Android :: Application Doesn't Start From Eclipse

Jun 14, 2010

I'm using Eclipse on Windows to develop Android application. So when I'm trying to run the app, the system outputs to console

starts the emulator, but doesn't upload the .apk and doesn't start the activity. So, app is not started anyway.

I found a "solution" here, but it's unclear and seems to not work. For example, I don't know, which "emulator processed" are meant to be killed. I found adb.exe only. And that's the main point: sometimes I'm lucky enough to kill all that they wanted and start the app. But it's undetermined.

Android :: In Eclipse - Way To Start Application In More Than One Emulator At The Same Time?

Oct 19, 2010

When testing Android layouts, I'm constantly building for three different emulators from Eclipse (with ADT), so I have to run three times and then select each one. Is there any configuration or plugin that allows me to press Run once and the application is started in all three?

Android :: Eclipse Won't Start A New Droid Project Anymore / What To Fix It

Oct 19, 2010

A few weeks ago, I followed a tutorial to get Eclipse and the Android Development Kit up and running. I successfully built the test application and ran it on a virtual device.

Tonight I finally went back to do the next step in the tutorial, but when I went to start a new project there wasn't an option to start a new Android project. Even searching for it didn't produce anything. Window -> Preferences doesn't have an Android preferences dialog, either. The developer tools are still installed, though, according to Help -> Install New Software.

I'm using Eclipse Galileo 3.5.2 on Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat. I just recently upgraded. I remember I had to install some additional packages to get Eclipse to run the Android stuff last time. I haven't uninstalled those, so I don't know what's causing the problem.

What's causing this problem, and what can I do to fix it?

Eclipse Will Not Start

Mar 5, 2013

I installed the Android ADT with eclipse. When I tried to run eclipse, I got an error that it could not find Java. The first thing I did was uninstall and reinstall Java, getting me to the 7.17 update.... Then I managed to figure out where they now hide the path command, and got WIndows to include my Java directory in the path. That moved me forward. Now I am getting a "Failed to load the INI shared library "c:.....jvm.dll" message. On another forum they suggested changing eclipse.ini to include a -vm pathname. The path shown in the error message matches the path where this DLL file exists.

I have a Java app that stopped loading when I installed eclipse and the ADT. Now it just fails to load with no error message.

Android :: Why Doesn't Eclipse Always Install APK?

Jan 14, 2010

I'm using the Android plugin for Eclipse on OSX, latest versions of everything. When I run or debug my app, Eclipse is very inconsistent about uploading/installing the new APK. Nothing I seem to do has any effect on this. Clean builds, debug, whatever, there seems to be about 50/50 chance of installing the APK. Or not. If not, then I have to kill the emulator and try again. What is going in?

Android :: ADT Plugin Doesn't Show Up In Eclipse

Sep 16, 2010

I'm using Windows 7 and installed the 64 bit version of Eclipse 3.5.2. I then installed the Android ADT plugin, but when I try to configure it in the Windows > Preferences dialog, the Android Plugin doesn't show up in the left pane. Instead I see DDMS. This prevents me from specifying the location of the Android SDK (unless there is another way) to give me the appropriate templates and such.

Android :: Fedora Eclipse Doesn't Let Me Install ADT Plugin

Oct 2, 2009

I have a problem installing the ADT plugin in Fedora's version of Eclipse. I'm not sure it is a problem with the plugin, it's probably more Fedora's team fault (they heavily personalized and modified eclipse in Fedora's repository).

I installed the version of Eclipse that is included in Fedora's official repos, which is based on version 3.4.2 build 20090211-1700. I've followed the step-by-step instruction provided in Android's website. The problem arises when I go into the Help -> Software updates window. When I select the two plugins to install, it lets me install the DDMS, but not the Developer Tools. If i try (select Developer Tools then click Install) it gives me the following error message (after calculating space and dependencies):

At first, I thought I had not installed some packages (org.eclipse.equinox.p2.iu and/or org.eclipse.wst.sse.core), so I opened YumEX and searched for those pacckages... but they are not available in Fedora's repositories.

