Sprint HTC Hero : Does USB Standard Have A Standard Power Output?
Oct 26, 2009so i made a wonderful discovery this weekend that my phone will take a charge from my CD deck in my car that has a USB jack. my concern is, that it may end up damaging the phone somehow and i was beyond paranoid. does anyone know if it is a safe thing to do? Does the USB standard have a standard power output?

However the build fails with the following errors : [2009-06-04 00:00:31 - Laser] W/ResourceType(16578): Bad XML block: header size 2475 or total size 0 is larger than data size 0 [2009-06-04 00:00:31 - Laser] /home/niko/dev/workspace/Laser/res/menu/ main.xml:4: ERROR Error: Resource is not public. (at 'icon' with value '@android:drawable/ic_menu_play_clip'). [2009-06-04 00:00:31 - Laser] Unknown error: The only threads I could find with this error were about rebuilding android platform xml files. Any idea about what I could have missed?

Feb 29, 2012I accidentally deleted all 3 icons out of the standard dock bar at the bottom (CM7) and want to reinstate them.
When trying to reinstate the "contacts" button, I can't find the proper ADW-launcher icon for it. Where are these located, how can I chose them?

Aug 4, 2010I must say LP is kinda cool, gives you a different feel of the phone. Right now i'm only using one screen, and 1 dock (not multiple dock screens), but i guess i'm just trying to find out if this is actually any different than the normal senseUI. I see there are limited icons, and we can either use the LP icons, or the default icons, but maybe there is an expansion pack for LP that i'm not understanding? Also, what are you guys using as a clock. With LP, i can only add the analog clock, or other wigdet clocks i've downloaded, but can't load 10 clocks that came with the phone. I'm assuming those are senseUI clocks, and will not work with LP. Should i download clock widgets that will work with LP? Also, since i'm only using 1 screen, and 1 dock, and i really not utilizing LP to the max here ? I should be using the dock more, and using it for more applications to quickly pull up right? Does anyone have any advice on how to customize it a little bit to make the experience more enjoyable, or make it worth the while ?Also, battery life? Any difference? Is it the same? I have ATK that i run every once in a while to kill some buggy apps/games, I noticed that LP is running and taking up a good amount of resources, has anyone reported a really bad battery due to LP being installed?

Apr 21, 2010The android sdk offers the standard menu icons via android.R.drawable.X, however some standard icons, such as ic_menu_refresh (the refresh icon), are missing from android.R.Is there any way to get the original icons, maybe by extracting them from the applications? I already checked the Android source, but it's a bit too huge to look everywhere for the images.I know the androiddrawableexplorer website, but I would like to get the correct hdpi, mdpi and ldpi version, preferable the original ones.Do you have any idea?

Nov 6, 2009I notice that most apps that come with the OS use a standard look and feel, with common icons and images for common tasks. For example, when data is being loaded, you see the "Loading" text with the green revolving arrow to indicate that something is happening, or when you are asked if you want to take a photo, you see the gray camera icon image. I have also seen private apps downloaded from the market use these same icons. So.
1) Are these images available for our use? I'm sure my apps would look more pro if they used them.
2) Is it recommended that android developers follow the standard look and feel in their apps?
HTC Desire :: Power Strip Icons?
Jun 10, 2010I'm new to Andriod and in a place with poor WiFi and poor cell coverage but was able to download my first program yesterday "Olive Tree" and it works.
I don't understand all the icons on the power strip I put on my home page:
From left to right:
WiFi, Bluetooth, X.Y, Screen Brightness
Can some one explain X and Y?
Screen is set to medium.
I turn WiFi and Bluetooth on and off as needed. Is that good power mangegment?
At a conference so don't get to play much most of the day.
Also using the built in weather widget, not much connectivity sometimes it works, sometimes not.
Android :: Widget Layout Matched With Standard Home Screen Shortcut?
Oct 30, 2009With a home screen widget I'm trying to layout. Basically, I'm trying to layout my widget so it matched a standard home screen application shortcut perfectly. Basically, at this point, I'm about ~2px off. Has anyone got this to match up just right? Should I be able to find this layout in the source somewhere? Here's my layout thus far:

Oct 6, 2010I'm curious why anyone would use the Google Search box (and take up that home screen space) when all you have to do is press the magnifying glass for the same feature (and on any home screen, without having to scroll back to the widget). A long-press opens voice search, so I see no benefit in even using the widget at all.

Oct 5, 2010Just got my EVO a couple days ago so I am still learning. Where do I download widgets?? Also it has a widget to turn on and off 4g, wifi, gps. Is there any way that I can add a toggle for turning on off mobile network and cdma vs. gsm? I have a horrible signal at my office so the phone constantly searches for a signal and kills my battery. I don't want to turn on airplane mode because I do still get calls and need my phone to at least kind of work.

Nov 22, 2009Does anyone have an issue where if they toggle GPS off using the power widget, then goes back to re-enable the GPS, the GPS doesn't quite work right. I saw this yesterday the GPS was all wacky and GN wouldn't lock but maps would. I restarted the phone, and it worked great. I see this from time to time.

May 5, 2010Searched all over the forums and internet for an answer but came up blank.I downloaded an app called power control and installed it. It screwed up my contact list so I wanted to uninstall it. Not just remove it from my desktop, but full uninstall is what I'm after.Did a search for it in the android market and could not find it anywhere again to uninstall it that way. Tried using Astro File Manager to uninstall but does not show up there.The only place it shows up on my phone is in the bottom menu bar ( menu, phone, + ) I hit + -----> widgets ------> power control. Anybody have an ideas on how to uninstall this thing ?

HTC Incredible :: Brightness Settings - Power Control Widget
May 4, 2010The "automatic" brightness setting sucks. It doesn't detect high light situations, like being outdoors. To get the proper brightness you need to use the power control widget to set the brightness up to see it in sunlight. Not a big deal, but after using the widget you either have to manually reset it to automatic in the settings, turn the brightness off or on high. Its just kind of annoying. When your in sunlight without the brightness up to the highest level I can see nothing on the phone. Literally the screen appears to be off. Is this just my phone, or does the incredible really not sense high light situations.
