i have already set the theme of my activity as android:theme = "@android:style/Theme.Dialog" but i also want to remove the title bar of the activity. so how to use android:theme="@android:style/Theme.Black.NoTitleBar.Fullscreen" along with the dialog theme.

I want to hide the title bar for some of my activities. The problem is that I applied a style to all my activities, therefore I can't simply set the theme to @android:style/Theme.NoTitleBar. Using the NoTitleBar theme as a parent for my style would remove the title bar for to much activities. Can I set a no title style item somewhere?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to give my application launcher icon (the one that is displayed on the startscreen!) a different, shorter caption. It seems the launcher takes its label from the mainfest section about the main activity's label, as here:

I already changed the original reference to my app's name @string/app_name to a different, shorter string resource here. BUT - big BUT: this also of course changes this activity's default title! And I did not want that to happen, there's enough space for a long application name! Setting the long title again in onCreate using the setTitle(int) method does no good either, because the short name will be visible to the user for a short time, but long enough to notice!
And - please don't answer my question by refering to a custom titlebar... I do not want to go that long way, just because of a stupid string title! It's a pain to draw a custom title bar for so little effect! Is there no easy way to just give the launcher a different string to display?
Anyone know what the default Activity Title font size/style is? I'm creating a custom title but would like to match the other Activities.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a custom title bar that I would like to apply to all my activities. I have searched online and found a few ways of doing that however I have ran into a problem. It seems that despite the fact I have a TextView in my titlebar with id @android:id/title, Android will not use the value defined in the manifest in android:label for each activity. I tried also calling setTitle(R.string.myTitle) but it still will not render it! If I manually put some text in my TextView in the xml it shows up fine. How can I have a custom title bar that is linked and makes Android use my manifest values for labels? I do not want to lose the setTitle() or the XML attributes functionality.

With this setup, the old gray from the old title bar still exists around the edge of my custom title. Appears to be on the order of 3-4 px on the bottom and 8-10 px on each side. Any ideas about how to get the black background to cover the entire area?
Unlocked phone and swiped to right screen to access Email and my tasks widget deleted itself! It could do with being a bit slower off the mark for widget deletes imo

I'm trying to get the code entered in the command window before running the PB31IMG.zip file and have run into a snag that, being, I don't know much about the using command window. (adb push flash_image /data)(adb push mtd0.img /dat. Both go through fine, but when I type: (adb shell) and press enter my next line of code starts w/ :(~#) upon my typing (chmod 777 /data/flash_image) I get: (~#) again. Quick question: 1. Is the (~# ) correct and if not how do I get past it to enter the remaining code? 2. Do I just continue to type the remaining code after the (~#)? 3. After rebooting, what volume do I type the (fastboot devices after? C: or C:sdkools? I obviously don't know much, if anything, about using the command window.

Just picked up a Fascinate for my wife and as we all know it's infested with Bing (until the 2.2 update). I have installed google search etc and its mostly running like her Eris was BUT the car home app that pops up when you place the phone in the car mount is the Samsung Bing app. The icons point to VZ navigator etc and she is like WTF I can't get the nav to work. Anyone know the easiest way (here come the "root the phone man....." comments) to disable the car home or replace it will the stock google one?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI recently recieved a replacement desire following an claim. Once out of the box i realised that this was vodafone branded (my original showed no branding). I was a bit pi**ed off with this so decided to have a go at rooting the thing. I used unrevoked3 and clockwork mod but due to this being 2.1 firmware found that I was unable to change the rom. I would now like to unroot my desire as it has seemingly developed a fault and repeatedly reboots, so I may have to send back. This developed some 10 days after the root so don't think this is the cause. I also did a factory reset and the problem still occurs.

I recently rooted my phone and removed some bloatware (all backed up btw) mainly the ones on the safe list in the thread posted about it here. I don't know if that is what is causing the following problem, but just to preface that if so.
I noticed it yesterday when I was trying to type something using swype, when I finished letting go the screen started to randomly tap and drag letters without me even touching it. I stopped had to turn the screen off/on to get it to stop. I also notice that if I hold the phone vertically and move it around a bit it starts to drag the home screens back and forth. Also when I am at the phone menu it's hard to tap the exact number I want. If I tap 5 say, it will randomly either tap 5 or 8. It's liek it's not calibrated.
So I go to the display to calibrate it and it kind of sort of alleviates some of the other issues, but I still have inaccurate touces. Is it a program I removed perhaps from htc that is necessary for the screen.
I'm thinking of unrooting and doing a stock RUU for evo, but I primarily want all the sprint garbage apps off, is it possible to remove all that through adb on an unrooted phone?
