The first time issue it i give null as parameter to the function to the selection parameter is empty, meaning i don't filter any rows. The problem is i get only contacts i created myself using no syncAdapter. I used facebook app to synch my facebook contacts, but this query doesn't return them. I extracted the contacts.db from the emulator and the view_contacts view shows me all the contacts, so the DB is updated. What should i do to get all the contacts regardless of how they were created (with which synch adapter)

I'm trying to query the Contacts content provider outside an Activity. But managedQuery is a method of Activity. Is there any other class/method that I can use instead of managedQuery?

Is it possible to actually re-sort an Android SQL DB? for example, I want to resort the Bookmarks DB. I can query the data and sort it with "Browser.BookmarkColumns.TITLE + " ASC" in the query but this will only sort the list shown to the user and will not sort the DB itself. Therefore, if a user uses my app to sort the Bookmarks by Title(ASC) and then goes to the Android Browser Bookmarks - the order will remain default (other than the one selected on my app).

I noticed something weird...HTC Hero only synced contacts photos that were set by the HTC Touch Pro originally! and didn't sync any contact photo was set by the iPhone! sure thing the photos are working with Outlook without problem and I was able to sync them to the Touch Pro without a problem...

View 3 Replies View RelatedSome of my contacts photos update, some never do, some do it randomly. Yes I sync, I update through the contact, I've tried everything I can think of. Whats the trick here? Yes they are all linked because they have pictures but some have pictures from 5 months ago!
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there any way with the stock apps, or with another app, to put the photo of frequently called/messaged contacts directly on a page; so that simply touching the icon will open up messaging to that person? I am coming from a WinMo phone and used the ContactPro app, which allowed for this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to edit a contact photo from the address book, when I select a photo from my album I always get the message "unable to save photo edits", and the app just hangs until i close it.
The contact photos i have are already linked to my contacts on my GMail account, and sync across, but want to edit with higher quality images.
Just a quick question, i have set up my contacts to link to facebook accounts, linking their profile pictures to, however when any of the contacts call and their photo is displayed whilst ringing, it is quite fuzzy is this the same for everyone? i also tried taking a photo off the hero camera and using that instead, picture looked great in the viewer, but when i attach it to a person and they ring, its dead fuzzy again.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi've just upgraded to the Desire & am liking many things in it, but this issue bugs me:i've synced & linked the contacts in my 'people' app. in some cases, this involved linking the FaceBook profile of a person with a pre-exisitng phone number in my phone/sim card. The problem is that the phone seems to default to the Facebook 'profile picture' as the icon/photo that shows up in my People app (for that contact), even if tell it not to.I've tried downloading new pics, or taking a photo with the camera, and then manually setting this as the 'icon' for a certain person. This works for a while (a few hours?) and then within one day, the phone automatically re-sets this icon & replaces it with the Facebook profile pic. again.

This may seem like a stupid question but I need to be sure. I was wondering if it was possible to pro-grammatically change the Content Provider used when making a query given a Content URI. The reason being I need to know if it's possible to force the Calendar/Contacts applications to read from a different database via a different Content Provider temporarily while my application is running, so that I can reuse those applications to display my own data. Since the Content URI s are hard coded in each of these applications the only way it might be possible is if we could somehow temporarily change the Content Provider used for a given URI. I know this probably isn't possible, I just need to show it isn't. Could someone confirm this can't be done?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI could be missing this, but is there a way to send/tag a photo to facebook from the photo itself? The Facebook app for my blackberry lets me do this. If I pull up a photo I just took, I have the option of sending it to Facebook, as well as tagging it. I can't figure out how to do this on my Moment.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am having a hard time understanding content providers. In the notepad example and others, the content provider never even declares its CONTENT_URI anywhere inside itself, yet the docs say to publicly declare this. It's declared in a different class. So when an activity queries a content provider with a CONTENT_URI, how does Android know which one I want. I see no link between a content provider and its CONTENT_URI declared in another class.
I also don't how to think about intents and content providers. I know that you don't call an intent on a content provider. But an activity queries a content provider without an intent, and an activity has a mimetype attribute in the manifest that would seem to tie it to a content provider.
Camera app or organizer app that actually moves pictures instead of just displays them differently via a viewing app?
For example it would be great to have photos automatically go into pre-set albums or quickly and easily reorganize them afterwards etc. I know I can manually move them via file managers but looking for a dedicated app with different options/filters etc.
how can i create a custom content provider like contact content provider? i know how to create custom content providers but i want to integarte to device such a way that it canbe accessed by all application installed in that device.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHere are two pics, one from my canon dslr and one from the HTC evo. Both were reduced by Photo bucket because of a file size restriction. Not bad for a cell phone camera, imo. Sorry, but I didn't have time to do some other examples, Canon T1I, 18-55mm lens, set to 8MP, full auto On the left HTC Evo 4g, 8MP, full auto On the right.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI seem to be having a sync issue with my Droid. When I add a contact to my phone, it doesn't sync into "My contacts" in Gmail; it'll sync into "All contacts". So, a couple of questions:
1) How can I get the phone to add new contacts created on my Droid into "My contacts" in Gmail?
2) I'm trying to understand the point of "All contacts". Why does Gmail want to keep a list of anyone that I've ever sent an email to? Otherwise, it'll be simple enough to just merge the two groups and call it a day.(Note: When I bought my Droid I did NOT have the VZW sales person transfer my contacts or any data from my old Blackberry to my Droid. I used Google Sync on my BB and synced my contacts from my BB to Gmail, then when I got the Droid, it automatically pulled my contacts from Gmail.)(FWIW, yes, I did a search and found two great threads: http://androidforums.com/support-troubleshooting/15042-how-do-i-push-droid-contacts-back-gmails-my-contacts.html and http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/15069-contacts-dont-really-synchronize.html but I have a different situation than most of those guys and I'd actually prefer to sift through and merge a couple of contacts from "All contacts" to "My contacts" every once in a while than deal with a backup and factory reset.)
i hook up my G1 to my laptop and open a 'adb shell'. But as I execute the command 'cd /data/data', I get an error 'opendir failed, Permission denied' adb devices List of devices attached HT853GZ21556 device .I tried to cd the the right directory and then do 'sqlite3 <mydatabase>.db'.How can i dump the content of the database on a real device?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'd like to be able to read the system's SMS content provider. View 6 Replies View Relatedmy android application is handling a large database of bus passage time and we would like to allow others application to be able to display certains bus passage time. We would like to use a content provider to do that. Most example seems to be about using an SQL database, but we use some custom text file. I was wondering what would be the best way to do that. I was thinking I could use a Content Provider and implement the Cursor interface on a custom object that I would manually fill with my text data. Would this be possible ? Anyone have a better idea (excluding changing to SQL lite of course)?
