I have got an edit text where I want that when someone insert her values it will narrow his option's. the options are stored in a DB (up to 1200 values to one editbox ). i cant get the concept of how to do it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to write an application with a list of items read in from a file. This item list and the fields that go with each item are fed into a DB. The item names are presented to the user as an auto- completing list. Once the list item is selected, I would like to get the value from the list and use it to query the database and display all the detail information.
The problem I am having is trapping the event using onItemSelectedListener and onItemSelected.
Below is what I am trying.
CODE:..............
This doesn't compile, but it has the fewest syntax errors.
How to get an OnItemSelectedListener to work? and how I grab the value selected?
I have a shared prefrences which stores the user each time it login, i simply replace the existing user in shared prefrences when 2nd user login.

my Galaxy S4. My service is through Sprint and all apps and system updates are done. While I understand the latest system update has a lot of problems, the one issue I have had has been going on for quite some time. My music player autostarts. The player I am referring to is the 'MUSIC' app (the one where the icon looks like a blue circle and has a green musical note on it.) The trigger seems to be when I get calls from a blocked number. My company's outgoing calls are automatically blocked so each time I get a call from a coworker my phone launches into whatever song I last played instead of ringing. It doesn't matter if the phone was muted - the volume is on so everyone gets to hear the latest tune. Along with the unexpected musical interlude, I don't get any indication of the incoming call.
View 3 Replies View Relatedthe application AutoStarts (URL>...), which can be used to disable apps that starts automatically (boot time, auto) no longer updated since 2011. Moreover, it does not seem to work in JellyBean, as some apps I know starts in the background is not shown in the AutoStarts app.
WHICH service is starting, so it can actually break the app. Any recommendation for AutoStarts replacement?
I type out websites on Whatsapp and in my browser on a regular basis, but with auto-complete I end up saving and typing words that I didn't intend to because of the format of a URL. I could turn auto-complete off, but I still need it when I'm doing regular texting.
Is there any keyboard with a button that can turn auto-complete on/off when pressed? Or perhaps a home screen shortcut that can do this?
I can't even make a custom shortcut to the language & keyboard, and doing it manually takes too long.
I recently got the G1 and used my Gmail account online (via computer) to setup my contact list and then sync it to my G1. Now when I compose an SMS message, and begin typing the name of the person in my contact list, only some of the names that match will appear in the drop down auto-complete list but others that match don't show up at all. To compose SMS to them I have to use the Contacts>Scroll to contact>Select text to mobile method. Any ideas why some of the contacts do not show up in the auto-complete list when composing an SMS and typing in a partial name in the To field?

I've had a look at the public methods available on Multi Auto Complete Text View but can't find anything on how to pass my own filter to it. Any idea how to do this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI updated my Nextheme 2.1 droid to the new Froyo (gonna check out Fabs newest in a few minutes here) but one thing I have noticed is that for some reason whenever my droid is connected to a computer it auto starts USB Mass storage. I cannot for the life of me find out where I go to stop this from auto connecting, sometimes I just plug my droid into the computer to charge while I am working. Normally when I want the USB storage enabled I use SD share widget.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have only had my fascinate for a couple of days but I already love swype. However, I am having a problem with the auto complete. Whenever I input an 'a' the first option on auto complete is ' asw@armysurpluswarehouse.com' which is apparently from one of my google contacts. Since the web address has a period in it I am unable to select the entire thing at once by double tapping so that I can tell swype to take the word out of the dictionary it uses.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen texting I enjoy the use of auto-complete using the glass keyboard. Except auto-complete wants to change short-hand "words" to real words of different meanings. My work-around is to open the physical keyboard and edit. Is there a way to disable predictive text for a single word? That way "GF" doesn't change to "Greg", for example.
Sometime I'll look into this auto-correct for the physical keyboard: You want predictive text wth physical keyboard here is how you do it. You are welcome - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum
I couldn't find a way to type some special chars such as #, $ and = with the QWERTY keyboard.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for an alarm clock app with one very specific feature - allow me to set the alarm tone to automatically stop after X seconds, then start again at the next snooze interval, and play for another X seconds.
Sure it seems every alarm app out there allows me to set Snooze intervals and stuff, but with my waking up habit, I don't like to physically have to touch the phone to get it to shut up until the next snooze interval. I like to lay in bed and let the alarm go for like 3-4 snooze intervals before I finally wake up.
I've tried Alarm Clock PlusV2, Alarm Clock Xtreme, Quick Alarm. None of them seem to have this.
I installed it on my Droid and when I open the list and long press on an app it gives me the option to Auto-Kill. I assume this means I won't have to kill this app any longer so I select this option but I find that I keep having to kill the same apps over and over again. What's the point of Auto-Kill or what am I doing wrong? There are lots of programs (most I didn't even install) that run all the time and I'm having battery issues so I don't have battery to waste on programs I'm not using and will probably never use.
View 22 Replies View RelatedAs you know, you can't have capital letters in your image filenames that you use in your Android project (Ressource/Drawables folder). I've got hundreds of small images (GOOG.GIF as an exemple) that I need to import into my project (I usually do a simple drag and drop from a desktop folder into Eclipse). How do I quickly change all the filenames (replace all capital letters to lower case) before importing into my project?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to tell Android to do the following when setting the background image for a TextView?
1. Scale the image so that it's just large enough to fill the the entire viewing area without any black borders, while still maintaining its aspect ratio. This might require clipping once the image is actually displayed, but that's OK (read on).
2. Then, center the image in the viewing area, both horizontally and vertically.
3. Finally, clip the image to the size of the viewing area, without any further rescaling.
I'm guessing that this kind of image processing is not automatically done via any of Android's facilities, and that I'll have to do it myself. If this is a correct assumption, could someone point me to some documentation or some examples which could explain how I can accomplish this? I'm guessing that I'll have to subclass my TextView and implement my own onDraw() method, but could someone confirm or deny that assumption?
Probably as many others i decided to move on from i phone platform to android and bought a new Desire 2 days ago and trying to catch up with it. I am generally very impressed with the device except 1 critical issue I'm having: When typing very fast in the keyboard, the keyboard gets lost completely, i am very fast typing person and do a lot of emails I'm text etc. I can see when typing that random letters kick in the text. I did a test by fast typing letters A-L to see exactly and a random latter like G, F being inserted without my interaction while I'm pressing only A and L. This is mostly happening in vertical mode. Landscape is much better Can someone tell me what is going on please? I did calibration many times and no result. I downloaded keyboards from the Market - nothing. I goggled the web for something - nothing there. Has some came across this issue? it is so frustrating and if i don't find solution how to fix it i will have to return it to a shop.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC Magic running 1.6, but this has been happening since I've had the phone. Basically, when using the default keyboard (which, incidentally, seems tonnes better since the update - it's made me not care that HTC IME doesn't work) it'll sometimes miss usually two key presses. And the phone physically recognizes then, because they pop up above my finger, but they never appear in the text entry field. It's bizarre - does it happen to anyone else, and does anyone else know how to fix it? (Incidentally, does anyone else regularly hit the key instead of space bar by accident. It annoys the piss out of me.)
