View 2 Replies View RelatedI am new to Android.. and smartphones for that matter. I am looking for a very simple app that has bill reminders. I do not really want it to have access to the network, therefore using data constantly.
I guess I just want to be able to put in my bills and have them show up on a screen so I can see what is due, and paid. A pop up reminder would be okay.
I downloaded Astrid, but it looks like that one uses network access constantly. I prefer this to not be the case. Does an app of this sort that does not access the network whenever it wants even exist?
I will be purchasing a droid tomorrow but it will be my company phone, when i download apps will i be able to pay out of pocket or will they be charged to the bill? I have never owned smartphone before so i don't know how they work.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI pre ordered my Evo couple weeks ago, and the other night I was talking to my mom about it when I brought up Tethering feature and her eyes lit up. She currently uses a Tracfone (yea I know hahahaha) and is asking about getting added on to my plan, which i don't mind. My parents go camping alot and my mom is kind of addicted to Facebook (Farmville in general), so shes trying to look into mobile internet. I know there's a $29.99 fee for activating the hotspot everymonth, but I'm curious if that she activated it on her Evo, and I also did later in the month, does it bill per phone, or plan? Anyone have an idea what I'm talking about?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm very close to buying the desire from mobiles.co.uk (110 handset) and Vodafone (600 mins, unlimited texts, 1gb internet, 24 months). I have a few questions which I would be incredibly grateful if you could help me with.
1.) - How do I put my iTunes music on to the Desire?
2.) - What is the PC Software like, and do they have or plan to have a iTunes version for Android any time soon?
3.) - Can you make folders on the Desire to put photos in?
4.) - Is 1GB enough, if I have 3G on but not using does this still eat up my allowance?
5.) - Can the Androids phones get viruses if you visit unsafe websites?
6.) - And with Vodafone does your monthly bill show the websites you have visited?
I have been a Sprint customer for a very long time. My wife and I both have smartphones and we have the Unlimited 1500 plan. To my knowledge, this includes everything (excluding International calls.....which I know for a fact thanks to an $1800 fraud that was on my bill 2 months ago). I digress, data roaming is included as a part of this plan as far as I know.
I checked my bill online yesterday, and there was an alert that I have used 3800+KB of data roaming.
Now....let me start by saying, yes, I do have the setting checked to allow for data roaming (as to my knowledge, it's included in my plan). I do have the Hero (my second one) and for the life of me, I can't figure out why it goes into roaming mode more than any other Sprint phone I've ever owned. My wife's phone could be sitting next to mine, and I'll be roaming while she is not. That being said, I can guarantee there have been instances where I've roamed and pulled down data (checking email, automatically checking weather/facebook/twitter/etc, internet) and I've never seen this alert on my account.
I called Sprint last night to question it, and they put a $20 service credit on my account. That's all fine and great, as I'm not going to turn down free money, but I had explained that my concern was that the alert is showing up to begin with. I even explained that while I appreciate the credit, I'd rather just have this situation resolved so that I don't have to call back next month if these charges appear.
My question is this, has anyone ever seen this before? I am rooted, I am running Fresh 2.1.1 and I have the latest SPRINT radio flashed from Flipz' website. I have had this setup for a little over 2 months now, so this isn't the first billing cycle that this setup has seen. I can't figure this out for the life of me.
If this continues to be a problem, it's either going to require a new device or a new carrier. I live in a very populated western suburb in Chicagoland and have NEVER had a problem with roaming or poor signal until I got the Hero in October.
I have had 3 replacement phones since launch. EVERY TIME I had the warranty replacement done they have charged me an additional $18 activation fee. It appears to be a scam on Sprints part. Watch your bill for this bogus charge then call and make them take it away. You should NEVER have to pay activation on a warranty replacement phone.
View 26 Replies View RelatedI would like to make some phone calls that do NOT appear on my Verizon phone bill. I have a DINC and want to call a cell phone. Both ends are in the US. I don't mind paying a service such as Skype. Is there a way to make this happen?
View 11 Replies View RelatedCan anyone tell me if there is an application for appointment reminders, I have always been able to enter an appointment and then get an alarm to remind me but can't find it on the G1.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat is the best performing app to set a reminder to do something? Not an appt, but just to remember to do. a task list or todo app that shows up on the home screen. For instance, I need to remember to bring something to work for tomorrow. Or, like, remember to buy eggs on the way home. On previous non android phones, it had the task list showing on the home screen.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy old phone had a calendar app that you could set the reminder BEFORE the event (i.e. 5', 10', etc) and then it would keep reminding you every 5 minutes AFTER the event until you picked up the phone and checked it.
To me that kind of reminder is very useful since you could have the phone in another area and not hear the initial reminder. You pick up the phone an hour later and the reminder is still there, physically on the screen and beeping. You can't miss it.
My new phone (Mytouch) will only remind you BEFORE the event. If I miss the reminder, I am out of luck. It doesn't beep anymore. It does nothing else. It will stay on the screen, but that's it. But then you have to physically check the phone all the time.
I'm looking for a reminder that will keep beeping (5' or so) to tell me that there is something there. i.e. Calendar, email, etc.
