Android :: Market Update Fails

Oct 3, 2010

I want to upload an upgrade in the market. But when I upload the apk and new images and click save or publish everything is lost when I return to the listing (the old apk and images are restored). The only thing that changes is the saved versioncode of the app. Is there something broken?

2.1 Update :: Android Market Fails After 2.1 Update

Nov 12, 2010

After installing the 2.1 update onto a SE X10 mini the Android Market will not function. It opens, I can browse and select apps but when attempting to download it states 'starting Download', with a barber-pole bar, but the download goes no further. I have re-installed the update which seemed to work at first with one download working but then the same problem re-occurred. Based on info in other feedback on this blog I reviewed the app settings but there is no update to uninstall. how to get the Market to work?

Android :: Market Licensing Intermittently Fails

Oct 26, 2010

I included the Android Market licensing (LVL) in my application and is currently using it to block invalid users. However users are emailing me that they are legit and include proof that they indeed bought the application. In looking at the errors generated during authentication, I get something along the line of "failed to reach server 505 error" which basically means that the Android Market server isn't responding and authenticating the users correctly.

In my personal experience when I encountered this once in my testing (I was hoping it was unique but it's not), I had to wait 30 mins before it finally worked. My phone was using wireless and clearly had no network issues. Ultimately the Android Market server is glitch and faulty (which is nothing new) and was just not responding and authenticating for around 30 mins. This leads to an extremely crappy experience for my users.

Other than dropping using this licensing scheme, I don't know what else to do. Android market connection is just too faulty for everyday usage. Do other developers have a better experience? Others using LVL at all? Others with similar experience?

General :: Market Fails To Process Order

Jan 27, 2012

When I purchase something from the market, it hangs on authorising payment in the market app. In the meantime the payment is taken from my card, I get an email with receipt for the order, then the market will error with the message "You will receive email when your purchase is resolved". The app then seems to freeze in a state of permanent purchased but not delivered. 24 hours has passed and I can still hit the refund button and process a refund.

This happens both on my Xoom and SGS2 whether purchased from the market on the respective device or from the website. The entries on Google wallet appear to be the same as previous successful purchases just without the delivered/shipped detail on them, and the message this item will be automatically downloaded to your device is absent.

I'm stuck in hospital at the moment and my tablet and phone are all I have, so this really sucks.I have tried multiple payment methods with no success.

Samsung Captivate :: Software Update Fails To Connect

Sep 8, 2010

In theory there will come a day when Froyo or the GPS fix will be available from AT&T...

So every so often I go into Settings and then go to Software Update, click "Check for Update", click OK and for the past couple weeks it has ALWAYS told me that it failed to connect to AT&T's servers. If I try and check again it tells me that 24 hours has not elapsed since I made my last request. (Even though that request failed).

I've tried it in Airplane mode with Wi-Fi enabled and I've tried it in normal mode but using Wi-Fi and in 3G mode (not connected to any Wi-Fi network).

The day I got my phone I was able to retrieve an update (so it used to work) and I have not rooted my phone or "mucked with it" in any fashion.

HTC Desire :: FriendStream Fails Update (Twitter) / Solution For This?

Sep 1, 2010

I use twitter to follow various people in the F1 fraternity, the friendstream widget is pretty handy, so I use that on a homepage. A few times now I've noticed that it fails to update from twitter - it simply doesn't get any new stuff. If I go in to peep that also doesn't update. if I start the twitter app they are all there.

Anyone else noticed this / found a solution ?

Last time it was out of a couple of days and then just started working again.

Android :: Android SDK And AVD Manager With No Correct Info And Fails To Update

Dec 10, 2009

I'm trying to install Android SDK on Ubuntu but fail when I try to use the SDK Manager and AVD Manager to install Android platforms.
I've downloaded: android-sdk_r04-linux_86.tgz
Then I start the SDK Manager and AVD Manager (UI) according to the README file:
./tools/android
And I get the following

Installed Packages:
- Install SDK Tools, revision 4

Available Packages:
- This repository requires a more recent version of the Tools. Please update-
- Android SDK Tools, revision 4
- Archive for Linux

Now doing an update of the Android SDK Tools, revision 4 or everything results in
99% progress and then the application hangs.

Here's the console feedback:
johanc@johan-desktop:~/android/android-sdk-linux_86$ tools/android
Starting Android SDK and AVD Manager
No command line parameters provided, launching UI.
See 'android --help' for operations from the command line.
Error: null

In the app I choose to update the following package:
Package Description
Android SDK Tools, revision 4
Archive Description
Archive for Linux
Size: 15 MiB
SHA1: 99380c9330c1c3728c836206947350cc00fa28c2

Site
https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/repository/repository.xml
The console output reads (and the app hangs at 99%):

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 : Update For The Market That Includes An Auto Update Feature For Installed Apps

Oct 17, 2010

I have alot (and I mean ALOT) of apps on my Xperia, so I get around 5 app updates a day, which is now starting to agitate me because most of them are the same apps everyday needing updates.

Today I heard about an update for the market that includes an auto update feature for installed apps. But I, like many others, do not see this option on the market.

Does anyone have any idea how to get it? or if I can't get it, when can I?

Motorola Droid X :: Enabled Auto Matic Update For Market Apps Still Won't Auto Update

Sep 26, 2010

So one of the cool things about Froyo is being able to check off Enable Automatic Update for market apps. So i have that checked off for like 80+% of my 80+ apps (that took a while to do let me tell you). Now i have had three apps have updates available since i checked off the box, yet they never actually automatically updated. I waited, hours, still never updated. Is there a setting i need to modify? Do i need to tell it what time of day to do it? Anyone else noticing this? I only really want it in apps that i don't care about reading the new features. But it is annoying that i have it enabled and it does nothing.

Android :: Market Update Bug?

Oct 11, 2010

I have a Nexus One using 2.2.1 and was notified that four apps had updates, so I opened Market and clicked "Update All", exited Market, hit the power button to put the phone to sleep and put it away. The next day I look in the Market and those apps still say "Installing..." I can't cancel them and rebooting the phone did nothing. They just show the progress bar with the hash marks scrolling by.I can still use the apps though. I don't want to see what happens if I uninstall mostly because I'd loose the data in the apps. The battery doesn't seem effected, so right now it appears to be just an uncomfortable curiousity.

Android :: Update Application From Market

May 5, 2009

After different testing, I found an issue with the "update method" when installing an application update.

I developped "DilbertDroid", and a lot of people are saying that there is missing some functionnality but the latest version published on the market have this functionnalities.

I suppose that when updating a application, the updater doesn't kill the process related to the application but only update the application files on phone. Result: the old application is still running until you kill the process or reboot the system.

I think it is not very professionnal to tell user to deinstall and then reboot their phone in order to install an update.

My application doesn't have any service running
