I cant get this to work anymore
Here is my code...
I have several images present in different folders in my sdcard. I would like to display a list of thumbnails. So what I have done is while rendering any row in the list I read the file in an input stream, get the byte array, decode it to obtain a bitmap and set it in an imageview.
So far so good. But when I scroll the list, the list scrolls in jerks. I believe this is because decoding a bitmap from byte array takes some time. What I would like to know is that, is there any optimization which I can do to improve the performance, or better still is there any better method to achieve what I want ?
On both the emulator and my actual phone (tattoo) I seem unable to browse the SD card - when I run ddms and use the File Explorer, I can browse /data or /system fine, but /sdcard refuses to open, and its permissions appear to be "d---------" (which of course might be the problem).
Similarly when I use ddms's "Put file on device" it fails:
29:43 E/ddms: transfer error: Permission denied Failed to push about.html on SH9CELG00306: Permission denied
The above is for my actual phone but I get a similar error on the emulator (which does have an /sdcard).
I'm searching for android phones that can use video out to the tv for a research project. I'm considering the HTC Touch Pro.
Is there anything I have to do specifically to get the video out to work (for displaying my app on the tv)? or will the phone just display a running app on the tv without extra work?
Referring to the code example of mine

how can i accommodate bigger resolution images in android.

I need to write a fairly simple .csv file to the device's sdcard (so it can then be emailed via Intent). The below code does not write the file.
CODE:...........
More code here:
I flush and close out_stream. I can even seem to be able to read from the file on the device (printing above output, using fileinputstream, to an edittext.
How can I get to this file on the sdcard?
I followed the instruction at [URL]... to disable the internal usb drive of Lenovo A820. But now my sd-card is not mounted anymore. What can I do?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWell, I've been noticing a few more problems with my eris as of late (if you want to know the others look at my post history)I've been unable to get past the lock screen to display sometimes. I just got off the phone with a friend, it was a long call as the phone/battery had heated up a bit. Now, everything with the phone seemed to be okay, I went and pulled up the HTC battery widget and was around 34C. I've seen it get this high before and had no problems. Now, I locked the phone and a few minutes later I tried to unlock it. The unlock screen would display but the touch screen wouldn't not receive any of my input. The Menu button did not work either. I could push the end button time and again and the display wound turn on and off, but no touch input ever worked. I just had to do a battery pull to get into my phone.
I've also been noticing inside TaskPanel that the amount of available memory steadily declines even if no programs are running. I have mostly sense programs ignored and I've included timerriffic and beautiful widgets as they are always running and need to be so they will function. (beautiful widgets I just purchased yesterday and I've had this problem for a week or two) If I do successfully get past the lock screen the phone will be extremely slow and TaskPanel will report something like 20 megs of available memory, with no applications running. If I restart the phone I'm usually fine. I think it is happening around the 13-14 hour mark of my phone being turned on.
I'm assuming something is hogging up my phone and I just can't tell what it is. I don't have very many 3rd party applications installed. They are closed immediately after I'm done with them except for beautiful widgets and timerriffic. I've had timerrific since the 2nd day I've owned my Eris and it's never been a problem (not to say an update didn't hose it)Anyone have similar problems? Anyone think of anything that could be causing this? [side note: I did notice a few weeks back my exchange calendar was freaking out and draining my battery, but deleting and resetting up my exchange email fixed that and it doesn't seem to be a problem now]
I can't seem to copy files to the sdcard inserted into the phone. When I try to do this with Windows Explorer, it just hangs there, and the sdcard area of the phone gets really hot. Once I unplug the USB cable Windows Explorer resumes, but the phone is still stuck there and unresponsive to any button/touch screen presses, and the phone remains hot. Copying from the sdcard works.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been unable to do anything permanent to my sd-card. I was on my vacation so all my vacation photos were deleted. It is writable, I can delete, write and change as I want but when it's rescanned all changes (delete, write etc...) were never made and it sets itself back to the 23rd. Now I have access to my computer so I formatted the sdcard hoping it would fix it. After I put it in my phone all files popped back up. So my case is:I cannot make any permanent writes/changes to it.
Formatting doesn't seem to work. Once again, it is writable (Temporarily), i took a photo and pushed it into the /system partition, it was there but not on the sdcard after reboot. Root explorer have options for mounting it R/w and R/O (It doesn't normally do that).
Why does POP3 suck on droid? why did motorola release a pda that has such a problem with simple emails? Its not like theres even pictures or detail in the email. whats the problem? i hate buying the latest and greatest and discovering its not as good as years ago. even my gmail doesnt alert me half the time when i have mail. blackberry was alot slower but a million times faster with important mail.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else noticed that when they turn WiFi on through the widget (either android or motorola one) it doesn't always actually turn on wireless?
