How to manually install Android 2.2 on your Nexus One. Apparently at some point last night a very select few Nexus One owners started getting the Android 2.2 update OTA. So if patience is one of your major virtues you should feel free to hold out for that update notification to hit; if on the other hand you would rather just go ahead and get your Froyo on now just follow the directions below.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been looking around at a lot of different sites today, trying to gather information about installing the official Froyo build that was released today - but am having difficulty parsing through it all because of my specific phone setup. I have an unlocked Nexus One with the RA Recovery Image and Cyanogenmod 5.0.8-N1 installed. It seems that all the instructions that I have seen (and the files making the rounds out there) seem to be intended for stock phones. Can anyone point me to a set of instructions with the unlocked phone with a custom recovery image in mind, or am I completely missing something obvious?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI haven't been able to find an app/widget to add a shortcut to manually sync the calendar for a specific account, or in any case, to take me to the 'Accounts and sync settings'->'Account sync' screen.
The reason is I don't want auto-sync enabled all the time. I tried using Anycut to create a shrotcut, but it kept crashing.
So I know it's possible to install the 2.1 genie weather app and the Nexus gallery app on Eris 2.1. But is it possible to install the Nexus launcher on Eris 2.1? I'm not talking about some janky imitation that sort of looks like it, I mean the real thing. I'm talking about this:

I followed the instructions posted on here yesterday to unroot my phone - worked fine. The superuser and and wifi tether are now gone. I went in this morning to try to manually install the froyo update from android and me, and when trying to run it, I get the following:

Okay so back when .6 hit the air, there were a few links to download the zip version.
I downloaded it, thinking I could manually install it just like I did ver .3, but no one mentioned doing that, and given HTC's tweet I am assuming I shouldn't do this.. But am I right about that? Why couldn't we manually install the correct version from the zip just like .3?
I have read that to install apps manually I need to go to menu-applications and check unknown sources. I don't see that as an option in JH7 so am I missing something? Also, just to review. I can get any APK that will work on my phone, copy it over, double click on it and thats it?

I'm trying to install my app to test it on a real device - my own Nexus one. after downloading and installing the USB driver - the devices charges just fine. after I mount the USB storage (from the device) I can even see the phone's file system from the computer (thus able to move files in and out of the SD card). however - "adb devices" command returns an empty list. also, Eclipse "Device Chooser" doesn't show the device (it shows emulators I previously configured).

In the Android Eclipse plugin, I have downloaded and installed the USB driver (revision 3) package. But when I connect my Nexus One to my PC (running Windows 7) using the USB cable, a message box pops up and shows that "No driver found" for "Nexus One". I have activated USB Debugging on my device. And when I run adb devices on my PC, it just prints List of devices attached and no devices are listed. And if I use Device Manages in Windows, and tries to update the driver for "Nexus One", I can not select a driver in the "driver directory" of Android SDK. How can I install a driver for Nexus One on Windows 7 so I can use it for USB debugging my Android applications on a real device?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI Have a Nexus 7 and recently I found that I needed to use ADB for something and I had used my Nexus 7 with ADB on this computer before (thats how I installed KitKat) but whenever I connect my Nexus now it says that is not configured correctly and when I attempted to install the ADB driver it said windows encountered an error. I am currently running windows with Driver verification disabled and on test mode. I am also running windows in test mode so that it wouldn't block the driver. I have tried every driver possible from the one in the SDK to the intel android adb driver and even PDAnet. I have checked inside the driver file that it is properly registered for my nexus 7. I am running Windows 8.1 on my computer and android 4.4.2 kitkat on my Nexus 7.

I know I can change the security settings in Froyo to where it locks when the display is off, meaning I could use the power button on my Droid X, but I don't want it to lock every time the screen dims. In other words I want:
a) phone locks on a timed basis (say, 10, 15, 20 minutes of inactivity)
b) phone locks when I tell it to via app/widget
I tried searching for such an app/widget but most of what I found was just enhancements for the lock screen or replacements that didn't address this problem.
I just bought myself a brand-spanking new Samsung Vibrant from T-mobile the other day. I was then informed that the JI6 update was being pushed out via OTA. Only problem is, my plan was to use this thing via wifi only (I bought a 1 month voice-only Flex Plan to activate it). According to T-mobile, if I want any updates, my only choice is to switch over to a monthly data plan (big old $70 a month bill). So I turn to the experts on these forums... is there a way to install these updates manually over wifi? Or is it time to take the phone back?

If I go to settings, SD Card & phone storage settings, it says I have 158MB available space under Internal phone storage. So I have plenty of room to install things, what's the deal?
