I have multiple view. But for systematic distribution of views (.xml files inside layout folder). I would like to have different packages (/folders) inside Layout. Is It possible. @Attached : Screen shot. IF that is possible, is the following statement correct ?. If Not whats the solution?

I have read the Android UI trick 2 on Android developers, which tells people how to include a layout in another layout file multiple times, and give these included layouts different id. However, the sample here is overwriting the layout id, not the id of the views IN this layout. For example, if the workspace_screen.xml looks like this: And I include it three times in another layout file. Do I end up with three TextViews with id firstText, and another three with secondText? Isn't there an id collision? And how do I find the secondText TextView in the third included layout with findViewById? What should I input in the findViewById method?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am implementing a music player application in Android. My play list selection screen is implemented as a tab selector widget which contains a ListActivity inside each of the tabs: Artist, Albums, Songs.
I want to update the ListView in each of the ListActivity when I delete an item from any of the lists.
i.e. When I long press an item in the Artists list a context menu is drawn with "Delete Artist"
And it should delete all the songs from this artist in the Songs ListView, delete all the albums by this artist in the Albums ListView, and finally delete the entry for the artist in the Artist ListView.
Each of the ListActivity has its own fillData() method, which updates the ListView when the button in the context menu is pressed.
How can I call the fillData() method of the Albums ListActivity after I update the ListView inside of the Artists ListActivity?
I want to populate a table, defined in layout xml file through the programmatic way. I have define Table with a single row defining its header, with all the attributes set. Now i want to know a way so that i can just replicate that header row in the table with new content.
I tried using inflator inflate(int,view) method, but at runtime it showed up with error.

Basically what I am trying to accomplish is I want a canvas I can pass bitmaps to, to be displayed on the screen with the rest of my view objects (buttons, textviews, etc).
View 1 Replies View RelatedIm using ListView to to show some custom data, once data is updated in the adapter i call notifyDatasetChanged(), so the view will get updated, all of this works well, my issue though is i would like to run an animation once only on items that got changed when the adapter was updated. currently i keep a copy of all the changed objects and i tried to animate the correct items through the getView() call.
However if i do it only once for every getView call then i see no animation most of the time on items that changed. if i continue to do so in successive getView calls i see animation on items that don not change as well and also the ones that changed get animated again and again.
Im guessing sometimes android calls the getView() for other reasons than showing the generated view immediately, and thats the reason it doesnt work if i do it once.
I have a HorizontalScrollView that has lots of views and images inside it.
The issue is that if I have lots of stuff inside it I will get a 'java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: bitmap size exceeds VM budget'
is there any way to use some kind of cache, or add/remove stuff as I move left/right so its not on memory all the time?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhile developing for Android, I am unable to open more than one main.xml file in an Eclipse editor at a time.Each time I open one, it simply replaces the editor (tab) of the first main.xml with the new one, instead of opening a new tab - even if the contents of the existing tab were unsaved.Even stranger, I can open multiple main.xml files from different projects with no problems.This only happens when they're within the same project.

I have a number of child views, each child is a TableRow and I need to be able to change the order of the TableRows, such that I can swap the rows into any order. I know there is a method called removeAllViews() but I don't really want to remove and re-create the views if its possible to access and change the order. I really want the display to update as smoothly as possible, taking the minimum amount of time, is it possible?

I do understand how to use assets in android but now problem is that file sizes are more than 1MB and so android gives error Data Exceeds UNCOMPRESS_DATA_MAX (2183588 vs 1048576). how to access such larger files from assets? Also I cant reduce a file into small buffers because i am just sending it to "DocumentBuilder.parse(in)" as a whole so can not use buffer. The error is on line: Document doc = db.parse(in).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using eclipse 3.5 with the ADT plugin.when I view layout xml files, i get two tabs in the view the source code view and a graphical view.the graphical view almost never works for any of my layouts.it usually shows "NullPointerException: null" at the top and nothing else. when it does work, it often does not match what i get in the simulator or device.it seems like this thing simply is not ready for prime time; although the idea is very cool.has anyone else had much success with it?

If it were on a linux PC I would be installing GThumb, on windows ACDSEE. I have tried Photo Burst. It crashes and I had to reset the phone. I have tried Picture Viewer but the latest version does not pan at all. The only way to do something like this with the stock viewer is to have all your photos in the root of the sdcard in folders or within download. Not really the neatest way of doing this.

I wanted to move this into an XML file, so I have the same view defined there. My problem is that I can't figure out how to load the XML file in the constructor of the derived class. I looked up the LayoutInflater stuff, but I wasn't entirely sure how to use it in that context. Do I need to call addView() with the result of the LayoutInflater? Is this even possible? The other issue is that the context object that is passed in doesn't have the LayoutInflater methods. I'm not sure if I need an instance of Activity to do that.

I have created a an activity named Example which have 3 LinearLayouts . I want to start an activity. So I used the following lines of code...
Test is another activity. As a result of the above code a new activity is called in new page. But I want to get the same resule or start the activity inside 2nd layout of Example class.

How do I set up an xml layout where an OpenGL view is part of it? As I do now is set the OpenGL view as the only view with setContentView(). But I would like to create an xml layout that includes the OpenGL view. Lets say I want to have the OpenGL view mainly and a small TextView at the bottom.
Is this even possible? Or can an OpenGL view only be the one and only view?
In my app I want to create something like this: I thought to put five buttons inside a linear layout, but the problem is how to show the inner items at run time. Every time i click on a button i want to show the proper items and hide the others.
