Android :: Searchable Calendar That Import 10 Years Of Outlook Data
Sep 25, 2010
I recently bought a DroidX and am looking to import 10 years of Outlook calendar info. I don't need to do a two-way synch as I am using Touchdown for Exchange synchronization and it works great (but it is not good with large calendar history files). I just need a stand-alone calendar app that has it's own data file and can import my Outlook calendar history and allow me to search.

How should I move 10 years of calendar information to my Google Gmail account? Currently using Outlook 2003, HTC Incredible (no calendar info yet); old phone was Palm Centro. Ready to take the plunge but do I move all calendar data at once? Someone mentioned copying everything until this year and placing it in an archive calendar? Have no idea how to do this. And I want/need to be able to see (and search) on all my old data.

For my CS bachelors I am doing a Senior project using android and google maps.My vision was to do a (relatively) simple Dijkstra shortest path using google maps road data. I was going to add elevation change along with 2D distance. I am doing well playing with maps in android but I am completely stumped trying to access google maps data in any sort of searchable form. How would I go about accessing the data for say intersections of roads (lat/long) in a particular area? There has to be a way to pull that data in some sort of tree form. It seems like it may be possible with kml?Any pointers would be awesome.I want my paths to follow roads but If i cant this is going to turn into an orienteering application fairly fast.

I finally got my work email sync'd on my Android phone (Outlook). However, all my annoying meetings from work are now popping up as "notifications" in my phone's status bar. I can't stand corporate meetings, which are a colossal waster of time, and i don't want to be reminded of all the meetings on my work schedule. I was able to successfully turn of the Outlook mail notifications on my phone (and I still get Gmail notifications, since they are two separate email systems, which is exactly what I want). How do I turn my "Outlook calendar reminders," but still be reminded of my Google Calendar reminders, which is my personal, and far more important, calendar?

I got my hero about a week ago and since then I'm still trying to import my contacts from outlook, but no picture imported although in outlook they appear with picture. All my contacts with picture in outlook were backed up from my old iphone. I tried to synchronize my hero with those contacts, but no picture. After that i tried to export contacts from outlook in a *.vcf file, uploaded them into google contacts, but still no picture. Also another problem: i deleted all my contacts in google and then synchronized my phone with it, but instead of downloading them from the hero, it appears that google overwrites the phone contacts. Is there any way to overwrite google contacts with the phone ones? Or at least merge them?

I have a HTC Thunderbolt and use all the Google tools for my calendar, email and contacts. At work I have Outlook 2007. I would REALLY like to have my Outlook calendar (at minimum) pushed/synchronized to my phone. Is there an app or a way to configure this to work? Right now I am using the Outlook Web Mobile app for my email and I can view my calendar there but I would like schedule/calendar all in one place.

I would like to get my calendar sync'd with my phone and am struggling.
I used the Kies sync, which then resulted in an outlook prompt to allow access. I clicked yes, and the sync in Kies seemed to have completed.
I then looked on the phone, and can't see calendar anywhere. I looked in apps, nothing. I looked in widgets and there was a full page calendar view widget. Added to a new home page and it just said "loading" forever.
I then installed "google calendar" which when I opens just immediately closes.
So I am not sure how to get a calendar on my Samsung G2, let alone to sync it to outlook.

I have a mac with Outlook for MAC 2011 on it. I have had a GS3 for almost a year (made the switch from BB). Since I made the switch I have not been able to get my calendar (or anything for that matter) to sync. Google Sync is no longer an option. I am not too worried about contacts, as they have all been uploaded etc... how I can sync my calendar with google calendar, or with my phone calendar?

An automated scheduling system frequently sends me vCalendar attachments which I used to be able to open and automatically add to my calendar on my WinMo 6.1 phone. I've recently become an Android convert (myTouch 3g) and would like this same data loaded into my google calendar. I share my Google calendar with others, so using a proprietary calendar system isn't much of an option. I'm a programmer, but not on mobile platforms. If the software doesn't exist, I can probably code it up pretty quickly if someone points me in the right direction... ie how to programatically add to a google calendar.

I converted from Blackberry when the EVO first launched and have never been happier! But, my wifey and a few friends are stuck in BB land (but that's another story) and we use their calendar feature of inviting attendees A LOT! They are able to invite me to calendar events via email, but I can't seem to accept and/or import the event onto my calendar. I recall doing it when I first got my Evo when testing it with the wifey, but for some reason can not do it now.

