Sep 27, 2010I have an app which stores some files on the SD Card. After several uninstall and install, sometimes, the files just got deleted. Is that normal for android os to do that? What should I do to make sure that those files won't be deleted automatically?

Jul 24, 2010I have an application which resides on the phone memory but downloads large data to the SD card on first launch (the app needs to be able to work without an internet connection most of the time) When using the recommend directory given in Froyo it seems all files on the SD card are deleted when I install a newer version of the .apk. I'd preferably like the files removed on uninstall, but not on upgrade since the files on the SD card aren't going to change between application versions, and forcing the user to re-download a large file that is independent of the application version does not seem reasonable. At the moment it seems I'm forced to use a different directory to the recommended one in order to stop Froyo deleting all the files when the application is upgraded. Am I doing something wrong, or is this how it is supposed to work (I'm guessing it is)?

The idiot part comes from me getting all gitty about the 2.1 v3 update, not thinking about the pictures and videos that I didn't back up (my music and ROMs already were backed up) and deleting my SD card purposely to get rid of all the old, unneccesary files and folders. Anyways, is there anyway to get these old files back? I've seen another post about a file recovery program but it wasn't very specific.

Dec 6, 2013I have xprivacy installed and even when I uncheck all options for Google maps and try to find my current location with it, the gps sign flashes in the notification area but never gets a fix on my location. My question is simple:
I think I may have accidentally deleted some GPS files from my phone /device location. How do I check or what files do I look for in particular (and their location precisely) to make sure that I deleted my files and its not an issue in some other place before I go reporting a bud to the developer.
And where exactly are the GPS driver/files located in the phone?
Motorola Droid :: Backup / Restore / Get My Files Restore?
Mar 7, 2010I Installed Smoked Glass V5.0 from V4.5. I ended up doing it twice, and to make a long story short I lost my files in AK Notebook.
Here's my question:
1. Should I backup my current configuration
2. Then "Restore" my backup prior to upgrade
3. Grab my files (hoping they will be there) toss them on my mac
4. Then just "Restore" back to where I am now?
Need those files by tomorrow, any assistance is much appreciated. It's not that it's an emergency without them, but I will have to do some legwork to gather that info again.

Jun 11, 20122 days ago I tried to update my aunts sensation xl and told her that it is better to update its ROM from 2.3.5 to 4.0.3. So i created a google account in phone and added it in order to sync contacts....and after 2 hours, I thought that it has been synced...After upgrading device to ICS, and adding the previous account that i made before upgrading, I was waiting for contacts to restore, but nothing happend.. I opened the gmail account on PC and saw that there was no contacts. So the only way for me to restore the contacts is to find a way to restore them from Phone device. So,is there any software, either on phone or PC, to restore contacts from phone? or is there a way to have access to root folders and files of phone on PC to use a recovery program to restore "Contacts.db" file that was erased while flashing ICS?

Apr 20, 2014i think i deleted the wrong files and now my phone won't go back the "HTC ONE" screen. I've done the process of a recovery and then allow the red triangle to come up, from there i know i should hold power + Up, and that should take me to a black screen with blue letters, and i should select something about "partition" but this black and blue screen, i remember seeing it as a thumbnail in a folder i deleted. I thought it was an ad photo saved onto my phone as spam (as the folder was named adSOMETHING) and so i deleted it and now, i feel i have have screwed myself over. I have no way of getting another phone right now. How can i get my laptop to read my phones connection and allow me to copy and paste the files needed to get it running again?

Feb 9, 2014I own the g2 vs980. I am running malladus. I had a nandroid backup of cleanrom. In an effort to free up space late last night I opened cwm app and deleted my backup if clean rom. I would like to recover it. I know of tools like diskdigger apk, but I don't know if it will recognize the format since (I believe) inside the backup file folder there are many files that comprise the nandroid backup. I did not do any factory resets since the delete. I know the files should still be there. I have done very little on the phone so the data should still be intact... for now. Xoom WiFi

Mar 31, 2013I restored my Nexus 7 and re-synced it with my Google account. But somehow all the bookmarks in the desktop Chrome have disappeared. But the weird thing is the folders still remain. And on my tablet all the bookmarks that are now missing are in the mobile bookmarks section (not in any folder though, all just plopped in there).
How can I revert them all back to there folders?

I've run Hexamob Recovery PRO from Android Market in my smartphone and it recovered very good some deleted files from my vfat storage folders (both internal and external sd card).
But the smartphone version is not running correctly in my Motorola Xoom because it don't detect internal storage (fuse). I asked to developers about a tablet version and they said me they are working in a tablet version but fuse file system is very hard to manage. Mar 19, 2009I wrote an app that downloads web sites and all their assets (images/stylesheets) to "disk" and therefore stores lots of small files on the SD card.
Sometimes it fails to delete large amounts of files and afterward the file system is r/o. To analyze that behavior I tried to do the removal of the files by hand and then go from there. But that already failed.

There were 6.500 files in that directory. Might that be the problem? I don't access the files with queries, I always have the exact name.

Oct 14, 2010Was thinking about upgrading my stock 2gb card to a 16 or 32 soon. So I have a few questions.
1)Since my Dinc is rooted, will I have to copy anything to the new card after formatting it, or should my phone remain unaffected?
2) I know there is class 2, 4, and 6, with each having faster read/write speeds and being quite a bit more. Will those speeds really make much difference when being used in my phone for backups, random files, apps, and music or videos?
3) Can I copy my sd card files to my phone's internal memory and transfer them that way? Or do I need to transfer them through my computer?

General :: Deleted WiFi Configuration Files
Apr 13, 2014Attempting to change my MAC address I deleted 4 files whose name where WIFI.... something. Right after that My wifi went down and the phone is no longer WIFI capable. I know that I was surfing ROOT file system but instead of copying I clicked delete.
My phone is a chinese model running 4.2.2. What i did was using Xroot file searched for WIFI and selected those files to delete. SO my guess is that I deleted not only my MAC address but also other configuration files.
