View 2 RepliesIs there an app that displays the location (state and/or city area) of an area code of a call as it is received? i had a samsung blade (a900 or something) that would display the state of the area code right below the number as the call showed up, and that phone is like 4-5 years old so i know this can't be too hard to do...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to obtain my location using android 2.1 through "Provider_Network" but the problem is it uses both cell towers and Wifi Access Point. i only want to obtain my location through Wifi Access point and not through cell towers? any idea how to do it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to find out if the user is still within range of his own area code. Detecting roaming doesn't solve the problem since the user may still be in the same network with a different area code. I thought about getting the user's coarse location to find the city he's is in but this approach needs Internet access and might not be fast enough (this is done as the user is making a call and needs to finish before the call is made). Is there any way I can do this with just the info from the cellular network?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI know that I can get some informations from the Sim card by using the TelephonyManager class, but I couldn't find any specific method to get its country and area code, and also if the user is on roaming the area code would probably change to the location he currently is.

I want to obtain the current Local Area Code of the Cell the handset is currently loged in to.
How do I get this information?
in my area code, i have to dial it before dialing a local number. is there a setting on the phone (evo4g) that will automatically place the area code infront of a 7 digit dialed number?
View 5 Replies View Relatedthis kinda sucks unless someone has an answer, Any phone numbers on my last phone that were in my area code, I never had to enter it when putting in the user for the caller id to show up properly so right now I have all my number with a 631 area code not showing up on the caller id as the name because 631 is not in there number on my phone, I am in 631, I shouldn't need to put 631 before every number when I store it for it to show up properly.... in my phone I have a user, we will call her Tara, My phone and hers are 631 area codes so in my phone it says Tara - Mobile - 555-5555 BUT when she calls, her caller id does not show her name,

View 15 Replies View RelatedDo I really need to change all my phone numbers to have area codes in them? When people call, for example, it shows 619-423-5666 instead of "Work" which is saved as 423-5666. Do I really have to change every one of them and start saving numbers w/ zip code?
View 21 Replies View RelatedIs there some way to program my phone so it knows my local area code? Reason I ask is that I never entered area codes for many the contacts on my old phone, which are all on my SIM card, because I could enter my area code into memory.I just got my Aria, and when I get a call from a contact within my area code, their contact name, which is saved on the SIM card, does not come up. Instead, their entire number, with area code comes up. Do I need to go in and input the area code for all of my contacts that have the same area code as me???
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently started using Google Hangouts instead of SMS (TextMessaging). The only issue I have is that the numbers I havent added any areacode to gets the areacode for Sweden (+46), and this is ONLY on Google Hangouts.
When I go back to the regular SMS app, the areacode is removed, and I can again send SMS without sending it to Sweden first.
I'm from Norway if it matters (+47). But the phone itself is imported from Sweden, but I'm using Norwegian as language. I checked my gmail. I have my country set to Norway.
why I need to enter the area code when I text people with the Epic? I had a lg phone before hand and I did not have to do that at all.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am going crazy! Every time I try to text my wife's phone from my contacts, it removes the area code and errors out when trying to send. I have edited the contact info and sure enough it has the correct 10 digit number. I have tried deleting the her contact info and recreating it. No dice. I again deleted her contact info, went to her phone and sent a text to mine and replied. The incoming message has the correct 10 digit number. Replying again stripped the area code and tried to use the 7 digit number. Of course this failed.Any ideas? I need some help here. I am not sure if this is an issue with the phone or with AT&T.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have looked and looked for a solution to this problem and have not found one. I see others are having the same problem though.I have the Droid X I am using the messaging that the phone came with not an added app (I am on Verizon). When I try to reply to a text from my husband I get a message saying "unable to deliver. Please re-send with area code". He is in my address book with an area code and the callback number has the area code. But next to his name it does not have the area code (again, it is entered in my phone with an area code). I have tried to delete his phone number, text my phone with his phone, and reply, but that still does not work. It is so frustrating and weird. Even when I do not have him in the address book the call back number (shown as cb#) has the area code, but up higher when his name would be does not have the area code.
View 5 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know why Google Voice requires an area code to call? I understand that the number it dials from could be from anywhere, so it may need an area code to complete the call, but how about an option to dial a default area code when the person does not enter one?
View 9 Replies View RelatedOn my sister's phone (and I've checked the contact, and reentered the number) when she receives a message from a certain number, the other number on her account and replies to it, the message seems to be sent to the 7 digit number, without area code, and so it fails. She keeps having to resend messages, as a new message, to the number typed in in full. On receiving a reply, simply responding to it results in another failure. This is samsung moment to samsung moment, only happens with the one contact, and doesn't happen on mine.

I'm writing an android application that collects cell signal strengths.I am having trouble getting the "current" cell signal strength, but I don't have any problem getting the "neighboring" cell signal strengths. To get the current cell signal strength, I created a PhoneStateListener and implemented the onSignalStrengthChanged callback. It works, but not very well.It seems like the signal strength hardly ever changes, and resolution jumps to only a few numbers.I would accept the answer that the resolution of the signal strength hardware is coarse, but when I use the TelephonyManager's getNeighboringCellInfo() method, it works much better. The signal strength readings from neighboring cells change frequently, and they have much better resolution. So, how can I get the current cell signal strength in the same way that I am getting the neighboring cell strengths? It seems odd to me that the functionality of the neighboring cells is better than the current cell.

I have got a picture (bigger then the screen) and I want to be able to move it up/down and to the left/right. Further I want to place smaler icons (like the stage, you should be able to click on it and see who is playing) or doing the same in de big picture and get the touch with a x/y request.but I haven't got an idea how I could realise this,

View 2 Replies View RelatedWith the stock pic on the eris is there a way to have pics that are sent to you in a saved location that can only be accessed by a code etc?
Basically, the degrading pics your bros send you. Wife, rightfully so, gets upset when she sees them in my phone and does occasionally look at my phone to cure her bouts of insecurity
I want to have it so if you look at pics you see certain ones but have to go extra steps to see the others.
How can I turn off "Cell Standby"
Battery used by cell radio?
Does this just mean I am in a bad cell zone? This is my reading at home and it is the top battery usage on the chart, followed by wifi at 24% (on because I am home), and phone idle at 23%.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm developing a mapping app using Eclipse 3.5.I'm setting the minimum update period with the LocationManager's requestLocationUpdates method, via a configuration activity. When I set the property I see in Logcat that the system process sets the value OK.When I actually send a new location from the DDMS emulator control and the location changes on the map view, I see that the system process then sets the minimum time to zero.Below is a capture of the system's log messages. You can see that I'm setting the period to 32 seconds, then 16, then, after I've sent a simulated location change the system sets it to zero. The map responds to location changes to location changes instantly even if they are sent only a couple of seconds apart.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an application which uses the network as the location provider (rather than GPS eg.), however I can't seem to figure out how to send the emulator test coordinates. In DDMS I would usually send coordinates in the Emulator Control tab.Is there a place to simulate coordinates derived from the cell phone network provider?
