Sep 22, 2010What's the deal with this? It appears that only some apps can be moved to the SD card. I have been using ApptoSD which works fine but only works on a few apps. Why won't it work with everything? I keep running out of space on my phones memory and would love to move the bulk of my apps to the SD card.

Oct 15, 2010I have a Droid X running 2.2. I'm trying to understand the advantages of storing apps on the SD Card vs Phone storage. Since the Droid X comes with 8GB of phone storage, I've got lots of room there.What would be some reasoning behind moving apps to the SD card? I see lots of people get excited when a favorite app adds SD card support, but why exactly? Maybe it's more of an advantage for phones with less phone storage? Also, how come in manage applications, it says that the app takes up way less space when it's on the SD Card? For example, I just installed Angry Birds and it put itself on the SD Card when it installed. It showed 1.83MB in size. When I moved it to the SD Card, it showed 14.06MB.

It is really cool that all the applications are free, but the G1 phone doesn't have a lot of on board memory, so please implement the feature to install applications on the SD Card. That is the only comment I have. A lot of people are Jailbreaking their phones just so they can get to that feature. Please consider it. Thank you. One more thing-If you can make it possible to save the browser cache data on the SD card as well will be awesome.

As in can I drag and drop copy the entire contents of my old micro SD card into my computer, then drag and drop copy the entire contents into a new micro SD card, and the applications will still work fine? Even brand new the HTC Desire seems to only have 100MB to download and install applications on so I find it much more sense being able to store and install them on a 32GB microSD card. My internal memory is full now and I barely have any apps installed on it yet have about 900 applications I can install so I at least want to put more on!

I presume one might want to move apps to the SD card to "free up some space" but is that the ONLY reason to move the apps to the card?? I want to back up my apps though, so I go into manage applications and pick an app, but the 'move to SD card' option is grayed out. Aug 5, 2009I've been hearing that with android you cannot install apps on an SD memory card? Does that mean you have to use the onboard memory of 512mb? That wont hold many apps AT ALL. If so that is a horrible choice by HTC to not incorporate a big storage and forget about the use of an SD card.
