I work in aviation and sometimes need to travel for it. It is important for me to know Greenwich Mean Time, (also referred to as Zulu time). Ideally I would like to have the local time and GMT displayed on my phone. Its easy to add 5 hours or whatever when I'm at home to figure it out, but it gets confusing when I travel.

My home screen restarts by itself all the time. Very annoying, when I unlock the phone and have to wait about 20-30 seconds for the icons and widgets to load. I get the white screen with the text "HTC." Then the background loads, then the icons/widgets. Until it's all loaded, I can't move or control anything.
It's happened since the beginning. I just installed "WidgetLocker" yesterday, and now it happens about every hour. I'm wondering if Sense is somehow going to sleep, and then restarting when I wake it up. Some notable applications that may be causing problem:
Locale
Quickdesk
WidgetLocker
I purchased a universal car dock form my moto droid and it fits well. I had to because the car dock from Motorola would not fit with the phone case on it. I usually have the map view while driving, but the screen turns-off. Is there a way or app to not turn-off the screen while using the car-home app.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have always been a little uncomfortable with the HTC widget on the home screen that took a large 2x4 block (2 rows x 4 columns) out of the home screen to display the time and weather.. especially because I wanted a few more apps to be displayed on my home screen that I regularly use..
So I removed the HTC clock widget that displayed the large 4x4 clock and weather and instead dropped the HTC clock widget that is 1x2 (5 of the 12 choices available in that widget).. and the HTC weather widget right next to it (or even below it).. which is also a 1x2 size..(choice 3 of 3 in that widget)..
so I basically get the same information with regards to time and weather..and I also end up saving 1 row, which can be filled with 4 additional apps.
Another tip: Instead of using the HTC favorites widget to peg your favorite people to call a touch away.. use the shortcut/add person to peg them on screen. The favorite widget takes a lot more space especially when you don't fill it up.
at the moment I am thinking about a new app and need some information to decide whether to develop on Android or an alternative OS. I am particularly interested in "time to first screen", "boot-up time", "time to first Audio" and "app-start" (can be any from the android market or even one of the pre-installed ones) time? Does anyone know a source or perhaps measured those numbers?

I am designing a home screen widget. I ran this widget on a HTC Hero device, which has a screen of 320 pixels * 480 pixels with mdpi. It ran perfect on HTC Hero. The widget takes 3 cells * 2 cells space, i.e. 240 pixels * 200 pixels.Then I ran this widget on a Nexus One device, which has a screen of 480 pixels * 800 pixels, mdpi. Since Nexus One also is mdpi, so I though 240dip is equivalent to 240 pixels on Nexus One and 200dip is equivalent to 200 pixels on Nexus One, so the widget will not take 3 cells * 2 cells space on Nexus One device. To my surprise, when running on Nexus One device, the widget take exact 3 cells * 2 cells, about 360 pixels * 300 pixels, on Nexus One device.I am confused. The layout xml above specifies 240dip in width and 200dip in height for the widget, but why did it take 360 pixels * 300 pixels on Nexus One Device? What am I missing?

Seven is really pointless for me, it makes finding the right screen take a little longer and there's just not enough good quality widgets that I need to use. I could do better with 5 and possibly just 3.Second is that when I'm not on a homescreen and I hit the home button, I'd like it to go back to the LAST homescreen I was on, not the center one. And if I'm already on a homescreen, once again pull up the homescreen select menu, instead of going to the center homescreen. It's a waste of a button press to always go to that center screen when pressing the home button.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a strange problem after using cm10 for a few weeks. suddenly my home and volume buttons aren't working most of the time. When I want to decrearse/increase volume and press the volume button (no matter if i press it fast again and again or if i wait a few second between pressing) it only goes one step louder every 5 seconds. Also when I want to lower volume. i also cant use cwm recovery cause my home button only works maybe once per hour. Now I have twrp touch recovery.
What i tried:
- wiped everything several times
- flashed gb and ics stock firmwares
- flashed different kernels
Is there any way to change when these 3 things happen separately? Can I make it so my screen fades earlier but still takes just as long to go completely black? Is there a way to extend the time between total blackout and locking? Is there a way to turn off auto screen lock all together but keep the auto fade out and auto black out? I am always able to remember to manually lock the screen and the auto lock is annoying but I still like the power saving of the screen fade and black out.

This only happens when running certain apps, specifically Facebook and jetflicks (and some others that I can't name off the top of my head) but when I press the home button it goes to the last screen of my home setup. I run stock froyo and sense, and I keep up with as many updates as possible. Is there a patch for this that anyone knows of?

Now i've searched for this problem and usually the best solution to this is to delete any task managers installed, which I cannot because the task manager is embedded into Home++, so I'm thinking the only way to get rid of the task manager is to delete the whole Home++, correct? I'm using ADW launcher at the moment.
I have now been using the samsung galaxy for a week now and there is only one factor that is letting down the phone for me and thats the lagging. I have no complaints about the camera even though its without the flash, the internet speed is top notch and the innovative swype makes life so much easier. However what irritates me is the time it takes to access an app or returning to the home page. It must take 30 seconds or more before the screen is loaded which is annoying when you want to do something in a hurry. This also occurs when someone is ringing me and I'm trying to answer, the phone freezes for 10 seconds. I,ve only downloaded around 10 apps so surely that cannot be the problem. I've got a week left before I have to come to a decision whether or not to keep the phone or return it back to vodafone and would like some advice or reassurance about this problem. Also out of interest I would like to know if anyone has encountered the same problem on the iphone 4. The one area in which the galaxy beats the iphone 4 is the price considering what you get with both however it may be worth it to use a phone that dosent lag.
