Oct 12, 2010Sometimes, well actually a lot of the time, when I flash a new ROM after wiping down the entire phone I find that after signing into Google in the beginning stages of the activation that suddenly apps begin appearing.
I've found that if I skip the Google integration setup until after the initial process is completed the apps don't auto restore.
But where can I find this cache that google is pulling this stuff from and completely delete this?

Mar 25, 2013Just was wondering, after updating a rom, or titanium backup restore of all your apps. Seems that they dont get set in the play store to "auto update", so usually I have to wind up doing it 1 by 1. Was there a way to mass set the auto update on all my apps? Cause the Play Store Settings, while set to auto update for new apps. Only will be applied on apps installed from play store, not from a restore from backup.

Jan 15, 2012where my phone wont scroll accuratly. Ill go back to try to fix an issue say 3 lines up from where I am and it wont scroll to the correct place I tried to place it. also if you get the cursor where you want it to fix a mistake getting it to go back where you were typing before trying to fix the mistake is a headache. Itll recenter the screen once yoy try to click back to where you were typing so you cannot see where or what your typing. I currently havr the nexus s but my evo4g did it to. The nexus is worse though. Sometimes its fine but uaually it isnt.

Nov 3, 2009I have seen this link on other websites and a few people have been claiming a few things listed on it. I just want to get facts straight and correct the preliminary specifications.
For the Moment, it says it has a 360x640 resolution which is wrong. Everything I have read, including Samsung's website shows 320x480.
It says it has an FM radio and I have seen nothing or the sort anywhere. That would be nice if it did, but can't find anything to confirm this.
It says it has a Stereo loudspeaker. I can't find any specifications for this. Can anyone confirm or reject this claim?

Aug 31, 2010If I make a spelling error when typing a text but dont notice it until the text is finished it can be quite difficult to correct. Its a case of trying to insert the cursor by the error and then backspacing. This can be quite tricky. Or is there another way to do it? On my laptop there are directional arrows which allow me to take the cursor back through the text without deleting letters on the way. Is there an equivalent on the phone keypad?

Oct 1, 2010Is there a fix for getting pictures to load faster? right now they load right up blurry and then take 5 seconds to correct. it does this in the gallery as well as on the internet. except the ones on the internet take much longer to correct, like 30 seconds or more. I.E. facebook pictures is where i notice it the most. i'd rather them load faster and not be 100.9999% perfect....

Nov 18, 2010Anyone else had abny issues with the back up restore function? I tried to do a software update, to which something seems to have happened. All i can see for the time being is an update to the virtual keyboard. Anyway, lost apps, contacts etc, so went into the menu on the handset and selected back up, restore. Restored numbers etc to phone book and over 150 number details are missing. The back up utility doesn't seem to have backed up all my numbers. Also, any personal photo's of callers etc have either vanished or the photo's are now against the wrong people. So much for this back up service, it's going to take hours, if not days to try to get the phone back tot he way it was!

Aug 9, 2010Today the rom bug bit me and I tried about 3 or 4 different roms (after TIbackup and nand backup of course) including xtrROM and ELB, hated them all, and decided to go back to my beloved sense-able 3.1 nand backup.
wiped, restored, and now all my market links are gone. (except for gmaps, for some reason). TIbackup refuses to even install again from the market because the package signature is incorrect, or something. TIb said it was supposed to restore market links.any suggestions? is there even any way to restore a market link besides just reinstalling the program outright? I found this thread http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-hero/81290-market-does-not-see-all-my-downloads-after-nandroid-restore.html as reference. All my programs will show as "installed" if I search them in market.either way, sense-able was definitely the sexiest-out of the box ROM I tried. everything else without sense was just ugh, looked like I'd loaded up a G1. couldn't tell a speed difference at all with the same setCPU profile, and xtrROM was so bad on battery I only made it through few hours before uninstalling. I cannot live with the sense keyboard and search-dialer.
Motorola Droid :: Backup / Restore / Get My Files Restore?
Mar 7, 2010I Installed Smoked Glass V5.0 from V4.5. I ended up doing it twice, and to make a long story short I lost my files in AK Notebook.
Here's my question:
1. Should I backup my current configuration
2. Then "Restore" my backup prior to upgrade
3. Grab my files (hoping they will be there) toss them on my mac
4. Then just "Restore" back to where I am now?
Need those files by tomorrow, any assistance is much appreciated. It's not that it's an emergency without them, but I will have to do some legwork to gather that info again.
Android :: Alarm Clock App That Auto Cuts-off Play After X Seconds - Auto Snooze After X
Jul 20, 2010I'm looking for an alarm clock app with one very specific feature - allow me to set the alarm tone to automatically stop after X seconds, then start again at the next snooze interval, and play for another X seconds.
Sure it seems every alarm app out there allows me to set Snooze intervals and stuff, but with my waking up habit, I don't like to physically have to touch the phone to get it to shut up until the next snooze interval. I like to lay in bed and let the alarm go for like 3-4 snooze intervals before I finally wake up.
I've tried Alarm Clock PlusV2, Alarm Clock Xtreme, Quick Alarm. None of them seem to have this.
Android :: Task Panel Auto Kill Feature Not Auto-Killing?
Dec 7, 2009I installed it on my Droid and when I open the list and long press on an app it gives me the option to Auto-Kill. I assume this means I won't have to kill this app any longer so I select this option but I find that I keep having to kill the same apps over and over again. What's the point of Auto-Kill or what am I doing wrong? There are lots of programs (most I didn't even install) that run all the time and I'm having battery issues so I don't have battery to waste on programs I'm not using and will probably never use.