Android :: SDK Compiled Successfully But With Eclipse It Doesn't Work / Fix It

Oct 11, 2010

I spent a full day to get my Android SDK sources in my setup and compiled it successfully by doing the File System for x86 and also the SDK, everything was fine but when I tried to use it in my environment (Eclipse) and tried to compile my application (which is working fine on Froyo 2.2), I'm seeing some errors, which seems that I did not get the entire SDK with all the base packages included.

Steps to reproduce:

# repo sync to android sources. # make # make sdk # make Eclipse to point to the new SDK, generated at: .../out/host/ linux-x86/sdk/android-sdk_eng.david_linux-x86/ # generate a new AVD # launch it and run the application

If I'm missing something else.

Android :: Debugging Project In Eclipse Suddenly Doesn't Work Anymore

Aug 15, 2010

I am developing on Windows machine.I was working quite well until yesterday, when I saw the the update prompt and updated my ADT plugin. Today when I tried debugging my test project, I experienced either one the following cases:

1) Logcat stops forever on the message "sending wait chunk".

2) Logcat shows the following message, and test project fails:

3) Eclipse stops responding.

The above cases happens even when the test unit contains nothing. Also it just doesn't not work in debug. The test case runs successfully if it is not in debug mode (But there are still some glitches, like Logcat sometimes won't emit debug messages).

Android :: Eclipse Doesn't Recognize Style In Droid Layout Builder / Why Is So?

Nov 4, 2009

Since Android supports styles and it's good practice to use them (similar to CSS), I made a new style and applied it to 3 buttons.

The Layout builder in Eclipse did not register the changes and either broke (showed nothing) or didn't apply styles at all.

After running the app in the emulator, styles are correctly applied.

So is there something I'm missing or the Android plugin doesn't support styles?

General :: Play Store Doesn't Start (FC)

Mar 27, 2013

I have a problem on my HTC One S (S4) everything Stock (again)... no root, bootloader locked etc.. (but don't think the problem is device specific)

Yesterday i saw under notifications that "google+" is auto-updating to latest version. but because of i don't want to use google+ (and i can't uninstall it), i pressed and hold (during the update-process - on the notifications bar) and tapped on "App Info". From there i selected to stop the task, cleared the data and deactivated. Then it was gone also from the notifications. -- i know i could have tapped only once and stopped the update in playstore, but i just wanted to make it quick.

But the problem started there: when i want to open playstore, it shows up for a second then closes back again with a FC. Reboot didn't worked.

I have done clearing data of "Google Play Store" and "Google Services Framework" and rebooting but this did not solve the problem.i received 3 Update-Notifications for some apps but when i tapped on the notification, playstore opens then closes after a second the same way.

I got also a (as far as i remember) FC-error sometimes..I wanted to install the playstore from an apk, but interestingly i couldn't download anything from the (stock) internet browser (the download does simply not start or the download-page closes). I also tried with Chrome to download, but there i even got FCs when i wanted to download anything. So i think this has to do something with the there a way i could fix this, without restoring the whole phone?

Also if I had an Android object and typed it followed by a period, it would show me all the allowed functions. Now it doesn't do either, just shows me java info. Don't know what I did, since this used to work. I updated everything, but still no joy.

General :: Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 Doesn't Start After FolderMount Reboot

Nov 23, 2013

I recently bought a new spacious SD card for my new phone and decided to move all my files there. I was having trouble with the apps so I found out FolderMount could be useful. I rooted my device without any problems and checked it too before using FolderMount. However when I opened FolderMount it said it needed to patch/repair something so I hit OK. After that it said You can reboot your device now. so I did. After that my device starts and stands still after the samsung logo is shown. I wouldn't call it freeze because I can see it's still working (the background of the samsung logo gets a blue gradient every second) but I'm beginning to worry about it since it has been in that state for like more than an hour. Rebooting wont work.
