I've been using an 8gig card for a while, but in order to watch a few movies over the weekend (going to my parents) I stuck a few .mtk files on the 4 gig card that came with the phone, the object being to transfer to the laptop once I got to my parents. unfortunately the phone wont boot with the 4gb card inserted, just trying the 8gig one again now.

Well i accidently deleted all the contents of my 4gig micro sd card that came with my htc desire mobile.
all pre-installed folders that were on there are all gone.
What files can actually be deleted from an SD card through the file manager? It appears that there is a lot of garbage on there but was hesitant to start deleting what I think is useless as it may serve some function.

The idiot part comes from me getting all gitty about the 2.1 v3 update, not thinking about the pictures and videos that I didn't back up (my music and ROMs already were backed up) and deleting my SD card purposely to get rid of all the old, unneccesary files and folders. Anyways, is there anyway to get these old files back? I've seen another post about a file recovery program but it wasn't very specific.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have an application which resides on the phone memory but downloads large data to the SD card on first launch (the app needs to be able to work without an internet connection most of the time) When using the recommend directory given in Froyo it seems all files on the SD card are deleted when I install a newer version of the .apk. I'd preferably like the files removed on uninstall, but not on upgrade since the files on the SD card aren't going to change between application versions, and forcing the user to re-download a large file that is independent of the application version does not seem reasonable. At the moment it seems I'm forced to use a different directory to the recommended one in order to stop Froyo deleting all the files when the application is upgraded. Am I doing something wrong, or is this how it is supposed to work (I'm guessing it is)?

Do we need them?
But are photos and videos taken on the phone stored on the SD card by default? I can't see any properties options to see where my files are stored.

Is there a way to make the available? As I am toying with many icon sets and generally playing, it's annoying having to reset the phone everytime to see anything.

View 4 Replies View RelatedJust been making some icons for my Desire, and I've noticed that I seem to have lost LOADS of my photo's, and icons on my SD Card.
All I've been doing is swapping the Card from Drive to Charge so I xcan try out the icons I've been making, and using the 3D Gallery to set/view them. I noticed that every time I opened 3D Gallery, the image, and folder count was getting less, and less. For example, my family photos of my son have gone from almost 100 images to just 7. Pissed off isn't the word.
Okay so i copied the files back from my PC to my SD card, and they're there now.
However.....
I use Turtle Photoframe as my Homepage photo widget, and it's STILL only showing the files that were'nt deleted. EVEN after I removed the widget, and set it. I also cleared all the caches, but it's still ONLY showing the few files that didn't vanish.
I want to create a settings file for my app which I store in the internal memory. I am wondering if this file will be deleted when the user updates the app to a newer version.

Attempting to change my MAC address I deleted 4 files whose name where WIFI.... something. Right after that My wifi went down and the phone is no longer WIFI capable. I know that I was surfing ROOT file system but instead of copying I clicked delete.
My phone is a chinese model running 4.2.2. What i did was using Xroot file searched for WIFI and selected those files to delete. SO my guess is that I deleted not only my MAC address but also other configuration files.

I purchased an unlocked and unbranded Samsung Galaxy S i9000 from Amazon.
After playing around with it for some time, installing all sorts and getting to know how to use it I decided I would perform a factory reset to "clean" it before continuing to use it "properly".
Before performing the factory reset I navigated to "My Files", selected delete, then selected every single folder and file and deleted them.
I then performed the factory reset.
Now I am missing 4 images which were available as wallpaper in "gallery" and probably several other files/folders.
I thought the factory reset would return the phone to its original state and reproduce any folders/files I may have deleted in the process. I thought they might be stored in a hidden "partition" or similar which I had no access to.
Anyway my questions are how can I restore my phone to its original state and which other files/folders would have been present initially but have now been deleted by me?
I recently rooted my droid eris and installed the sense-able2.0 custom rom. I was just wondering if I could delete the zip files out of the root directory after they are installed?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThere were a bunch of videos on my phone's internal memory (21 to be exact). I connected the phone to a PC so I could copy the videos off the phone and when it synced the two drives (internal and SD), it only showed 3 out of the 21 videos I had. I searched on the drive for *.3gp videos and it still only showed those 3. When I removed the phone from the PC and looked in my videos on the phone the extra 18 videos were no longer there. I also performed a search on the phone using Astro and again it only found the 3 videos.
It is as if they have been deleted somehow? Any idea how to get them back?
I thought i was messaging myself some videos of my 3 year old, but apparently they did not attach to the messages i was emailing myself... I deleted them... Does anyone know of a way to recover deleted video files?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm on a S4 (I9505) phone and a lot of media files and also nandroid files are disappering from the sdcard (SDXC 64Gb). Yes, deleted. Most probably mounting and unmounting the sdcard, or rebooting, are removing the nandroid and media files.
I've used both TWRP and Phip recoveries. They work only if I unmount the storage card and reboot. Otherwise, in the first reboot, file are gone. Some users here in xda say we need to use short backup names. But it did not work for me.
Maybe it should be solved by the ROM side. But I'm not lucky and not finding a way to get a solution, not even using different kernel versions. Changing the WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission suggested in many sites does not solve the issue [URL] ..... New ROMs seems to have incorporated this solution, but the problem is still there.
I also not being able to change the permissions for the mnt folder as suggested elsewhere here in xda. The operation (even my phone rooted with SuperSu) is not successful.
External SDcard is useless if we cannot trust on it.
I need to recover deleted files from my Android Tablet internal storage folder ( /mnt/sdcard ). This is mounted like a fuse filesystem. I've run Hexamob Recovery PRO from Android Market in my smartphone and it recovered very good some deleted files from my vfat storage folders (both internal and external sd card).
But the smartphone version is not running correctly in my Motorola Xoom because it don't detect internal storage (fuse). I asked to developers about a tablet version and they said me they are working in a tablet version but fuse file system is very hard to manage. Any other app to recover my deleted files from a fuse file system?
I have xprivacy installed and even when I uncheck all options for Google maps and try to find my current location with it, the gps sign flashes in the notification area but never gets a fix on my location. My question is simple:
I think I may have accidentally deleted some GPS files from my phone /device location. How do I check or what files do I look for in particular (and their location precisely) to make sure that I deleted my files and its not an issue in some other place before I go reporting a bud to the developer.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI wrote an app that downloads web sites and all their assets (images/stylesheets) to "disk" and therefore stores lots of small files on the SD card.
Sometimes it fails to delete large amounts of files and afterward the file system is r/o. To analyze that behavior I tried to do the removal of the files by hand and then go from there. But that already failed.

There were 6.500 files in that directory. Might that be the problem? I don't access the files with queries, I always have the exact name.
