Android :: Widget Background - Calendar Blue To Green

Nov 7, 2010

I build my first widget and want to use the standard Android 9-Patch drawable:calendar_bgtop_blue.9.png

But this drawable is blue and i need the same in green. Can anybody transform this standard 9-Patch drawable to a green color? HTML Color: #99C000

Here is the link to the drawable: https://android.git.kernel.org/?p=platform/packages/providers/CalendarProvider.git;a=blob;f=res/drawable mdpi/appwidget_calendar_bgtop_blue.9.png;h=af0f466c124dab03ae9c1bd2f00ec4d883850b61;hb=HEAD

HTC Incredible : Dead Pixels - Always A Blue-green Color

May 6, 2010

So today I noticed what seems to be a dead pixel (Not really dead, it just stays the same color). I'm not 100% sure if it is,but I notice that it's pretty much always a blue-green color. I tried doing a pixel fix by using one of those videos on youtube, but no luck. I did notice, however, that if i paused the video, the pixel would be filled in on a blue or green picture, but on red it would turn black. Anyone have any suggestions? If not, do you think I should try exchanging it?

Samsung Vibrant :: Blue-Green Hue Of White Makes Browser Difficult

Jul 19, 2010

One of the first things I've noticed about the Samsung (coming from the iphone) is how blue-greenish the background is within the browser. The difference is striking when the iphone is side to side with the Vibrant. It makes the reading mobile pages such as m.cnn.com a whole lot more difficult, relatively speaking.Anyone else notice this? I've also taken notice of this on a friend's Droid, although not as pronounced. Is this common to Android devices? I would think that the Vibrant screen could deliver a bright white with no color imbalances and should surpass the quality on the 3G(S) iphone.

Motorola Droid :: Default Calendar With Green Bar?

Feb 6, 2010

Just wondering if there's a better calender application out there or do most of you use the default one? I find the default a lil weird because of the green 'bars' that fill up corresponding to what time of day it is (not knowing if its a holiday bar or an appointment because its always green). What I am looking for is something that will sync with google calendar and act as a replacement for the default calender - something that will maybe show something for that day w/o clicking on it in monthly view? and maybe a better 'agenda' or something to keep track of my schedules.

Samsung Fascinate :: Calendar Widget - Display Next Entry On Calendar

Sep 11, 2010

I played with the Fascinate today for more than an hour at VZW. I LOVE IT. My only question is related to the calendar. On my D1 I have many more widget choices including the calendar. This widget displays on my home screen and always shows my next appointment whether it is today or in a week. The next calender entry always shows. This is not the case for the Fascinate. It has a nice widget that shows weather, stocks, and at the bottom appointments. It only shows today's appointments. I downloaded a calender widget app that was nice and may work but it would not open so I don't know.

Now the question: Can any of you guys with the fascinate comment on a widget that allows the widget to display the next entry on the calendar. To be clear on my D1, if I have no calendar entries for today, my 10am meeting tomorrow shows up on the widget with a time and date. Can one do this with the Fascinate.

HTC Incredible :: Calendar Widget - See More Than One Appointment Without Opening Up Full Calendar

May 3, 2010

I have a question about the Calendar widget (the HTC one). I want to use the smaller of the widgets since I don't want the calendar to take up a full screen.

Is there any way to see more than one appointment without opening up the full calendar? You would think if you have multiple appointments in a day that you'd be able to flip through them from the widget, but you can't from what I can tell.

Android :: Widget Text Background

Jan 26, 2010

I have an app with a widget but I am having some difficulty with the layout of the widget. The basic idea if the widget should look like an icon and have a little text tag under it like any other icon on the desktop.

I found one example which uses an android:background for the TextView and uses a drawable XML:

CODE:...........

However this does not work brilliantly, the text just isn't the same as the other icons on the desktop and when you rotate the phone part of the text is chopped off!

The next problem is selecting the widget, I use an ImageButton as the icon - with the android:background set to a transparent image. I have been using another drawable xml file which allows me to change the image when the widget is selected. However I would prefer the default action of an icon, where the square around the icon turns orange.

How would I achive these two effect - I know it is possible somehow as the app "sms unread count" achives exactly what I want to happen!

Android :: Android Agenda Widget Vs Pure Calendar Widget

Sep 10, 2010

I've been looking for an agenda tool/widget for my Android phone. I've narrowed it down to these two (PLEASE don't post suggesting other alternatives!! And note that I don't mean the Pure Grid version!). I've been searching for half an hour, but I can not find anything that compares these 2 apps or shows any diffs between them. The best I've seen is comments like " beats hands down", with no explanation as to WHY.As far as I can see, for my purposes (using Google Calendar & Astrid), the only difference between the 2 is the PRICE! Both come in numerous widget sizes, both integrate with Astrid & Google, both are scrollable, both are skinnable. So why choose one over the other? (Or, really, why choose Pure Calendar over Android Agenda, given that the latter is free?) I wish I could just test both out but the Pure widget series has no demos

Android :: Method To Detect Widget Is Visible - Foreground Or Background?

Aug 6, 2009

It would appear on a G1 (with the latest software update) that onUpdate () runs even when the widget is not visible. Is there a way of sensing that the widget is or is not visible or is otherwise in foreground? That is, running the code below shows a logcat message at whatever interval the Widget is scheduled to update, whether it's in foreground or not, whether even the screen is dim or otherwise in deep sleep. It would seem onUpdate should only be scheduled to run when the Widget is in the foreground or visible. Is this a defect in the G1, or is there some other API call to detect if the Widget is visible?

Android :: App / Widget To Disable Background Data? (Not Same As Auto Sync)

May 7, 2010

I have a Motorola Milestone running Android 2.1.Is there a widget which turns "background data" ("Settings -> account & sync -> background data") on/off? I know there are several widgets which turn auto sync on off (e.g. the power control widget) and disable data connections altogether (apndroid, quick settings, etc), but that's not what I need. I searched the market, google and this forum but couldn't find anything. The only workaround I found was to create a shortcut to "account & sync" using "any cut". Not a widget, but close enough. Is there a widget, or a better way to do this?

Android :: Change Background Color Of Widget When Tapped / Scrolled To?

Oct 21, 2009

I made a custom widget (which is just a composite like):

<LinearLayout> <TextView> </LinearLayout>

this widget is focusable and reacts to touches. I'd like it to change its background color to the default system highlight color when the user scrolls to it, and have it blink when the user taps it (just like an element of a ListView does).

I can add an OnFocusChangeListener for when the user scrolls to it, and in the handler do the changing of the background color.

How would I add the 'blinking' behavior though when the user just taps it with a finger? I did something like this as a test code...

this is just a guess. Is there a correct way of implementing this behavior?

Android :: Display Image Inside Droid Widget Background?

Sep 17, 2010

I have a widget layout xml which sets the src to the delivered android widget 4x1 frame image. Here is the widget layout code...

@drawable/widgetinitial holds the widgetinitial.png image example 4x1 at developer.android.com (AppWidget design guidelines).(4x1_Widget_Frame_Portrait.psd) What I am trying to do is display an image inside the delivered frame instead what happens is the frame image goes away and only the image I am trying to display shows up. How can I display the image inside the bounding box or the background?

Another question - I think I saw in a couple of forums AbsoluteLayout is a deprecated feature for Android 2.1 and above. Is that correct? and does using AbsoluteLayout throws any force close or other exceptions?

Sorry for the very naive question but I couldn't get it right although tried for a time.
