I'm trying to receive data from a multicast address, but the call to MulticastSocket.receive() blocks until a timeout takes place.I did some network sniffing and found out that my device (and the emulator) never send a MulticastSocket.joinGroup request.I tried running the same Java code from my PC as a standalone application and it worked well. Could it be that the Android platform blocks IGMP join requests?Has anyone succeeded with Multicast on Android before? My manifest file contains the following permission:I am running my application on 2.1 (Both emulator & device).Any ideas anyone?

I'm not able to receive MMS anymore. I've check my APN lot of times and it doesn't seem to be the issue. I looked at the log file (logcat - b radio), but I'm not really able to understand the result. If anyone could have a clue about where is my issue in looking at the log, then I'll be very glad. FYI my APN are: (for wap) APN: wapsfr Proxy: 195.115.25.129 port: 8080 MCC: 208 MNC: 10 Protocole: Wap 2.0 APN Type : default MMS: APN : mmssfr MMSC : http://mms1 Proxy MMS : 10.151.0.1 Port MMS : 8080 MCC : 208 MNC : 10 Protocole: Wap 2.0 APN Type : mms. Here's the log when I try to download a MMS: D/RILJ ( 126): [0463]> OPERATOR D/RILJ ( 126): [0464]> GPRS_REGISTRATION_STATE D/RILJ ( 126): [0463]< OPERATOR {F SFR, (N/A), 20810, 5} D/RILJ......

i am developing an app that will control a multi-room audio system. I have implimented the following, which works fine on my own network at home (cable modem and D-Link DIR 855 router), but does not work on the office DSL Motorola modem/router. Our iPhone app and our Pronto ProntoScript app work at both locations, so I know that the multicasts are being sent properly. Any ideas?

I've just bought a great Bluetooth Speaker to use with my Nexus 4 and it works great. Because it was fairly cheap I went and got another in the hopes that I could connect both speakers to my N4 and output audio simultaneously to both speakers at the same time. I quickly discovered this isn't currently "working" or even possible.
After a lot of Googling, I found an app on the Play store that supposedly let me connect both at the same time but it doesn't output audio to both speakers (I get "static" from the second one). There are also conflicting opinions about whether this is even possible with the current Bluetooth spec although it does mention multicast support and all I could find are various workarounds that involved using a secondary bluetooth transmitter etc.
Any software/hack (root needed or otherwise) that would allow configuring audio to be streamed/output to two connected bluetooth speakers simultaneously? Others have suggested it for use with bluetooth headsets.

I have this weird problem with messaging. I do not receive more than 10 (around) SMS.. To receive the 11th SMS, I'll have to restart the Phone literally.. I tried many Networks and SIM cards.. but the problem continues on every service provider.. The Customer Care guy talks nothing more than the Service Center Number which is fed correct in the phone.. I thought the problem is with the phone software and rooted it .. Tried GalaxoROM, and 1.6 Donut firmwares too.. but nothing fruitful..
This might be small setting problem or a similar thing.. but is a real big pain.. I'm having a conversation with friends and after few messages I do not receive his replies.. There is no problem with sending SMS.. my every message reaches the destination.. problem is only with the receiving messages..
Restart the phone and after few mins, I receive all those pending messages one by one..
I know you guys are champs in this field.. any solution would give a big relief to this frustrated human..

I'm pretty sure no one but me is using UDP broadcasts but in the rare chance that someone is - has any experienced this? I use UDP broadcast to do LAN multiplayer games - it's how clients discover hosts of games. The EVO can't ever see the games when all my other phones can.

I am in need of some help with my HTC Magic. I haven't been able to send MMS Messages from it since I received the phone. I have spent the last 3 days on the Phone to my Mobile Carrier setting up settings and what not, with no success at all, but MMS works fine on my other phone (Nokia N97). Is there anything anyone could advise me on that might be of some help?

I can't send or receive MMS on my new Galaxy S. I called Orange helpline and they talked me through set up - it worked for me to send one and receive one and then stopped working once I had switched the phone off (to recharge). The settings are still there although it will not let me select any other setting as there is only a green dot selection for one (there are three altogether - the manufactor one, one that was sent to me via SMS and a manual one). It is not possible to select any other one but settings on all three seem to be the same. When I receive one it just says 'downloading'. If you click on it it just tells you what sort of message it is and there are no other options. The problem is, if I type a really long text it converts to MMS which will then not send. So..I can't send or receive MMS's. Any suggestions?

From a remote machine we are sending some UDP packets to our Android emulator. We are able to see the UDP packets reaching the host machine, but not able to reach the emulator, In Wireshark we are getting "Destination port unreachable" The port we are using is:49152 and static ip at both ends.Is this port supported by android emulator? What is the solution to get UDP packets to be able to reach till the emulator?

