How can i made an activity with a window "not full screen" ?
Goal is to have a windows like this one : http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/ui/notifiers/toasts.html ("Creating a Custom Toast View" section), but i don't want to make a toast, because toast's life time is too short for what i want to do.
I wish to go from my home screen in my app to a second screen. where i can develop som kind off settings menu. i can't find any kind off guide to it. and the help cos i find normaly don't work.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have had DC 2.08.1 installed for about 2 weeks with no issues. I decided to go ahead and partition the SD to utilized apps2SD as I was having memory issues. That process, while not smooth, went through okay and the SD card is working with the partition and apps2SD. However, ever since that was completed, my Windows 7 box no longer recognizes the phone either as a phone or as a drive. My Linux laptop recognizes the drive without issue.
Any suggestions on how I can reintroduce my phone to the Windows box, at least as a drive?
I am very interesting in Android.It very new to me,so I want to know about it.

I have built my application against API1.6 and set <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="4" android:targetSdkVersion="4" /> Everything was fine until I wanted to run the app on Android 2.0. Not only is People deprecated it actually doesn't even work! So, I have changed the API I'm compiling against API2.0 and do the OS version check in my code and use People provider or ContactsContract accordingly. I still keep <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="4" android:targetSdkVersion="4" /> so I can target 1.6 devices. Now when I want to debug in Eclipse it insists on running it on 2.0 emulator. How can I tell Eclipse that I really want to debug on 1.6 emulator? I have installed my APK on 1.6 emulator via the browser. It installed fine, but when I want to use People provider it crashes. I need to be able to debug it.

I'm aware of some of the existing tools for developing Java and XML in Emacs. I've also seen the EmacsWiki page recommending two Emacs packages, EmDroid and android-mode I'd like to hear what people recommend, in terms of Emacs packages, small functions, or just workflows. As a side note, I have decent familiarity with Eclipse, and I did setup the ADT plugin. However, emacs is my primary editor, and I'd like to see how I can use it here.

What would you suggest to speed up the development of an app w/o usinf the emulator?
I thought that JUnit for the logical parts would help.
Basically, I want to be able to test the app within Eclipse as much as I can before testing on the emulator.
For instance, if one needs to write a service that does not have much UI how to approach that problem?
