Does anyone know any good tutorial about setting up environment and importing libraries for Android development with IntelliJ IDEA?
I downloaded some Android plugins but still the IDE marks all Android objects (Activity, SurfaceHolder...) red.
Is there any way (e.g. with the command-line) I can upload an APK to an android phone wirelessly (wifi or Bluetooth) and launch it on the phone from a desktop machine?
I can do this things with abd from the command line when a USB cable is attached but I'd like to know if I can do this without having to mess around with cables.
How do you remove a widget (or anything else) from the desktop?
View 3 Replies View RelatedEverytime i put my droid into the desktop charger and then remove it later, all of my desktop icons and widgets on all 3 screens dissapear.
2 questions:
1. is there a way to stop this from happening
2. if not, is there an easier way to fix it besides shutting down the phone and restarting it?
Moto droid, not rooted, have aquarium live wallpaper, beutiful widgets large, no launcher or home applications installed.
Is there an app that will backup and restore your desktop widgets to there original position. I know you can backup/restore your icons with Launcher Pro, Titanium, etc... but they do not restore working widgets. Is the only way to do this through a complete system restore like nandroid?
I would like to be able to restore my desktop with widgets after something like a factory reset or custom ROM install. Is it possible to restore just the desktop/widgets from a nandroid backup? What data would I restore to accomplish that?
Anyone know how to make a custom widget for the desktop like the google search, clock etc?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a G1, love it, but it has a wimpy battery as many of us know. I have been wondering if widgets, desktop icons and even the choice of wallpaper, or picture that is used for the desktop background make any real difference in battery life. No matter how I use the phone, the display is always the main or at least major component of battery usage.
I read on an android website that desktop widgets do tax the battery and it was also suggested that having all three desktops full of icons also does so. Lastly, I was thinking that a black desktop ( I took a picture of a piece of black paper ) would use the least battery because the screen is not producing any light. Any input on these things ? If it would give appreciably better battery life, I would black out the desktops as I have done and not have any icons or widgets.
When I placed a widget on the desktop does that mean that its always running the background?

AndI've been recently thinking all the news concerning how fragmented Android is getting, with different Android versions and tweaks by different phone manufacturers, and then for developers you have different size formats. An example would be that HTC Tattoo might not be able to run everything that another phone might run, due to different screen formats, etc. And now the Android tablets are coming with different Android versions and different screen sizes, all from 5" to 11". Will this make developing Android applications harder? Apple has it safe here since they manufacturer all devices that run the iPhone OS: the pods, phones and now the pad so they can easily control and make sure not to loose any customers by introducing a new device. When Apple introduced iPad they had to make sure that all the old iPhone applications would work on the iPad. They solved that neatly by saying that iPhone applications will simply be stretched out to the double size and it would fit on the iPad. Unfortunately Android does not have the same luxury to do this. As I said, I am not an Android developer. Just a curious software developer For you guys who work actively in the Android community, does Google have a solution for this? Will you be able to run phone applications on the tablets? View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to run the Android Notepadv3 app on the Motorola Droid. When I am creating a new note, if I rotate my phone so that the view should switch to horizontal, or if I open it up so the keyboard is exposed, the app freezes and crashes.
I haven't modified the program in anyway from Exercise 3 solution (http://developer.android.com/resources/tutorials/notepad/index.html). Any ideas why this is happening?

I am getting an error when i try and run the project, the project has a little red square with a white cross on it but when drilling down into the elements of the project (using eclipse) there is element with an error. In the problems tab of eclipse I have the following text

Unparsed aapt error(s)! Check the console for output. HelloFormStuff2 Unknown Android Packaging Problem
But there is nothing in the console!!

I'm back on the forums, FINALLY! I finally got fed-up with dealing with Verizon and their rediculas prices. I had 2 phones on my 700 Family Share plan and it was nearly $160 with NO extra features. Just phone. Not internet, no texts, basic NON3G phone.. Looked into other carrirers and found Sprint... What is that? It's HUGE!... It's the EVO 4G. I'M THERE! I am spending the same each month as I was with verizon, with a Smartphone plan. I love it!

I had to make a choice between my Droid Eris and purchasing a vehicle for the future. Of course, the vehicle won; so I no longer have the Eris *pout*. So I've searched high and low and can't figure out a good (idiot proof) tutorial for setting up adb? Can someone put one together (for windows) or point me in the right direction? I currently use terminal for almost everything, but most people write their tuts for adb. If you write one, please start simple and at the bottom and work your way up.

Can anybody point me to some tutorials where i can find instructions on something similar?
If not, what is the best method to use to get the images into the app? I have tried several ways from creating object classes for the images and instantiating it with a drawable in each using the Bitmap Factory to return the image but that won't work.
I am a beginner to android and could really use reference material but can't find anything useful that covers this subject.