I usually have to go to WiFi settings and then once I do that it connects to my router. This will keep happening until I restart the phone and then the widget will work another 1-2 times and then I'll have to go into the settings menu until I restart again.
Unrelated: Has anyone else had their 3G dropout today or is it just me? I'm in the northeast.
So I am trying to root my phone I am at the point where I am rooted and I have made a nandroid backup. I have moved those files to my computer and put the bugless beast nandroid files in their place. I am writing an Android app that includes an ImageView. The image to be included in the view resides on the local app directory of the emulator. The image is not being displayed in the view. The relavent XML and method used to display the image are given below. The image file is a "png" format file and is able to be opened from the local app directory. The path returned by getFilesDir() includes the full path, "/data/data/net.vitalrecord.android/files." This path designation does not exist on the development system but does exists when DDMS File Explorer is used.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a statement like:
System.out.println("My simplified Chinese characters: 好");
However in the LogCat (Eclipse Plugin) the Chinese characters appear as some junk chars:
05-11 22:14:11.182: INFO/System.out(31582): My simplified Chinese characters: Ã¥¥½Ã¥Æ’
First, I thought it was a LogCat font issue but I tried a whole bunch of Chinese fonts and all gave the same result.
The Chinese characters display fine in my Java source code (UTF-8 encoded).
Also the chars appear fine in the Emulator. Any thoughts?
I just started android development and now facing an issue. I can't show arabic unicode text on android app. I have used TextView, I tried to copy an arabic font in asset folder and try to use it. But all my characters are shown but not connected.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI replaced my original sdcard with a sandisk 16gb card. Everything went well until I started getting these blasted read on errors. Earlymon suggested a fix from another board but I don't have a stand alone card reader so I couldn't do it that way.
I was wondering if I just backed up all my stuff from my sdcard to my iMac and then just reformatted my sdcard via the phone, would that solve my problems?
I have a listview with 200 items. I use a custom view for each row. There is a code that takes some time to calculate, and because of this the list hangs out on scrolling and loads in slow (2-3sec). I have subclassed SimpleCursorAdapter, and using Filterable and SectionIndexer. I have in mind to show initially the name of the record, and put in a thread the calculation, and will show up later when it's done. How do I push back some work, and later update the listview to include the calculated data? This should show up on fly without user interaction.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am no longer able to bring up the 4 choice usb-type menu that pops up when the usb cable is connected between the phone and my pc. Now after about a second delay the battery icon changes to the charging icon and the red LED lights up.
I have Disk Drive set as default with the "Ask Me" box checked (regarding USB connection type). The cable I have been using before and now is the one marked DICMUSB that came with the phone and plugs into the htc usb converter for drawing power from the wall. My pc also does not recognize the phones internal storage or pop up an error message.
I have not had this issue before, as I have been able to move mp3's from disk to phone-sdcard as well as change the boot animation. I thought maybe an app was causing the issue, but after uninstalling everything back to when I last hooked up the phone to my pc the problem still exists.
I want to compile phone app in eclipse but after downloading and building project ,i have so many compile errors. it seems that the functions in sdk is not enough for compiling, should i add anything else to build path?

View 11 Replies View RelatedA few weeks ago, a friend and I went through the process of making my Behold 2 think it's a Galaxy (thanks to all who made that possible!). Now, after having played with it for a while and the lack of vibration annoying me, I've decided to try to use Odin to revert to the standard Behold 2 ROM.This is where my problem comes in: I am unable to get any USB Driver for the phone to work. In USB Debugging, out of debug, in download, or any other way I can think of. The phone just doesn't seem to want to connect. When not in USB debugging mode, I can get my computer to recognize the SD card and access files, and it'll charge, but, I can't get any other USB functions to work.
I'm not sure if this is a driver issue or if this is an issue with the phone itself.I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64bit.Could someone walk me through troubleshooting this?
I know that my question is a little strange.
I want to synchronize my Google phone with outlook only with the USB cable.
In this question I'm not connected to Internet so i can't be connected to a gmail account.
For example with Iphone/Itunes it is possible
Ive got a Samsung exhibit 2 4g and I want to root it. Except when I connect usb, it always says cannot install driver. I've gone to device manager and it has two listings saying "SAMSUNG Android USB Composite Device" with exclamation marks next to it. Ive factory reset the phone and I have usb debugging on to. It also wont list for adb devices. Ive burnt about 6 hours for this and nothing.
