Android :: Setting Up Customers Comcast Email

Feb 19, 2010

I have a customer that needs to get their comcast email setup on Motorola Droid. This seems to be an issue. First off let me give you the settings I am using.
Incoming:

1.Customer username - does not have @comcast behind it

2.their password

3. port 110

4. mail.comcast.net

5. Security type None

Outgoing

1.smtp.comcast.net

2.587 port

3.security None

I have also tried other random settings. The best I have gotten this to work is that it receives one email at a time. A couple of minutes later you click refrest and even that message is gone.I have even tried m.comcast.net for the customer and that website shows you have 2 new mail. But after you click on it once and back out there is no way to see the messages again.

General :: Setup Email Using Base Email Address Through Comcast

Jan 3, 2013

I just received a new Nexus 7 32GB and am having some issues. I'm trying to setup my email using my base email address thru Comcast. I have no trouble revieving email through the email setup not Gmail but there is no provision for an address book or contacts list for sending emails. I Googled around and found K-9 Email and went to Google Apps to download it and upon tapping the download button a message came up stating "no devices found". The Nexus7 is running Jellybeen 4.2.1.

Android :: POP / Comcast Email

Jan 12, 2010

I am a newbie to the droid. I have been lurking here for about a month before I bought it, so I am in fairly good shape with it other than one iritiation.I am coming from three years of Blackberry (8800, 9000) use. My iritation is with my POP/Comcast email. On my BB I could delete a message and it would delete it from the server without any issue. It also would stay on my BB after I downloaded the email from the server to my PC. With my droid I lose the message once I download it to my PC. Is there a way to do this? I have tried the stock email program, K-9 also.I have even tried using forwarded email through G-Mail, but that does not delete the message on the Comcast server when I delete it in G-Mail. Is there a trick to this I am missing?Look forward to some great info on this one if there is a solution.

Motorola Droid :: Downloading Email From Comcast

Nov 24, 2009

Downloading email from my comcast.net account was working fine - then for some unknown reason it no longer does. If I tap on the folders, the inbox shows that there are the correct number of emails sitting in my inbox on the comcast server, but they never download to the droid.I've tried removing the account and adding it back, same issue. It never gets past loading messages.

General :: No Incoming Comcast Email On Devices

Sep 29, 2013

I am having problem (same as original post at link below) with 3 comcast email addresses on android phone. Estimate started 9/25/13. Can send email, but do not receive when polling at 30 minute interval; also does not delete emails on server when deleted on phone to keep emails synced. I am using K9 email app. When checking incoming server settings, I get the following error message: "Setup could not finish finish. Username or password incorrect ()." I have not changed usernames or passwords.

POP3 server: mail.comcast.net
Security typre: SSL (always)
Authentication type PLAIN
Port: 995

Also tried deleting and re-adding account, and increased setting for folder size. (Was also having problem with deleted email addresses showing up in auto-fill lists -- only on web, not on android. That's been fixed with "slow sync" of address book. But then this new problem is even worse.) original post: No incoming e-mail on devices

Is there anything similar for exchange? Or at least some workaround?

Android :: Setting Default Email App - And Disabling The Others

Nov 25, 2010

I have 3 email applications on my GarminAsus A50:

> Default email client
> Gmail
> K9 email client

All three have been setup with email accounts.

Is there a way to set K9 as my preferred email app? Because everytime I receive an email, I get three sets of notifications (one from each app)

For the moment I've disabled the email notifications from Gmail and the default mail, but they still run in the background checking for messages which is really just a waste of CPU power and battery life.

Anything to keep them from running at all?

Android :: Setting Up POP Server Email - Cannot Select Options

Jul 5, 2010

Seems like it should be pretty straightforward. In the main menu I chose "email" and added my pop servers URL and the next line asks for the password which I entered however it will not let me highlight either the "manual set up" or the "next" icons in a gray bar just below the password box. Tried it several times now. Certainly a Droid should be able to handle pop server mail??

Android :: Setting Up Email Account - Create Additional Folders

Dec 30, 2009

Setting up my email account was easy to do. I'm having a problem (or I'm not understanding) the email app that came with the phone. I only see three folders

INBOX
SEND
TRASH

How do I create additional folders? Also, how do I get all my emails in my inbox to display?? I am only seeing the recent emails, or the ones that were just received. I need to be able to see the emails from earlier today, yesterday, last week, etc..... How do I do this? Can emails be stored to the card? Can we change the text setting from an html format to just a standard text format? Where can I find a the complete instructions on the email app?

Android :: Email Address / Imap Setting Are Restricted Accounts - Can't Sync

Jun 7, 2010

Does anyone know of an App that acts similar to the Blackberry email client? What i really mean is does anyone know of an app that acts as a third party entering your log in details and then pushing emails to your phone (similar to what i believe the BB client does)

I only ask as i wish to connect to my Uni email address and the IMAP settings are restricted on undergraduate accounts, so cant sync in the usual way via IMAP. However, people who have BB's at uni have no issue in connecting to their emails. On asking the IT guys why this is they explained "The reason people are able to use Blackberry?s is due to the fact that they provide there password to an external company to access there mail on behalf of them which is strongly against the terms and conditions of there university account, and as a result should not be doing this at all." Essentially i need an app that mimics this. his new HTC desire?

KitKat 4.4 :: Setting Up Duplicate Email / Active Sync Accounts On Android 4.4?

Jan 16, 2014

Due to circumstances at my work , I cannot access the internal network outside.

Therefore I have to use exchange active sync to sync my work calendar whilst I am at work.

To access emails outside of work with have a email route setup and a external email host.

The short is I have to add 2 accounts under the same email address. One which will connect to the work network locally over wifi and the other that will just allow me to view work emails externally.

This has worked fine previously but since my phone has been updated to 4.4 kitkat when adding the second account it pops up with a error message about duplicate accounts.

How can i bypass this message and add the second account?

HTC EVO 4G :: Setting Up Exchange Email Keeps Failing?

When I first got my Evo, I had no problems setting up the HTC mail client with my work email, using Exchange. Due to random restarts, I had to do a hard reset, and now I keep getting "Failed to create the account. Please try again later." This has been happening for the past few days since I did the hard reset.

When I initially set it up, I just put in my work email and password and had no problems. Now, I've tried every configuration possible in both normal and manual setup. Anyone got any other ideas?

Do you think its worth setting up several accounts i.e. yahoo mail, gmail, home mail? I notice its going to grab all the new emails and it doesn't let you view your old ones, you would have to go into the Internet and into the email account to see those old ones. Also I want to prevent it from syncing with my email too often and only want to manually pull in my email.

Android :: Customers On Metered Data Plans

Mar 7, 2009

Alright, at the risk this has been discussed before, let me alert everybody that there are customers on metered data plans out there (metered as opposed to "unlimited"). This is the first time I've heard of it: http://groups.google.com/group/android-discuss/browse_thread/thread/2... So heads-up when you use wake locks to keep data connectivity alive.

I develop with such a scenario in mind, but nonetheless will include a note in my manual(s) to not use my app on a metered plan, just to err on the safe side.
