I am trying to implement the phone book for android phone and I want to access the number of the phone book ,I can access only the name that the number save in phone book. way I can access the number .I am using the code for accessing the number is.....................

I'm really new in Android programming, so I have a simple question getting a phone number from contacts in my application. The method I want to implement is that the user clicks a button in my app and will be forwarded to the contacts. In contacts user has to click on a phone number and this number should be returned to a textfield. Is there a simple way to do this instead to implement it by ContentResolver?

I am working on Android SDK 1.5, I need to read the person name, phone number & Email ID from the phone book. I searched on forums - net & got some guidelines to read the contacts & the phone number of a person. But could not find any way to retrieve the email-id from phone book. They had me type in some random string of numbers to the phone dial pad and it took me to a screen where I set my phone's ID and other stuff manually (that the activation call would do automatically). View 1 Replies View RelatedI've experienced two problems with Google Voice that are causing me to get charged minutes I wouldn't usually get charged. If I can't solve them, I'll have to go back to using my Verizon number. First, let me say that I'm using a new Google Voice number that isn't Verizon cell phone number or any other preexisting number. Second, my girlfriend is on my family plan, but she doesn't have GV yet. We're using the 700-minute plan, so we don't have a friends circle.
Problem 1: When I call my girlfriend's Verizon wireless phone using the GV on my Verizon phone, I get charged, and when she calls my GV number on my Verizon Wireless phone from her Verizon wireless phone, she gets charged. We don't cash in on our free in-network calling. I know, this should have been obvious, but it just never occurred to me until after I looked at the bill. I'd be able to work with that, though, and just select "Call without using Google Voice" or whatever when calling her if it weren't for the second problem. When people call my Google Voice number, I get charged when I don't answer. Usually, it's just a one-minute charge, but sometimes it's two or three minutes (don't know why). With anything less than an unlimited plan, minutes count. Not good.
Basically, i use my personal cell phone for work and personal use, i have multiple exchange accts that keep things sorted and seperated.
recently though i have been getting more and more business calls to my cell phone, during and outside of normal business hours.
what im looking for is an app that will take a selective group of contacts/phone numbers/CID strings and if it is a "business" call then forward it to a specific phone number (external number, the actual business line).
I have seen apps on the market and around that will forward calls to voicemail if they match certain filters, but i cant really seem to find an app that will forward to an external number. Any way I could accomplish this?
I have my HTC Desire and the Facebook application is the worst thing it should happen. It sync all my friends phone numbers and mixes with all my other phone numbers. Can some one in clear state of mind ask Android/Facebook to give us the option to select what friends we want in our phone list? I like the Facebook app but deleted it once it messes my phone!

Now by default my application reads gmail contacts. On selecting any contact from the displayed list, it throws an exception as the list is displaying a gmail contact which just has email and no phone no. I need phone no to use in my application.

The Gmail address book on the Web contains a field for birthdays, so why not the Android address book? While I'm sure the app could undergo a lot of changes (and everyone would have different ideas) something as basic as a birthday seems obvious.

I want to be able to selectively pick the numbers I never want to dial as I have run a huge bill by mistake. I don't want to put international barring, as I won't be able to text abroad. I thought there was a way, maybe I had to add something to my computer where I could type highlight the name, address and phone number, right click up a menu and have it all added to my phone book.
I have just received an update with the latest firmware for the Mini Pro. My RoadSync still does not sync my Outlook contacts to the phone. Mail and Calendar works just fine but when I try to reach my contacts I am just presented with the blue menu, asking me to add users manually or to sync with Google etc. There are no more settings to set in the RoadSync application more than to checkmark the contacts - then they should "automatically" show up in the Android contact list, which does not happen. This is really a very big issue, making the phone almost unusable.
