I recently downloaded hidenseek, amongst other apps and every time i go to install the app(s), google maps opens up and then tells me it can't open the content, or some similar message. What's all that about then? (the apps haven't installed either).

Just found Google Maps 4.6 on Market. But tried several times and all failed on installation with just the notification "Installation unsuccessful". Download seems completed and the message was prompted a while after installation started. I'm using VR12.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI went to the Market today and noticed Google Maps was automatically updating (I'm using Froyo 2.2 on the Moto Droid). After it downloaded, it said Installing... then it said "Installation of Google Maps unsuccessful". When I go to the app in the market itself, it says "A manual update is required." However, when browsing the "Downloads" section, there is no "Update available" next to Google Maps. all it says is "free" as if its not even installing when it is indeed installed. Anyone know how to fix this issue?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've rooted my HTC Desire with Unprovoked, running Clockworkmod Recovery ROM and AuraxTSense on top.
I've noted that I cannot install the latest versions of Gmail and Google Maps from the Market.
After the whole download gets over, it gives me a message "Installation unsuccessful"
Edit: I've tried downloading the .apk. But installation of even that fails.
Has it anything to do with my custom ROM or with rooting? Can anybody suggest a workaround?
i just registered here to find out if opening a KML file on my SD card with Google maps in offline mode can work. I am looking for an solution quite a time, but only found this thread on stackover.

Any way to open local KML files with google maps in offline mode ? I want to open kml ONLY in google maps, i know there are several apps out there that support kml files....
I want to modify some xml files in the google maps app (com.google.android.apps.maps-2.apk)
I copied the original apk from my phone, used apkmultitool to decompile it, chanched the files an recompiled it (using option 11: system apk) after recompiling, the file size ist about 1Mb different to the original.
When i now place it on the sd card and try to install, i get message that it wasn't installed.
Do i have to deinstall the "old" app?
Do i make sth wrong?

View 9 Replies View RelatedAs advised by the experts, I did a factory reset when my phone went wacky on me. I didn't actually have Froyo installed when this happened, but as soon as I did the reset, I received a system prompt concerning the available upgrade and took it. My phone works better now, but but battery performance is about the same.
I have also been advised that battery performance (as in better than ever), among other things works best with a clean install, not the upgrade. Since I did a factory reset before taking the upgrade, I wonder if this is equivalent to a clean install, or if the clean install would still be worth my effort. If it's the latter, there is only one resource for clean install files which I have been referred to, which cannot help me because I don't have an XP machine available (I did try it on Windows 7). If a clean install is, in any case, the best option, are there any Win7 installation files available for Froyo?
I just recently got an optimus G e970. I downloaded CM10.2.zip and gapps.zip for the rom.I used "adb push CM10.2.zip /sdcard/" to move the files files to my sdcard and i sucessfully installed cyanagenmod BUT i can't delete the .zip files left behind.
When i go to recovery mode, i see the files in my sdcard but there are not options to remove it. I connected the phone to my PC and i can't see CM10.2.zip and gapps.zip file in my sdcard. I tried installign root explorer and esfile explorer and enabled hidden files but i can't find this file in my sdcard (internal storage) or sdcard1 (physical sdcard). However, i can still see them in recovery mode, BUT again there is not option to remove the .zip files in recovery mode.!
Is Google Latitude available in the UK or not, because it doesn't seem to be working for me? I have received the RC9 update for G1 and have Google Maps 3.0. Is there an a Google Latitude application that I should have or do I access everything through Google Maps? When I go the www.google.com/latitude on my G1, it offers me the option of "launching" Latitude but it just takes me to Google Maps. From there, I cannot see the locations of my Google "friends" (who have agreed to show location), neither does my own location show up on the Latitude homepage on the web (I have settings turned to "detect my location automatically").

View 6 Replies View RelatedNo matter what I do I am unable to open a file, either in my app's data directory or on the sdcard and also in a folder on the sdcard. To test I placed a test.txt file in all three directories.When I do listfiles, I get the correct list of files set in an array. I've even tried getting the list and filtering out a specific file and try opening it that way and just trying the first item in the array. Is there some security that may be set that is making it so I cant open files? This is not the emulator, it is on a device.

I'm using the latest version of Google Maps on JB 4.2.2 [Nexus 4]..I noticed that I cannot edit the names of my locations in "My Places" in the phone app. So I used Google Bookmarks (google.com/bookmarks) from my PC to edit/rename My Places. However, the names do not sync or carry through to the Google Maps app on the phone. The names in the app are still the generic names, coordinates or street names.
Is there any way to change the names of My Places and get them to sync with the phone app? Really baffling!

I would like to write an application that has a built in .pdf file. Once the application is run it must open up the "Choose default application" menu and the user must be able to choose which application they would like to open the pdf file with.
So basically it must export the .pdf to an external (default) pdf reader. If the mobile doesn't have a default pdf reader then it must send the user to the download page of adobe reader.
I want to format my phone, it's kinda full and going very slow. Here comes the question: Is it a good way to back up my android phone by connecting it to my laptop and copy all the files and maps in to my D: drive. I don't mind if it doesn't my text messages and contacts.
I am using a rooted Samsung Galaxy S plus (i9001).
