View 2 RepliesI am trying to get the WebView to have similar behavior as the android browser. The browser opens all pages in a way that tries to fit their width to the screen. However, the default behavior of the WebView is to start at a 100% pixel scale so it starts zoomed in on the top left corner.
I have spent the last couple hours trying to find a way to get the WebView to scale the page to the screen like it does in the browser but I'm not having any luck. Has anyone found a way to accomplish this?
I see is a setting called setLoadWithOverviewMode, but that didn't appear to do anything at all. I also experimented with setInitialScale but on different screen sizes and web page sizes that won't be as graceful as the browsers scaling.
Any one have any leads?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy app uses a WebView, and users sometimes adjust the zoom level to make the text larger. However the zoom level setting is lost when the Activity is closed and another one started.
I can't see how to get and set the zoom level programatically on WebView, can anyone suggest a way this could be done?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI made a bit of a mistake when updating to the latest Android SDK. I downloaded the SDK Manager manually, then downloaded the 2.0 (and 1.5r3) platforms, and only then updated Eclipse...and realised I probably should have updated it all from the ADT within Eclipse. So I am currently stuck with Eclipse not able to see the SDK's I downloaded to the SDK Manager.
How do I add those SDK's the ADT, or do I just have to re-download the SDK from within Eclipse (which seems like a real waste).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to update an AppWidget manually when a user setting changes on the device.I can tell that my AppWidget onUpdate method is being called as a result since I log some debug strings to logcat in the code. However the AppWidget itself doesn't change on the screen. Here comes the interesting part: if I rotate my device and force a refresh of the home screen (from PORTRAIT to LANDSCAPE or vice-versa) then finally my AppWidget gets updated. However rotating the device does not trigger the onUpdate method to be called, so the AppWidget must be using the RemoteViews provided in the earlier update. Can somebody explain me what to do to force the home screen redraw of my AppWidget when it processes an update?

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy custom AppWidgetProvider has onUpdate method where i have logic to update RemoteViews
It is not periodically updated by system, but rather, i'd like to trigger onUpdate if something happens (in one of my app Activities). both custom AppWidgetProvider and Activities i'd like to trigger update from run with the same UID
I tried some AppWidgetManager's methods, but no luck, finally i ended with really weird solution: i'm sending broadcast with action ACTION_APPWIDGET_UPDATE and extras EXTRA_APPWIDGET_IDS which i got from AppWidgetManager
Is it a common way of updating AppWidgetProvider?

I have a Preferences dialog with some EditTextPreference elements. The preference values can be edited by end-users when they click on the particular item. However, at the first application launch, I would like to create a sort of wizard to guide the end-users through the configuration. I need to show the EditTextPreference edit dialog programatically. Somehow I need to emulate the end-user clicked on the preference.
Is it possible?
For my design i have in the xml file something like:
The design is like a row that have two cells. I want one of them to be autosize and fill the row and one of them to have fixez size. I want that the second linearlayout to wrapp its content and the first one to fill the rest of the space.
Something like in css having two divs floating left and one having fixed size and one filling the rest of the row.
Is something like that possible using the xml file without changing the sizes manually?

Is there a way to Manually start a task with Tasker? Scenario being, I have a 2 Profiles setup. One launches the "discreet" task (when I'm at work) and the other launches "Silent" task (that runs at night). But there are occasions when I went to manually start the Tasks (Silent when I'm at the Cinema, for example). I've tried creating the Widgets, but they don't do anything when pressed. I'm happy to go into the app to select the task, but cant find any options to do so.

I'm working on a little Player with Playlist and use the Gallery Widget to visualize the Playlist. I tried to scroll the Gallery Widget manual to an active item, but the Widget don't support any functions to do this. There are several methods in the Gallery.java class
movePrevious() moveNext() scrollToChild( int pos ) but the visibility of this methods is default or private. So i can't override this functions, if I Inherit from Gallery class.
can any one please help for a solution to scroll the Gallery manual?
