Hello! If I shall download application not from Android Market and install it, can I update this application from Market later? This application exist on Market.
After different testing, I found an issue with the "update method" when installing an application update.
I developped "DilbertDroid", and a lot of people are saying that there is missing some functionnality but the latest version published on the market have this functionnalities.
I suppose that when updating a application, the updater doesn't kill the process related to the application but only update the application files on phone. Result: the old application is still running until you kill the process or reboot the system.
I think it is not very professionnal to tell user to deinstall and then reboot their phone in order to install an update.
My application doesn't have any service running
After flashing Froyo on my GS, the Market app has disappeared. Am I the only one having this problem? Is there anyway to download/install manually the Market app on my GS?
View 4 Replies View RelatedHi. My Android market does the following strange thing. One application (Titanium backup) has appearantly failed an update, because when I open market, this application is always on top under downloads saying "Installing". I've powered down the phone, but to no avail, no matter what, this application is "locked" in a state of Installing - which means I can't uninstall and re-install, and I can't update, because Market will not let me do anything else with this application than displaying "Installing" and nothing else happens.
Can I get out this application lock on Market, or do I have to wait for the next firmware update? I Use SE X10.
I published an application that stores data in a local database.
Now I have to publish an update to this application to fix some little bugs, but I am afraid that downloading and installing the update will delate the local database associated with the previous version.
I would like to know how the update system works. Will installing an update completely delete all the apk, files, databases associeted with the previous version?
If so, how can I avoid this in my code?
After installing the 2.1 update onto a SE X10 mini the Android Market will not function. It opens, I can browse and select apps but when attempting to download it states 'starting Download', with a barber-pole bar, but the download goes no further. I have re-installed the update which seemed to work at first with one download working but then the same problem re-occurred. Based on info in other feedback on this blog I reviewed the app settings but there is no update to uninstall. how to get the Market to work?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have alot (and I mean ALOT) of apps on my Xperia, so I get around 5 app updates a day, which is now starting to agitate me because most of them are the same apps everyday needing updates.
Today I heard about an update for the market that includes an auto update feature for installed apps. But I, like many others, do not see this option on the market.
Does anyone have any idea how to get it? or if I can't get it, when can I?
Does it actually work? I still have to manually update the apps I put on auto update.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am creating an application that checks the installation of a package and then launches the market-place with its id.
When I try to launch market place with id of an application say com.mybrowser.android by throwing an intent android.intent.action.VIEW with url: market://details?id=com.mybrowser.android, the market place application does launches but crashes after launch.
Note: the application com.mybrowser.android doesn't exists in the market-place.
MyApplication is my application.
CODE:..........
However, when I try to launch the market place for a package that exists in the market place say com.opera.mini.android, everything works. Log for this case:

I have published application and now I'm making update to it. I changed applications Data structure and moved all files under /Android/ data/<package_name>/files/ folder. All files that are in that folder will be automatically removed when application is uninstalled.I want those files to be removed when application is uninstalled but not when it's UPDATED. I don't want users to lose all their data after every update. I don't know how to test it (without publishing new release). So will those files be deleted when user updates my application?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo one of the cool things about Froyo is being able to check off Enable Automatic Update for market apps. So i have that checked off for like 80+% of my 80+ apps (that took a while to do let me tell you). Now i have had three apps have updates available since i checked off the box, yet they never actually automatically updated. I waited, hours, still never updated. Is there a setting i need to modify? Do i need to tell it what time of day to do it? Anyone else noticing this? I only really want it in apps that i don't care about reading the new features. But it is annoying that i have it enabled and it does nothing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Nexus One using 2.2.1 and was notified that four apps had updates, so I opened Market and clicked "Update All", exited Market, hit the power button to put the phone to sleep and put it away. The next day I look in the Market and those apps still say "Installing..." I can't cancel them and rebooting the phone did nothing. They just show the progress bar with the hash marks scrolling by.I can still use the apps though. I don't want to see what happens if I uninstall mostly because I'd loose the data in the apps. The battery doesn't seem effected, so right now it appears to be just an uncomfortable curiousity.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI uploaded my app to the market last night, and after an hour or so it showed 107 installs, 88 active, 2 comments. It still says that (12+ hours later), even though when I click comments there are 10+. How often do the statistics update? Is there any way to update them manually?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI used aTrackDog to look for updates and it said that there was an update for the Android Market. I pressed install from market but it said it could not be found. The new version was 1.82 and I have 1.713.How do I install the update?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to upload an upgrade in the market. But when I upload the apk and new images and click save or publish everything is lost when I return to the listing (the old apk and images are restored). The only thing that changes is the saved versioncode of the app. Is there something broken?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an app on the market that requires sdk 2.0. I want to rewrite and publish it using 1.6 to find a wider audience.
The question is: if I update my already published app with an sdk downgrade to 1.6 will it then show up to users with phones at 1.6? I know currently the market search shows my app only to those that have 2.0 phones.
I hope to figure out the direct URL link to my application on the market like http://market:blahblah
I was able to find the application ID previously by going to the UI interface to upload application, and looking at the URL link that can edit the app.
However, this method doesn't seem to work any more because the now the edit URL link contains only the package name and not the app ID.
Any idea how to get the application ID?
Wasn't there mention back during the Google conference of a Android media center type of application for the PC. Hate to think of the Itunes but yes, an itunes like application but for Android. Organize our music and other programs on the computer and sync it up. Make searching for applications easier and we can back up our downloaded ups on the pc.
Its great to use our phones as flash drives with plug and go but is there something already on the market or elsewhere that can do what I've mentioned?
following on a recent topic posted here is my question- how can I find out which version of Android Market am I running? If I go to Market and press "menu" button on the phone none of the options answers to my question.
My second question is- where is the "Update all" button in the Market. I can not see it anywhere.I am running Froyo 2.2, Orange branded Desire, stock ROM.
I just checked the market for updates on my applications and there is an update for beautiful widgets. I thought this app was pulled from the market? Has anyone done this update? I am afraid that if i update it will change the way it looks to something less appealing because of the whole HTC C&D letter.

View 6 Replies View RelatedSince getting HTC's unbranded 2.2 on my Desire I'm no longer getting notifications about apps that have been updated on the Market. The notifications option is set to "Notify when items are updated" and I've tried various combinations of disabling and enabling it and rebooting the phone and still I'm not getting notifications for updates. I always got notified when I had 2.1.I've posted this a few times in the bugs thread, but it just gets lost in all the other talk, which is why I've started this thread.

View 2 Replies View RelatedA month ago I bought 2 Samsung captivates at the same time. Tonight while messing with the one I gave my Fiancee, I notice her Market was different from mine. Hers says it is version 1714, mine says 2002012.I couldn't find any thing on the web other than there are a few android phones, non samsung, that are also stuck at 1714, and that 2012 is the latest version.
View 21 Replies View RelatedOne thing that annoys me is when there is an update for an app in the market and I don't know what they are updating. Some apps tells you the stuff they are adding or improving but most don't. On some you can click on the developer's page n they will tell you. But there is a lot that you don't know what the updates are.Like the very popular Pandora radio app. I checked today and there was an update to 1.5 but there is nothing that tells me what the update is.I am new to android, maybe I am missing something but is there a way to see what the updates are before you download?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've noticed this since I've updated to Froyo (many weeks ago) but I don't know if it's related to Froyo or just some random coincidence. Whenever I update an app that's stored on my SD card I get the "Failed to install application" error. It's easy to fix just move the app to the phone, but it's kind of a pain in the backside. Is there an easier fix? Or should I just keep all apps on the phone and use the SD for photos and music or something?I have a non-rooted HTC Incredible.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs is possible for me to publish an android app on my own website and not use android market. The app is for use with our internet software services and is therefor only in the interest of our existing clients.
The second questions is, can I install updates to my app after it is installed or would I have to use the market to accomplish that task?
I'm not sure who I should complain to about this, HTC or Google, but after I did the most recent Hero (sprint) firmware update I am unable to see applications that I developed nor several applications that I paid for (and free ones) on the Market. This makes updating them unavailable. Also, if I do a factory reset on my phone, then I will not be able to download these paid for applications again. What's the deal here? A friend of mine who also did the firmware update is in the same boat. Since I do have applications out there that people are buying, I am now unable to view comments for those since I cannot see them on the Market. What's the solution to this? Should I contact HTC as well?
