Jun 2, 2010I just spoke to a rep and was told that for four people, the price was: $140 for first two lines (includes $10 EVO premium)$40 for two other lines.Wth tax, this is almost $200 and not counting any insurance you might want to add. The reps stated if you buy the EVO and more than one line, you must get the 1500 minute plan. My family of four rarely breaches 600 minutes of our 700 minute plan (my family are mainly text maniacs).Since I would be forced into a 1500 minute plan and pay the $10 premium, the Sprint plan would be about $40 more than VZW. If you use the minutes, it would be fine, but not only are you forced into $10 more, you also are forced into the 1500 minute plan- even if you do not need it.Is this what others are being told? I was going to get the EVO to test it out, but may just wait for all the testers here to report back, through the next few weeks.

May 21, 2010I'm really interested in buying a Desire although, unlike some, I intend to buy the phone outright with no contract as I already have a contract I am happy with.However, despite people saying this phone is cheaper than the iPhone, average prices are about 400 which is about the same price you can pick up a 16gb 3Gs. So, am I missing something? Whilst here, am I correct in thinking HTC offer a 2 year Warranty? For 400 I would like at least some safety in case it breaks through no fault of my own.

They have a Global Data Package that 64.99 unlimited data, so I'm putting that on for the 10 days I'm there. I just got my Dinc last week and I'm a total noob when it comes to it. Is there an app or way to use wifi to place calls cheaper? I've tried searching these forums but I can't find anything.

Jan 7, 2010I'm currently thinking about buying a Hero because it looks awesome I was thinking about it the other day and have come up with a much cheaper solution to buy it and thought I would share it with you guys As I am currently on 3 I will use this as my example however it will work with any network.For 35 a month you get unlimited texts, internet and 3 to 3 calls. You also get 750 minutes. Not the worst deal in the world except you stuck with it for 24 months.At the end of the 2 years you will have cashed out 840.OR For 356.43 you can buy a SIM free Hero on amazon UK. Then a SIM only deal for 15 gets you Unlimited Texts, Internet, 3 to 3 calls, voicemail and Windows Live Messenger. The downside is only 300 minutes but that would suit me fine. And on the plus side you arent tied into a contract and can 'upgrade' whenever you like.With this method you dont need to use it for 24 months but, just to compare, this comes to 716.What do you think?

Jul 21, 2010I'm new to Android. I recently was an iPhone fan but thought that Android was a better alternative to iPhone. So anyway, I have a few questions about the Captivate. Does Android have support for apps that you can use to password protect certain apps on the phone? Like messages, and photos for more private stuff. Another question I have: is the Captivates reception really bad? I currently have the iPhone 4 while it doesn't have the best of signal, its not too bad either. And my last question is if the captivate has support for 32gb cards. I'm sorry if someones already gone over these but I could find anything right away. Anyways, I look forward to Android and the Captivate.

Dec 15, 2009Do not get me wrong - I love the Android, especially the vast amount of apps to choose from. But has anyone noticed how much more vibrant and polished the Palm Pre apps are as opposed to Android apps? Take the weather apps for example (Weather Bug or Weather Channel). They are so much brighter and complex on the Pre. I know the Pre apps are far less in number, but the ones that are there seem much more polished. Am I crazy, or does anyone else notice this?

Nov 16, 2009I know the "cool kid in school" thing to do is make fun of the iPhone market for having 1,000's of 'Fart apps'
But let's be honest at the end of the day it's really not true, and now coming from being a previous iPhone owner and now a Droid owner i can honestly say, the iPhone app market wins by a TON.
This is just a general QUALITY of apps comparison as well.
NO i'm not switching back... but man do i miss the iPhone apps...
Especially facebook.. and others..
You can REALLY tell the difference between the quality of iPhone apps vs Android,
So why am i starting this thread?.. Well i'm hoping maybe a developer could chime in and enlighten us on why this is...
Things i'm curious about-
Is programming in android worse then in the iPhone OS? is that why apps are WAY less in quality?
And you can't give the excuse that it's because things are new, when the iPhone market came out the apps were quality at day 1, many of them were.
So what's the difference? i guess software...
Well i'm sticking with android even though this exists.. in hopes that maybe future Android OS updates and SDK's will improve this very obvious difference.. right now i'm not impressed at all... the apps are all Slow, and they look horrible.
And for twitter? holy crap... iPhone owners back me up here, but the iPhone twitter apps are lightyears ahead of android twitter apps.
Just take a look at Tweetdeck for iPhone, and compare to to what i guess is the best android twitter app, twidroid?
Compare those and you'll see what i'm talking about.

HTC Desire : Carrier-Installed Apps - Find The System/apps Folder
Sep 23, 2010I have recently purchased an unlocked HTC Desire. As you may or may not know, here in Australia the only carrier of the Desire is Telstra. However I use 3 mobile so that's the reason I purchased an unlocked device.
My problem is that my phone has about a dozen or more apps which are installed by Telstra and uninstallable. Most of them are 100% useless because I'm not even on their network and I'd like them out of my applications list.
I've had a read around and I saw something about being able to remove them by deleting the file and then uninstalling them using a command prompt program.
Would anyone please be able to give me detailed instructions on how to do this because I'm not sure how to find the system/apps folder and I'm also not sure on how to get the command prompt thing to work.

May 18, 2010Hope you guys can help. Since the 2.1 update I have certain apps which appear to be opening in the background when I didn't open them. I have Advanced Task Killer, and when I go in for example it shows Messages running, when I kill it, it will reappear in 30 secs or so, the same with MP3 store. Can these apps be stopped so they don't take up memory or what's the deal here. Thanks for any help.

May 6, 2014I use rooted 4.3 Samsung S4. Some apps like MX player can play video when the screen is off. I want to play games of other video apps when the screen is off. For example:
1. I use Android to watch some CNN and bloomberg TV (not radio) that I want to play in the background with the screen off