Apr 4, 2010Is there a way to tell Android to do the following when setting the background image for a TextView?
1. Scale the image so that it's just large enough to fill the the entire viewing area without any black borders, while still maintaining its aspect ratio. This might require clipping once the image is actually displayed, but that's OK (read on).
2. Then, center the image in the viewing area, both horizontally and vertically.
3. Finally, clip the image to the size of the viewing area, without any further rescaling.
I'm guessing that this kind of image processing is not automatically done via any of Android's facilities, and that I'll have to do it myself. If this is a correct assumption, could someone point me to some documentation or some examples which could explain how I can accomplish this? I'm guessing that I'll have to subclass my TextView and implement my own onDraw() method, but could someone confirm or deny that assumption?
2.1 Update :: I Can't Restore My Data Via Backup & Restore
Nov 8, 2010I recently updated my Mini Pro to Android 2.1, I followed the steps on the sonyericssonsupport YouTube video. I did a Backup of all my stuff on the phone, when I'd updated my phone and turned it on it asked me to setup the phone again with the Language, Time & Date etc and now when I try to restore my settings it says "Could Not Restore" when it is almost done.

Dec 9, 2009Are these the same? I have searched the forum, and can't seem to find the answer. I don't find any "auto brightness" setting in the settings menu on the Hero. I have auto backlight unchecked. What exactly does this do? Is this the screen dimming? Sorry, I am confused. Uh oh! Must be a senior moment!
While I am showing off photos I have on my phone, the screen dims...how do I keep this from happening?
Also, relating to photos..when I go to "Albums", I have 4 folders listed...Camera Shots, All Photos, etc. When I take a pictures with the phone camera, they seems to be in both folders. Why?

Sep 26, 2010So one of the cool things about Froyo is being able to check off Enable Automatic Update for market apps. So i have that checked off for like 80+% of my 80+ apps (that took a while to do let me tell you). Now i have had three apps have updates available since i checked off the box, yet they never actually automatically updated. I waited, hours, still never updated. Is there a setting i need to modify? Do i need to tell it what time of day to do it? Anyone else noticing this? I only really want it in apps that i don't care about reading the new features. But it is annoying that i have it enabled and it does nothing.

Nov 29, 2010I'm doing something wrong or newb here. I've tried both Astro and MyBackup Pro, and both of them require me to manually one-by-one "Install" and approve the install of each application. I had to tap "Install" then "Done" probably 100 times! WTF? Astro didn't seem to get ALL the applications either. It showed them all listed and I could check them, but they weren't part of the backup directory?! MyBackup Pro got them all it seems. Furthermore neither of them installed the applications BACK to the SD card from whence they came originally! I have to use another application to move them all again.This is incredibly tedious and obnoxious. My PalmOS just backed up everything as part of the HotSync and a restore was equally as simple. It backed up ALL the .prc and .pdb files. Isn't there a way to set a config/setting somewhere that says, "never prompt me for permissions"? My Palm never prompted me for permissions like this. It reminds me of the Windows Vista UAC debacle.Furthermore it restored the APPLICATIONS ONLY -- where the flying F is all my DATA?!?! aCar doesn't have my vehicle info in it. EiWeight doesn't have the months of pounds/body fat I've been tracking. What do I have to do to get the data/settings back for ALL my applications?Also, on a MyBackup Pro note -- it's stupid that it doesn't show you how far along in the asinine "Install"/"Done" process you are. Do I have 100 apps to go or 2 apps to go? I don't know. I'm just stuck hitting virtual buttons until the end.

Aug 24, 2010I need to save some state when the user leaves my game during game play. Saving the state doesn't seem to be an issue, but I can't figure out how to restore it. The onCreate function isn't called when the Activity is resumed (only when it is first created), so I can't get my state back there. Logically, I would use onRestoreInstanceState, but it isn't being called.

I see log output from onSaveInstanceState, onResume, onCreate, etc, but I never see a log message from onRestoreInstanceState and savedState is always null. Why isn't onRestoreInstanceState being called, and is there another way to get my state back?
Android :: My Backup Pro Restore Error
Sep 11, 2010Because of the widespread problem of the Motorola Driod randomly deleting text messages I went and bought MyBackup Pro I have used it once before to restore my pictures. Today my phone deicded to delete all 5000 of my text messages. I immediatly went to my app and hit restore. Upon reaching about 500 restored text messages the app flashes a done pop-up and gives me this message; "Restore SMS failed: Couldn't init cursor window." I have no idea what this means. I've tried several times and with different days backups with no luck. I'm able to restore all of my other files from thye backup, call log, pictures, MMS ect but not the other 4500 text messages.
