Android :: Photo URI Of Contact Image - Using With Simple Cursor Adapter
Apr 8, 2010I want to write a short app for getting some info from contacts, the first list screen I have should display the user Image (or an Image from resources if no such image exists) an the user display name. The problem is I don't seem to find a query that will provide me with the display name and a user id And the image URI in the same query. Moreover I'm aware of the fact that if the user has no image and the URI is empty or null i will most likely to get an exception while the adapter calls setViewImage(). Is there a simple way around it or should I override the setViewImage() or bindView() methods?
Also about the query, any chance I can make a single query for contact URI, _ID, contact_id and display name? my current queries: To get the contacts:

If I have a contact id and want the image:

Here I get from a cursor with _ID column the id and then creating the uri, I know I can get a row number but I'm not familiar enough with contentProvider to know how to join tables to get it all in one query (if even possible).

Nov 5, 2010I would like to make a file browser that will do two things:
1) Allow the user to browse and select a directory
2) Allow the user to browse all files on their sdcard
I've looked for tutorials but can't seem to find any? how what my code would need to do in order to have a simple file browser or providing me with a link to a tutorial/source code?

Aug 26, 2010Stock Gallery app. While memory cards that can hold thousands of pictures are common these days, the HTC Gallery won't allow categories, and puts them all in one group. What were they thinking? Anybody has an alternative that supports categories and actually WORKS on the Wildfire? Jun 24, 2010Htc Hero is supposed to be a multi touch device, you can pinch to zoom in browser and in photo viewer, the thing that I can't understand is why all other applications don't support multitouch.
For example I downloaded snesoid and nesoid and there is written in the options that my firmware (1.5) doesnt' support multitouch, making it impossible to play games.
So is HTC hero with 1.5 really multitouch or not? And will I be able to use multitouch in emulators and other apps downloaded from the market when the 2.1 will come out?

Nov 5, 2009I could be missing this, but is there a way to send/tag a photo to facebook from the photo itself? The Facebook app for my blackberry lets me do this. If I pull up a photo I just took, I have the option of sending it to Facebook, as well as tagging it. I can't figure out how to do this on my Moment.

Jun 4, 2010Here are two pics, one from my canon dslr and one from the HTC evo. Both were reduced by Photo bucket because of a file size restriction. Not bad for a cell phone camera, imo. Sorry, but I didn't have time to do some other examples, Canon T1I, 18-55mm lens, set to 8MP, full auto On the left HTC Evo 4g, 8MP, full auto On the right.

I would just like something that is protected via a password so that if my phone is lost/stolen the finder cannot access this information. Dec 16, 2009I try to write an simple animation by using a handler.However whatever I try it does not function asynch which causes only the last image in the sequence being displayed.

However it seems that all painting is done after the handler is completely done, meaning that the second image is shown and not the first.
I also tried the message handler implementation from the Snake sample but also here not with the expected result.
Can anyone give me an idea to show an image for a short definable period and switch back to the original image?

Take a picture of a blank white A4 paper. 2. Verify (by code) that the picture is "White". (this's why I include 'simple' in the topic) I mean, the program should be able to tell if the user just took the picture of "white" paper and not any other colors. For the code... I can guess that the actual process should be: 1. Use Camera API to take a picture. // this step should be easy 2. Convert it to Bitmap. // this step should also be easy 3. Verify that it is "White". //*** now I need some help here. How can I do step 3? I look up the docs and found this is the Bitmap class: getPixels (int[] pixels, int offset, int stride, int x, int y, int width, int height) I can use this and compare the data pixel-by-pixel but it seems expensive. to sleep for 5 seconds. I have a program that continues scanning wifi until it finds a certain router then plays a tune once found. All works fine, but it scans in 1.6 EXTREMELY fast, where as on 2.0 it scans about once per second. I also made a stop button that does:
mainWifi.setWifiEnabled(false);
But this causes a force close. ? actually every application I have made so far except hello world just gives me a force close. I have checked my permissions in the manifest etc.? I have a soundboard app that cannot play more than 7 sounds before it force closes? why?
Is it my phones hardware?
