View 2 RepliesI would like to know the way to make a user interface for Android for people that have low vision. The idea is to make a UI with the following features: 1- Uses very very big buttons. 2 -Uses very big font size. 3- Te colors to use are basically black and white (for more contrast). 4- The icons in this UI are not relevant. 5- We must sacrifice the number of chars that we can show in the screen to get bigger labels and buttons. 6- A simple zoom system for the images should be a great idea. 7- We can use the camera of the phone to get a magnifying glass. I'm member of a blind people association in Spain and we think that this should be a great idea for begining a new low-vision-user- interface that is not aviable in the market for the new mobile phones. This will help many people that uses movile phones but have many difficulties to work with them.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to buttons of different colors, but I want to do so while using the default button background resource in order to preserve the onfocus and onclick states. This is because I want to use the default highlight color of the OS for my app, which is NOT always orange (HTC Sense makes it green).I found that adding a color filter to the button's background drawable works great (in this case, blue).
View 3 Replies View RelatedHow could I be able to change text color in buttons? From the image, I tried changing the boxed text from '<item name="textColor">@color/primary_text_holo_light</item>', and creating my own drawable xml file to link it with that. Color change seems successful, but it also affects other holo white buttons as well (see image). I don't want it to happen, for it renders those buttons unreadable.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI cobbled all of this together from various places on the web, but I think the credit for the binaries goes to Paul @ MoDaCo.
Nandroid before going any further!
Files you'll need:
QuickSSHD (Download this from the Market. $1.50). I'm just going to assume if you're still reading, you know what this is for and how to use it. It's braindead simple. I think dropbear can be installed and configured manually, but for the $1.50...meh.
The rest are zipped up here: terminfo.zip, nano, bash, profile**
Unzip bashnano.zip onto your SDCard.
From adb shell:
CODE:.................
I'm not sure if this setup will have any impact on sh scripts being used in the various ROMs, so use this at your own risk.
This will give you full bash over adb, but I haven't figured out where profile goes to add terminal/color et al. for adb.
Can we somehow get android 4.4 color emoji on Android 4.2.2? I don't mind replacing some system files. Obviously Apple emojis would be cool, but they use some proprietary stuff in the ttf file.

View 2 Replies View Relatednow that we have a beautiful custom battery icon (thanks again Kelmar!) I would like to try to do some more customizations. My Hero is SO close to what I like now, only need one more change to make it perfect. I'd like to figure out how to change all of the green highlighting to blue on the Hero. (Like on the ZenRom) Things like: when you press a button (say the call button, as an example) or icon or widget, and things like the progress bar in the browser... also things like the unread mail indicator, and the rating stars in the market...etc. Kelmar and I have been reading on XDA, and have tried many things, and we are getting nowhere. Everything seems to lead to a very long tedious process. It would seem to us that some of this might be able to be easily changed in one file, to make the change throughout the rom, but we could be wrong. We wonder if anyone here could help out with how to do this.
View 31 Replies View RelatedI am trying to mimic buttons (Apps, Games, Downloads) as seen in Android Market application Checking the configuration of TabWidget, I think it's not possible to create this simple design with it. I decided to use simple buttons and try to create custom design following answer to similar question. But still I cannot clone the design (gradient, divider, bottom line etc). Are there any provided details how Google Android applications are built?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a need to create a control similar to UITabBar in iPhone, which is to be present on every activity of my application. UITabBar essentially is a battery of buttons exhibiting a TAB like behavior: every button maps to an activity. I have two solutions for this: 1. In the layout XML for every activity, I insert a <LinearLayout><Button/><Button/><Button/></LinearLayout> element. And then have a common listener class that will handle the button clicks. So, every activity will have an instance of this listener. 2. To create a custom Widget extending LinearLayout class, put all the buttons as its static members and let it handle the button clicks. Include this custom control in every screen. I am not sure which approach to follow.

How do I create such a dialog? Having 2 line subtitle and three distinctive buttons.
In my app I want to create something like this: I thought to put five buttons inside a linear layout, but the problem is how to show the inner items at run time. Every time i click on a button i want to show the proper items and hide the others.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there any documentation that explains how to create buttons in the style of the new market app on the top of the screen? I'm not sure if they're actually buttons or tabs, but I want to recreate that button style in my app (flat gradient buttons that dynamically fill the entire height/width depending on orientation).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI currently have implemented an overlayitem that shows an icon for geopoint on a map application in Android. When the icon is clicked, it brings up an AlertDialog from the onTap method below.Does anyone know how to display a map message bubble directly above the icon overlayitem with 2 callout buttons one to the left of the title and one to the right of the bubble? Does anyone know how to make the overlayitem draggable so I can press and hold it and drag it across the map. I am trying to duplicate the draggable icon behavior that's available on the iPhone.

I'm trying to develop a very specific app for my Dell Streak. I want the entire app to run landscape. The Streak has a tilt function that switches the whole OS to a landscape 800x480.
So I want to make an ADT to test in that uses an 800x480 display, but whenever I set the size I get no buttons. The Streak has a Home, Menu and Back button aswell as volume/mute and power, and I need to use some of them for my application.
I'm not worried about the tilting messing up my application. Not yet, anyway. Just need the test environment the right size and with buttons.

I am not able to find out the perfect layout(viewgroup) to place four buttons as shown in the attached image. Basically, i want to place four buttons near the top/left/bottom/right edge of the screen. AbsoluteLayout helped, but it is deprecated (It is also better to avoid AbsoluteLayout as it is not very flexible for orientation changes)

Is there any process to change the default text color white to "Black" and default selection color of android "orange" to "Blue" for whole project. i am using Eclipse for Android development.
View 3 Replies View Related1. I want to use my own color for selecting ui views.
By default, android shows the selected view with background as orange. I want to show the view background color as red.
2. In the same way, I want the same behaviour should be applied to whole application.
I have seen this example:
@*android:color/secondary_text_light
What's that * asterisk doing there? What is the difference when using or not?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn android, when I press on a TextView, the text changes color (from white to grey). how can I disable that functionality?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI got a little textview defined in layout xml:
CODE:.........
As you can see the background color is "background_light" (this results in white color) and the text color is "primary_text_light" (this results in black color).
I would have thought that primary_text_light would result in a "light" color like white, not black ;-)
When i change "primary_text_light" into "primary_text_dark" the text color becomes color white.
Is this a bug in the naming of the default colors?