Is there a location based reminder app? For example, let's say I need something from the store. I would like an app that would remind you to go to the store when you are near one. It would be cool if you could select specific locations or use generic locations (based on what is in Google Maps maybe). Hopefully it uses the location service without using satellite GPS.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI really dislike the original messaging app. I want an app that has reminders, a custom vibrate, and an sms split, that ISN'T hancent sms. I used to use it until it randomly started deleting my all of my threads and sending texts to completely different people. I tried chompsms but I couldn't find reminders and I I'm currently using sms popup but that doesn't have the auto split sms. Any recommendations??
View 15 Replies View RelatedI have a Galaxy S4 and I set a google reminder to remind me to buy something when I am near a store. I didn't realize the reminder would go off every single time i pass within half a mile of the store. When it shows up on my phone, I can only click "snooze" or clear it, which will have it pop up again. If I click on the reminder, it just takes me to the default Google Now page that has the search screen and weather, etc. I tried removing it through Google Calendar but a search of my calendar shows up nothing matching it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am looking for an APP that will beep or vibe me when I fail to check a text message, e-mail or miss a phone call. I get some calls and texts and then if I do not answer them right away, I would like an alert. As it is right now, I get one alert or beep and that is it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't get reminders to either give me an alert sound, or appear in my notifications.
Notifications are enabled in Google Now settings, sound is turned on. I confirmed that the notification was added, the card shows in the list and has the correct time, but except for one attempt it never makes a sound or adds anything to my notifications. The same goes for alarms added via Google Now.
I have this same problem on Nexus 7 (latest Android) and HTC One (4.1), both with latest version of Google Now.
This is a very important function to me for a smart phone, I don't want to deal with a fiddly UI for this sort of thing when Google's voice recognition works so well. For something so basic to not work is very frustrating, considering how well I know this works on iPhone with Siri.
I just logged into my Verizon Online bill to check if my Google Voice settings are working.
I am seeing my cell number listed for a bunch of calls with the description "CL DELIVER"
Any idea what that means?
Since my number is showing up, I think it is being billed as Mobile to Mobile minutes, which are free, so it's not a big deal. Just wondering what it means.
I am having problems that when I manually or automatically sync my Gmail/Google calendar from my phone or - items and/or reminders are disappearing.
For instance, I am viewing my Gmail calendar and US Holidays Calendar in the Calendars view - I turned off/unchecked "My Calendar" and "PC Sync" calendar. I can add a reminder or two to father's day - which is June 20th and when I go back or press home I see it has saved the reminder and added a picture of a bell to the entry in my Agenda view. The reminder is there when I double check it.
But when I manually sync the calendar up with Google/Gmail sync in Accounts & sync OR let the Calendar automatically sync the alert will be taken off father's day.
I have had this problem with Events too... I will add a new event, it shows up and saves but I noticed it has disappeared from the Calendar after the sync has taken place.
Anyone else experiencing this? I looked at my Gmail/Calendar settings on the phone and Gmail online and can't find anything.
I have the HTC Incredible with Android 2.1.
I need a nice looking widget that I can put on my first homescreen that will show me calender appointments up to 2 weeks in advance. The 1x4 HTC calender widget on my Hero only shows events for today and tomorrow. I have tried Astrid but the widget is ugly. Are there any others? I would ideally like it to use the width of the screen and allow me to scroll through events.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have my Google calendars set up to default to no reminder when I enter a new event.
But on the EVO, I can't figure out how to do that. When I enter a new event there is an option to set the reminder as "none" for that event. But under calendar settings, "none" is not listed as one of the options for the default reminder time - there's nothing above 5 minutes on the drop-down list.
Anyone know if there's any way to do this? I just can't believe it's not an option and that I have to manually delete the reminder for every single event I enter into the calendar...
On my old LG Voyager, if I missed a call, text, or voice mail I had the phone remind me every 2 minutes with a notification sound.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI sync my HTC Hero with Outlook, but I can't get any reminders for any appointments. All events in Outlook have a 15 minute reminder and this also seems to be the case when viewing event details on the Hero, but alas! no reminders
My settings:
Calendar->Menu->Settings->Reminders->Reminder display : Show as alert (also tried "Show in notification bar")
Calendar->Menu->Settings->Reminders->All Calendars : checked
If I uncheck "All calendars" and chose Outlook in the "Apply settings to" it doesn't save my choice. The next time I go to the settings it has reverted back to "My Calendar".
There was this really cool app on s60 called "best reminder" - which every time you got a text you coud tell it to keep giving audio and vibrate notifications every X number of minutes till you acknowleged the alert
very handy if you missed the original alert sound with SMS popup on android you can do just that for sms alerts BUT is there an app that will do this with all notifications - not just sms but twitter alerts email alerts etc?
We have a lot of all-day events in our Google Calendar, which we want a *visual* reminder of.. but have no desire to be woken in the middle of the night by an *audible* alarm reminder.
I must be missing something so simple - but how do we turn the Calendar alarm off for these, or at least prevent it from sounding in the hours of darkness?
so how does this work i got a event i want to be reminded of, but it says 10 mins 5 mins ect... but does that mean ur reminded 5 mins before 10 mins before or reminded every 10 mins or 5 mins, because theres a option that says 1 week so idk that means it reminds u 1 week before or once a week.
