Android :: Setup Opacity Of A Drawable Object?

How can i set the opacity of a Drawable object?
There are several custom-made graphic objects (.png files) included in the project inside res/drawable map.
All elements are normally loaded and displayed in the user interface except two icons and so far haven't figured out what causes the problem.
The code which doesn't affect the user interface as it should is...
In both cases there is only ic_volume_small displayed on the screen and the Variables window in the IDE displays the following:
R.drawable.ic_volume_small = Class not
loaded : net.client.android.R$drawable
R.drawable.ic_volume_of_small = Class
not loaded :
net.client.android.R$drawable
The method (member of IconImage class) which should change the icon image is the following code...
Does anyone know what could cause the described problem?
In my application, user can click on a button and then he can select a picture from his gallery. This image is then displayed.
However, when the user performs 3 or 4 times this operation, the following exception is thrown, due to memory allocation problem code...
Here a sample of my code ...
Is it possible to force object (here the Drawable object) to be released from memory?
I'm designing a custom view which is an X/Y Plot. It's a moving graph that scrolls to the left with time and new Y values are continuously coming in at 10 per second.
I've been able to make it work with an array of integers where the array index is the X value and the integer value is the Y value, but this seems horribly inefficient (Because every time it comes time to re-paint, I have to loop 800+ times to paint the graph). Then we do it all again 10 times a second. yuck.
Can anybody think of a paintable object that I can draw points to and perform some kind of scroll transformation and then just draw the new points each time, rather than the whole canvas?
Any other ideas out there?
I need to create a map with items on it (the map consists of a drawable object, which represents a room) and I thought about using buttons with background images for the items so that they are clickable.
I guess the AbsoluteLayout fits here the best, but unfortunately it's deprecated. What layout would you recommend me for this kind of application ? Is there another layout which supports X/Y coordinates ?
I need to know how he takes drawable object. I'm collecting some ImageView objects in array, they have background images that are rather big in resolution so they take lot of memory...
I have read somewhere that it will automatically create image with resolution that my imageView have, so i think it will take less memory than first one. Please tell me, if i set scaleType property, will it scale that image? Will that help me to save memory?
On the android website, there is a section about color drawables. Defining these drawables in xml looks like this:
<resources>
<drawable name="solid_red">#f00</drawable>
<drawable name="solid_blue">#0000ff</drawable>
<drawable name="solid_green">#f0f0</drawable>
</resources>
In the java api, they have thr following method to define rounded corners:
setCornerRadius(float radius)
Is there a way to set the rounded corners in the xml?
In my Android project, I want to loop through the entire collection of Drawable resources. Normally, you can only retrieve a specific resource via its ID using something like:
InputStream is = Resources.getSystem().openRawResource(resourceId)
However, I want to get all Drawable resources where I won't know their ID's beforehand. Is there a collection I can loop through or perhaps a way to get the list of resource ID's given the resources in my project?
Or, is there a way for me in Java to extract all property values from the R.drawable static class?
How can I get the alpha/opacity of a View after I've animated it? code...

This is the android URI returned by android.provider.MediaStore.Images.Media.INTERNAL_CONTENT_URI content://media/external/images/media/3

Never found a solution for the original question. But if you want the byte stream of an image in the pictures gallery, this piece of code will do that.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was able to successfully setup a POP account through the Setup Screen...in fact when I go back through Setup, I still see the account. The problem is I can't DO anything with it in setup (including deleting it to start over) and it doesn't show up in my Apps window with an icon! I see it on the setup screen labeled "Setup Accounts" but no matter if I tap it or hold it or swipe it or try to hit the menu key, it just sits there. There is a green button with the checkmark in it. I guess what I would think i ought to be able to do is to assign it an icon (or even get a generic one) and find the account listed on my app screen...I'm willing to reset it, but I can't even delete it to start!

When trying to create new project using Eclipse It is not creating simple res/drawable/ instead its creating three drawable folder. i.e. 1] drawable-hdpi 2] drawable-ldpi, 3]drawable-mdpi What is this all three for? General scenario as per Google it needs res/drawable/ to save icon image. Now on Eclise where to save icons? On all folder or?
View 4 Replies View RelatedAccording to official documentation Google says that "Once you've defined your Drawable in XML, save the file in the res/drawable/ directory of your project." is the way to add a XML drawable to the project. But when I created the project ADT created 3 different drawable folders for mdpi, hdpi, and ldpi. So when I wanted to create my XML drawable, I right click on my drawable-hdpi folder and select "Add new Android XML file", and there I have to select what kind of XML file I want to create, but there isn't "drawable" to select. If I create new text file and save it as button_drawable.xml Eclipse says that there is an Error in the file and that It can't build my project.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to convert a Canvas to Drawable?I may be really off in my solution, so if you have a better suggestion, please do tell me. This is what I'm trying to do.I'm trying to create a custom RadioButton. to set different states of the radio button, I need to use this parameter and one of the parameter to addState is Drawable. I know I can easily provide an image file and use it as a Drawable, but I want to do some image manipulation to the image before using it.There is a tutorial in ApiDemo called AlphaBitmap. It uses the onDraw method of a View to change a PNG file to full red and draw something with a gradient. So I customized it to shade an icon with gradient. So the problem now is that this is a View, and the View works perfectly fine if I add this View to the main view. But i want to convert this View to Drawable so I can use it as one of the parameter in addState. What I really want to achieve is to have different colour shades for different state of the RadioButton without providing different images to do so.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have built android 2.1 on freescale's i.MX platform. But after running Gallery3D, it will crash with the log of failed to load resource. I found that the whole drawable-hdpi/ (it really contains in the Gallery3D source code res/) is not in the apk package, and cause lack of drawable-hdpi/icon_cancel.png. The apk only contains drawable-mdpi/ and drawable/. My question is why the drawable-hdpi/ resource is dropped when building apk? Per my understanding is that, which drawable-* resource loading is determined on runtime, and all the drawable-* should be in the apk package.