This is truly a beginner's question. I installed and successfully ran the notepad
tutorials Note pad v1,2,3 and typed in a few notes. Can i import data (manually )from an
external text file into the sq lite dbs? I looked in my Notepad workspace folders
but no dbs seem to have been created? I looked for anything with .db extension or
named 'data' as specified in the code.

I currently have a free application on the market and I'd like to offer a paid version of it as well. Once the paid version is installed, I want to import the db and shared preferences from the free version so users can un install it without losing anything. The problem is this: in my free version, I don't have a android:shared UserId set. If I add one, the app's id on the system changes and I can't access the data anymore. Both apps will be signed using the same certificate. How can I import the data without messing up the permissions of the free app?

My application may consist og 100Kb code and 800 Kb Database content. If I include a datafile with the 800Kb data and import it into an SQLite database under the initial run of the applcation, I cannot delete the data file afterwards and my application will take up 800 Kb unnecessarily. Is there a better way to include/import my data....? (I want my application to not depend on being online after download - so the data should be downloaded with the application.

FYI for other users that are switching to a G1: Basically I am huge user of Outlook 2007 & the rest of the MS Office family. I have/had a T-Mobile Dash and I love it but its time to move on The 2 biggest deals breakers for me was no tethering (sp?) with my laptop and no sync for outlook (basically for calender as contacts get less updating and go directly on the phone) Tether- hopefully someone will make it work (come on, I got the internet on my Dash for 5.99 with just 2 proxy settings) Well back to the point
There are a couple of ways to get your contacts to your G1. I tried downloading the Wrike program and guess what, it does not work because I don't have Exchange Server 2007 yet maybe 90% of this site doesn't either I tried exporting my Outlook contacts into a CSV file then importing them into my Google contacts but some names did not come up properly, so that did not work.............

I tried gsyncit, google calendar sync and they always miss 20% of my entries. I have 10 years worth of important calendar entries (about 20000). And I know the reason why they miss it because there are sometimes server issues and when Google thinks your spamming, they block you. So I want to directly offline sync from my outlook. No way to directly sync from Outlook calendar? No 3rd party sync software works 100%.

I am currently using Google Calendar on my desktop to sync with Outlook, strictly as a "backup" for my Outlook calendar, in case something were to happen and I needed a backup of my Outlook Calendar. I tried using Google Sync/Calendar on my Droid Incredible but had some problems and decided to go back to using HTC sync. Since that time, I have hard reset my phone but am now having problems with some appts showing up in duplicate on my Outlook calendar, My Google calendar and on my phone.
Even though I am only using HTC Sync on my phone and only using Google Calendar/Sync on my desktop, could this be the reason for these duplicates in all 3 places? Do I need to stop using Google calendar/Google sync with my Outlook to prevent this from happening further? Also, the only reason I stopped using Google Calendar for my Droid was that it seems you cannot keep more than a month or so worth of past appt's in your calendar and I need to go back at least a year for work. Does anyone else find this limitation or anything else about Google Calendar annoying and limiting?

I just picked up the Droid and I've been messing with the Calendar and I found out that you can sync your Outlook calendar to your Gmail Calendar, which will sync to the Droid. So, when I installed the Google Calendar Sync app, it synced my Calendar items fine, but when those same items get synced to the phone, something gets screwy and it adds some of my repeating items every day of the month. I think I've narrowed it down to the Calendar items that Recur every xth (15th, 30th, etc) of every month. I don't find that option in the Android's calendar, so is it possible that this option does not exist? Anyone else have this issue?

I have an HTC Incredible on Verison running Android 2.1. With the Blackberry (NOT Exchange), I was easily able to sync contacts, calendar, Tasks, and notes with my BB. I cannot seem to do this with the Incredible.
I actually found an HTC Sync program on my phone which I installed and was able to sync the calendar and contacts once, but I have been unable to do so again. I have not found any snyc for notes or tasks. This seems like such a standard need that I cannot understand why it is not a basic ability on this awesome phone.
Anyway, I need to be able to sync my contacts, calendar, tasks and notes AND I would like to be able to backup my phone to my PC.