I updated my Eris to 2.1 about a month ago, and it's been running fine up until about last week. Lately, the battery hasn't been lasting me more than 12 hours, and I've done everything I can to save battery life, plus the battery cover usually gets hot enough to cook some eggs on top of. The problems I've encountered lately is with making and receiving calls. When trying to call someone, it seems to take forever. I know my phone isn't the fastest Android, but it used to work fine. It takes a good 30 seconds just to type in a 10 digit number; the phone usually freezes a couple of times, its just generally laggy.
When I try to receive a call, the same basic thing happens. The phone freezes up while I am trying to slide the bar down on the lock screen, etc. Here's the main issue. After sifting through the freezing and lagging, and finally get to the call, I cannot hear anything, and they cannot hear me. The call is connected; I see the notification up top, and I have got the vibrate to tell me it's connected.

I am unable to send or receive/download MMS messages on my droid with neither Handcent nor factory installed messaging program. When i try to send/ download MMS, it just hangs (little icon keeps going in circles like it's working but never finishes, nor are the messages sent). It's not reception. It's not impatience ( it's been hanging for days sometimes).

I was unable to receive MMS messages since upgrading to 2.1. I spoke to voda and now have the fix for anyone having problems. It may work on other networks, it may not, but it definitely sorted it for me on vodafone. Anyway, here goes:
Click on settings.
Click on Wireless & Networks.
Click on Mobile Networks.
Click on Access Point Names.
Click the Menu Button, (Left hand silver button at bottom of phone).
Click Reset To Default.
Once you have done the above, turn off your phone, remove your battery and sim card, and wait at least 10 seconds and then replace your sim card and battery. Turn your phone back on and job done, you can now receive MMS texts again. But do note, any previously received MMS texts will still be un-openable so you will need to ask the sender to resend.

I recently purchased an unlocked Sony Xperia SX SO-05D and am using it outside of Japan. I am not able to send or receive any MMS messages. I have updated the APN settings so that I'm able to get on the internet via data. When I go to the settings in the messaging app there's not even any options/setting for MMS like there was on my Xperia go.

Even after numerous factory resets, through both the Volume Down+Send+End and Settings>Privacy>Factory Reset methods, my Eris has been unable to send or receive texts, and will not allow me to send or receive calls. When I try to text, I get an SMS error with Cause Code: 34 and Error Class: 3. When I try to call, I get an automated error saying that my phone can't be authenticated at this time, and am advised to call #8899. Even after doing so, I get the same authentication error. Wi-Fi seems to work correctly, and my Google and Facebook accounts all sync pretty much perfectly. Is anyone else having any kind of problem like this? And, either way, does anyone know of any possible alternatives that may fix the problem besides a total replacement of the phone?

Just got the mobile 3 days back.I am unable to make or receive calls on X10 from yesterday. Have tried the following things : 1) Switching Off 2) Updating the software. But both these methods have not helped. Able to use WAP/GPRS but calls are not getting connected. Have tried to change the call waiting settings, phone says Network or Sim Card Error.Signal strength is also pretty decent (3-4 bars). I have tried my sim in other phones Nokia, Samsung, and it works perfectly fine.Have tried other sims on X10 and they too are showing the same error. Can't figure out what the problem is?

After a couple of days the phone is unable to make or receive calls, or send or receive txt messages. If I try and make a call it attempts to start the call, but immediately comes back with unavailable. Incoming calls go straight to voicemail. Outgoing txt messages don't work. What is strange is that if I try and browse the web (over 3G) then that works fine! I have tried doing a network scan again, and reregistering to Tmobile, but that doesn't make a difference.
If I turn the phone off and on again, then it is fine and all calls/txts are working again. I have seen this 4 times now with my phone. It doesn't always happen, but it has happened a few times now which is worrying. The annoying thing is that you obviously don't know when incoming calls stop. You only find out the problem has occured when you attempt to make a call or send a TXT.

Phone has been working fine for about 2 months with data, MMS and 3G with 3 POP accounts and 1 Exchange account all sync'd up and working. Then, on Sat at around 7:30pm I realized the phone was no longer getting emails (Outlook was chiming away but phone on desk eerily quite). Picked it up and noticed 3G indicator wasn't there. Recycled power - No change. Updated firmware to R2BA020 - No change. The APN settings are correct and haven't been changed since working. AT&T Unlimited data plan is in good standing. So, although nothing has changed, I can no longer get any data (email/web/facebook/etc.) nor can I send or receive MMS. All of these work if I turn WiFi on but not over the cell network.
