showing up on my screen?

I want to be able to get a vocal Caller ID, that way when I am out riding my bike and get a call I can hear who is calling. Example Phone rings and over the speaker or though my head phones I hear "Call from bob or 555-555-5555" My home phone does this so I was hoping there might be an app out there that would allow my droid to do it as well.

I was wondering if anyone knows if there's an app to replace the ID Caller. I would love something similar to the iPhone, where the Picture when someone calls is huge. Just seems that so much screen space is lost on the Android.

We are developing a ContentProvider which is supposed to serve for specified packages. So we want to get the caller package name. Is there any way to achieve that?

I have a client who wishes to spoof the caller id for his phones he assigns to his sales staff. He wants the number to appear to be from his main office to better handle return calls from potential buyers. Is this possible? After reading many posts on this list and much time Google'ng,I'm thinking it's not. Meanwhile he is pointing to his internal phone system which does exactly as he described. All his office phones appear to dial out from the same number as far as the receivers caller id is concerned. How can I pull off the same on Android?

Does anyone know about an app that you can be wearing your bluetooth headset and hear who is calling you? This would be nice so I don't have to reach for my phone when driving and to know who is calling.

I'm sure its been discussed and all but I think that the voice recognition software is capable of being much more advanced. There should be a way to just give your phone a voice command without having to manually open an app. It probably would have to be running in the background the whole time, analyzing everything it hears, so it may use a lot of battery and cpu.therefore it may be easier to have a starter phrase to tell it to listen more carefully. for example: say the said app is running in the background, listening to every noise, but it wouldn't begin to really analyize until you say something like; "hey, phone!" or "yo, droid!" (or whatever tag phrase). I don't know what would have to go into an app like that for it to work but hey, if an app like that was designed, then I think the android would be a really smart smartphone. In the end thanks for all the awesome apps you guys are already developing. be sure to tell me when someone develops something like that though.

Is there an app that will send a text to the caller if you miss their call? For example, I am expecting a call from my wife but am in the shower when she calls. I need something to send her(only her) a text if I miss her call. Other calls missed can go to voicemail.

I wonder if there is any application which allows me to define a list of contacts that should not receive my phone number when they are called.
Or otherwise: a list of friends that may see my caller ID, everone else not.
The reason for this is easy: I use my android phone on work but I don't want all customers have my private number just because they receive a call from my mobile phone.
I tried adding *31# before a contacts phone number which actually works, it disables the caller ID for the next call, but incoming numbers don't match the deposited phone number in the phonebook so I can't see who's calling I just see a number.
Is there a solution to my problem? If there isn't an automatic way to do this, maybe there is a quick-switch application I can place on my phone: hit once to toggle caller ID on/off...

When an Android phone receives a call it automatically checks if the call exists in its own contact database. I was wondering if there is a simple way to access that information. I have a PhoneStateListener that performs certain actions during a ringing state, and I want to check if the incoming caller is in the contacts list.
Is there a way to do this without going through the Contacts ContentProvider?

My friend was talking to me about an application my friend has, or that it comes with the phone, but I can't seem to figure out a way to do it.
So the application basically sends the caller a customized SMS if you do not pick up the phone. Say you call me, and I didn't answer, the phone automatically sends the caller a text that you set up beforehand that could say 'I'm sleeping, I'll call you when I'm awake' or something along those lines.
Anyone know what it is or how to configure it if it comes with the phone?

Suppose my application xyz stores a few contacts(just like in the address book/ telephone book). Other contacts are by-default stored in my Android address book. Suppose I receive a call on the handset with my app xyz running in the background. All I need is to fetch the Caller's name from the application xyz and display this name as" Akash Calling..." instead of "+91... calling..." assuming that caller's details are present in the application say, his name and none of his details in the actual address book. Is this feasible.
