Android :: TextView Dynamic Size

Jan 22, 2010

I want to create a TextView that will stretch the width of the screen and use a textsize that will keep the text on one line and fill the width. So bigger words would be smaller fontsize and smaller words would be bigger font size. I tried digging around in the docs under TextView but could not find what I needed.

Android : How Can I Access Dynamic TextView?

Jun 9, 2010

I have created a table with 2 rows in it. Each row has 5 TextViews with a default text of 0. There is also a button outside of the table. I am trying to figure out how to update each of the TextViews in each row on each successive press of the button. So on the first press of the button the first TextView in the first row should update to 1. On the second press of the button the second TextView in the first row should update to 2...etc. I can't figure out how to do this programmatically without having to code it all - is it possible? Basically I guess I need to build up the ID of the TextView dynamically. So if the TextViews have ids as item1, item2, item3 etc. Then I need to build up the findViewById(R.id.item + i); Obviously this is not possible but is there a way to do this?

I cant believe to create a total new receiver and a new /xml/widget2.xml just for another size?!

Android :: ArrayAdapter Of Dynamic Size

Oct 19, 2010

I need a gallery to be able to hold up to thirty custom views. These views need to added or removed whenever, they also need to be able to be display in a display bow beneath the gallery. How do I do this?I looked at the doc file for arrayadapter but it requires me to use a reference Id for each view I add, but each view is all java coded. Should I just use setId upon creation of the view and just throw that id into the array adapter, or is there a way to create one without using resource id's?

Android : Adjust Text Font Size To Fit Textview

Apr 11, 2010

Is there any way in android to adjust the textsize in a textview to fit the space it occupies?

E.g. I'm using a TableLayout and adding several textviews to each row. Since I don't want the textviews to wrap the text I rather see that it lowers the font size of the content.

I have tried measureText, but since I don't know the size of the column it seems troublesome to use.
This is the code where I want to change the font size to something that fits

Android :: TextView / Screen View Changes / Text Size Remains Same

Nov 16, 2010

I am developing an application in which the layout is independent of screen resolution.
Now my problem is that in TextView the textview layout does change itself when the resolution of screen changes but the size of text remain same.I want that when the resolution is high, according to that the text size should also adjust itself(i.e. text size should be changed). And similarly when resolution is low the text size should also shrink. But here when i reduce Y-AXIS to an extent the text vanishes.I will really appreciate any answer.

Android :: Android RelativeLayout - Trying To Vertically Center A TextView When The TextView Below Has No Text

Jul 14, 2010

I have a ListView that contains an Image on the left of two vertically-oriented TextViews using a RelativeLayout. When both TextViews have text it looks fine. Sometimes the TextView on the bottom won't have any text, and the problem is that the entire layout is several pixels above where it should be because it still reserves that space for text when there isn't any making the entire list have annoying blank gaps. I remember seeing an example of where someone made the layout not reserve the space, but I can't remember how he did it.

Android :: How Do I Make My Image View Fixed Size Regardless Of Size Of Bitmap

Sep 23, 2010

So I'm loading images from a web service, but the size of the images are sometimes smaller or bigger than other images and the visualization looks silly when I put them in a ListView in android. I'd like to fix the size of my ImageView so that it only shows a portion of the image if it's larger than a preset amount. I've tried everything I can think of setting the setMaxWidth/setMaxHeight, setting the scale type to centerCrop, using ClipableDrawable wrapping my BitmapDrawable, setting using Drawable.setBounds(). I've tried setting in the XML and programmatically, but neither worked. I'm very surprised setting max width/height didn't do anything. Below is the XML I'm using ImageView definition in my layout file

Android :: About Size Of Resource Assets Files & Final Apk Size

Oct 2, 2009

I am currently developing a dictionary application with voice database. I would like to know about the current Android limitation on the file size. I am using a self-provided sqlite database ( > 50mb ) . I tested that once the built .apk size exceeds ~30mb the app will not be installed onto the simulator (INSTALL_FAILED_ INSUFFICIENT _STORAGE). Could anyone confirm me that if up until now there is no way to embed such large size files in a single apk ( Aimed to sell at Google Market without requiring user to download datafile afterwards). Also, is there a limitation of 1,048,576 bytes for a single file in the assets folder ?

Android :: Installed Application Size Vs APK File Size

Can somebody explain to me what makes up the installed application size? I have an apk that is about 8 MB, and often when I install I get the INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE error. I have around 25-30 MB free space on the phone. I'm doing debugging so I have to upload lots of new versions. If I uninstall the previous version then I can install the new version. The application manager claims that the app is taking up 22 MB. So back to the original question, how come the app is taking up 22 MB when it really only is 8 MB?

Android :: Png Downloaded Size Different To Server Size?

Why is this, and how can I make them smaller?

Android :: Persistance Of Dynamic Objects

Aug 7, 2009

I am new to this android stuff and SQLlite etc.I am going to log some numbers at a certain interval, and will put them into a dynamic histogram, by dynamic i mean that there will be a maximum number of samples in the histogram, the histogram and age stuff should be persisted either in db or plain file. For simplicity, I would like the samples to be stored in a blob type datafield, but i cannot se if this is possible. Alternative i could have another table with the samples Or I could simply have files with filename = name and content = samples.my concern might be unclear by now, but put simply, what is most effecient regarding power usage?

Android :: Dynamic Pin Overlays In MapView

Oct 29, 2009

I've been reading the (shoddy) documentation for the Google Maps API (MapActivity et al), and I think I have roughly worked out how it works. It seems that if you want to add a marker overlay you can use ItemizedOverlay easily, but you have to add all your markers at once. There doesn't seem to be any way to remove them.

What I want to do is query markers from an online database as the user pans around (in the same way the actual map tiles are fetched). Is there a simple way to do this?

As far as I can tell I need to subclass Overlay and implement the draw method, but where is the best place to put the code that fetches new markers when the map is panned? There doesn't seem to be an onMapChanged() method anywhere. My best guess is MapController.onKey() but that seems wrong.
