View 2 RepliesI'm having a small issue with Facebook on Android. However, I think it's an issue with Android itself, not the app. When I get an email from Facebook, and I click the link, my browser opens and takes to the Facebook page and asks me to log in. Why doesn't it open the link using my Facebook app? It doesn't even ask me which app to use, browser or Facebook (eg. if I have two different gallery apps, and I want to view a picture, it asks me which gallery app to use, and lets me set one as default at the same time). Is there any way to make Facebook links open the Facebook app, instead of launching the browser (or to have it ask me like it does with other apps)? The whole point of the Facebook app is so I don't need to use the browser to view Facebook.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'd like to snap a photo on the Eris and upload to Facebook with a comment. It seems the built-in app that came with the Eris doesn't allow comments to be posted. I tried Bloo, which does allow comments, but the photos don't appear in Facebook until I go to my page and approve the photos. Am I missing a way to comment with the built-in app, or a way to have the photos appear without special approval with Bloo? Or is there a better app for this.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI'd like to be able prompt my app to open link (instead of the browser) when the user clicks on a URL of a given pattern. This could be when the user is on a web page in the browser, or in an email client, or a WebView in a freshly minted app.
For example, click on a YouTube link from anywhere in the phone and you'll be given the chance to open the YouTube app.
How do I achieve this for my own app.
Since shortcuts for web pages made on PC cannot be used to launch the browser on Android and open those web page links, is there an app which would allow you to browse files on your Android and then directly open url web page link shortcuts?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to find a way to open links in new tabs. If I want to open several links, they all open in the one window so I'm only left with the last link I clicked on.
I've also tried long pressing the links to select 'open in new tab' but this option doesn't come up. When I long press links all I can do is select text.
Ideally I'd like to set a default to always open links in new tabs, but I would settle for a work around (like long press) if that actually worked.
This always worked on my old phone, but it seems like they've removed this functionality.
YouTube links will always open in browser rather than youtube app.
I have tried Boat Browser and Dolphin, and they both behave the same way. If I google search for a youtube video through one of those browsers, and I click the youtube link from the google results... it will go to the youtube mobile page within the browser (rather than open the youtube app and play the video).
How to force the youtube app to always play videos linked from browsers?
I get a google calendar invitation in the GMail app, but when I click on one of the yes/no/maybe links, it opens in the browser, not in my calendar app.
I immediately tried to clear defaults, but none existed on gmail, browser, chrome or calendar app. I tried disabling browser/chrome/ and bionic default calendar, and installed Google Calendar from play store....problem still happened.
(edit, of course browser/chrome didn't open when they were disabled, but I was surprised that Google Calendar also did not open). I'm rooted, but running regualar moto ics
I'm at a loss. I know a number of google updated a number of apps lately, wondering if that broke something.
I use Handcent SMS on my HTC Hero. I have also recently updated to Android 2.1. Recently I have received a couple of service SMS messages from different companies (bank mini-statements, adverts, etc.) which in itself is okay, but Handcent has been linking them to one of my Facebook contacts!
It only happens when I get a SMS from a non-regular phone number or a short number. Its always the same Facebook contact, but I don't have this person as a regular contact in my phone or Google contacts and their phone number is not on their FB profile!
I checked the stock messaging app to make sure it wasn't anything else and that was fine, so it's definitely a Handcent thing.
I'm using HTC desire, I'm sorry if I haven't searched the forum enough.I'm wondering if there is ever a way to post a link in Facebook like how you do it on the full web site- when you click on "What's on your mind" a drop down of several icon appears and when you choose the "link" icon you can paste the URL there. The problem is that without that interface the URL messes up with the actual message you wanted to post (most of the time to explain the link you are posting).
View 3 Replies View RelatedFor several of my contacts, viewing their contact page will show multiple links to their facebook account.
For example, I lookup John Doe and it'll show:
[PIC] John Doe
Call Mobile
Email Home
Facebook Profile
Facebook Profile
Facebook Profile
Facebook Profile
Facebook Profile
Clicking on any of the Facebook profile buttons takes you to the same facebook page. Anyone else seeing this issue? I have one Gmail account and one Facebook account on this phone and that's all I've ever had...
I have been trying to send the message below since yesterday and I have tried posting it two times. I am not able to see it getting posted to the group. Can you please let me know why?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've read many postings about problems getting the Android emulator DNS to work properly in certain situations. I have a simple app that makes an HTTP connection to a server on the Internet. If I use an IP address using the latest version of the emulator it works fine. If I use the domain name it throws a java.net.UnknownHostException: Host is unresolved: exception. The identical code works fine on any actual device. Has anyone figured out how to fix this situation? I've spent days trying everything, from using proxy servers to setting up and running a DNS server on my development machine. This situation/experience is a shame, because the emulator seems like such an impressive and well thought out collection of tools for developing and testing apps. However, it is currently useless to me. Is there anyone who can help? A prior thread on the same issue-appears to be the same situation: http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_thread/threa...
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn an existing Android project I've encountered the following piece of code (where I inserted the debugging litter) code...
with not a trace of the messages from the Runnable. So appearantly the Runnable doesn't run(), although img.post() returns true. Pulling the ImageView in onCreate() and declaring it final doesn't help.
I'm clueless. Simply setting the bitmap directly, while blocking the UI thread, does fix things, but I want to get things right. Does anybody understand what's going on here?
(ps. this was all observed on an Android 1.6 phone and android-3 sdk)
I can not find the post I posted yesterday?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWho else is getting the error " [Malformed JSON] when trying to open the news feed in the Facebook app? Mine has been working on and off the past couple days, yet my girlfriends droid has been fine. I dont think its an isolated incident, because if you look at the comments other people are getting this error. I have tried logging out and back in, unstalling and reinstalling, rebooting phone, etc.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've started to write an app which provides the user with an HTML form via a WebView. As the form is not under my control, the data filled in may be sent as either GET or POST request. My app is required to capture the transported form data, that is, get a hold on what was entered into the form fields. Using an adequate callback from WebViewClient such as onPageLoaded(), it is easy to capture form data from a GET request. However, I cannot find any appropriate method to allow the same for POSTed data, i.e., be able to access the HTTP POST message body containing the form data. Am I missing a relevant callback here or is there simply no way to accomplish the specified goal with the given API (even the latest level 8)?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo, somehow I accidentally installed the Facebook app in the Android market, which overwrote my Facebook HTC app that came built in. Did I screw anything up? AppBrain told me to upgrade it (HTC version), and upgraded to market version. Is there a difference? Should I care? Is there a way to undo what I have done? Seems like AppBrain has a bug in there, so be warned! Or it is just me being clueless, I suppose.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have installed Dolphin and like it, and I've made it my default browser, which is great. However, it is not only the system default, but it even opens links I click on in the Android provided browser (sometimes I both open). On your computer, when you click links in your non-default browser it doesn't send the links to the default one, and it shouldn't on this OS, either. Any ideas how to keep Dolphin as my system default browser, but not have it open links I click on in the Android web browser?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWell, I seem to either A) have a problem or B) it's a problem just in general.I have Facebook installed, and there's obviously Facebook for HTC Sense. I want to sync my Facebook account and only that. I don't personally care to use the Sense inspired widgets because I like my streams separate.Anyway, I go into the Accounts menu in settings and removed the Facebook for Sense account and tried to add a new account, but whenever I click Facebook, it does absolutely nothing.I don't understand what's going on. If anyone has any clue, I'd love to hear it!
