I have several USB-MicroUSB cables (some OEM Motorola, some other brands), several 12 volt-USB converters, several cars, and several devices that accept MicroUSB connection for power. With everything other than my Droid (including a Blackberry and a GPS unit) every combination of cable and 12volt converter works. With the Droid, all of the combinations will turn on the screen (indicating the Droid knows a cable has been connected), but only a few combinations will actually charge the Droid. The only possible explanation I have come up with for this is that the Droid has some sort of minimum current requirement, and that some converter/car/cable combinations are unable to meet this requirement. So, what is the minimum voltage and current that will allow the Droid to charge?

I am curious about the data types that AIDL can support.
The document ( http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/tools/aidl.html ) says, AIDL can support String, List, Map, etc. But to me, the Map seems that it is not the member of them.
Here is my code.......................

Music101 question: Im new to Android and I have a CLIQ.
I just copyied music files from my Windows-based pc the they all copied with no problem. The issue is when I go to play the music I have to force close the app repeatedly then I get an error message saying "sorry player does not support this type of audio file".
Is there an app available to convert files or did I mess up the path in someway that the songs, all mp3's btw, just aren't being located properly?

Has anyone else had this issue while trying to play MP3's through the Music player? I downloaded this album the other day (legally of course), the first track plays fine but the rest of them just throw up this error.
"Sorry, the player does not support this type of audio file"
The tracks play fine in media player so I'm a little stumped.

I am getting the following error when I try to play some song using the standard "Music" App: "sorry, the player does not support this type of audio file" So far I have only had this happen on .ogg files. I can play some .ogg files with no problem but other will not play. Often there is one I can play and one I can't from the same album which I ripped from my CD in the same ripping session so the encoding parameters should be the same. Another weird thing is that I sometime can succeed in playing a song by finding it in OI File Manager and selecting it there. OI File Manager opens in in the "Music" App and it plays not problem, but I cannot open it from within "Music" App!

I understand that SQLite stores dates as long integers. When I read rows using the standard method (i.e. using the query() method that reads data into a cursor), the result is a date string that includes the time:2010-05-25 19:52:04..If I want a different format, I have to parse the string back into a date - possible, but a bit backwards.By using a ViewBinder (as suggested in this question), I can pretty much do anything I want, but the date is already a string at the time the overridden method executes. The accepted answer to the above question also suggests that storing dates as longs would help avoid this problem. I don't want to do that, just in case I want to interpret my data with something else than this application. Maybe I want to expose it via a provider.

Are there any requirements for flashing the i7500 to galaxo? Cause I can't use the recovery (any version) to flash the galaxo to my phone. Recovery hasn't any response on operations wipe, flash, rooting, fixing permission etc.Anyway, I found I can do fixing permission with adb command to execute the script "fix_permissions.sh" in the /tmp/RECTOOLS in recovery mode.Unfortunately, fixing the permission can not help for the wiping and flashing operations. the operations don't work also.I have also tried to flash by using "flash_image" command in /tmp/RECTOOLS, but I can't identify the flashing partition, the following is the result of df command.

I recently posted this question on stackoverflow (http://tinyurl.com/ yzrofne), but maybe someone here can help me. I am using the location manager's requestLocationUpdates() method to receive an intent to my broadcast receiver periodically. The system is correctly firing the intent to my broadcast receiver, and I have been able to use it correctly. The only problem is that the GPS location provider only stays active for a few seconds after the initial location acquisition, and I need it to stay on a little longer so that the location estimates are more accurate. For example, if I tell the location manager that I want an update every 5 minutes, it correctly fires the intent with location information from the GPS. However, the GPS only stays active for about 5 seconds, so it doesn't give much time for the location to reach a high accuracy (say, less than 10-20 meters). My question is how to make the GPS location provider stay active for each periodic request that comes from the LocationManager requestLocationUpdates. Does anyone know how to do this?

Several recent applications (e.g. Shazam) have text and image ads which are handled by Google. I can't seem to find how they did this. Is there some new API that you can use to display ads given some key, similar to how the maps API works? Or is this something that developers individually negotiate?

Every time someone leaves me a voicemail on my home phone number, VOIP home phone voice mail box sends me the voicemail as a .wav file attachment. When I try to play this .wav file the phone refuses, saying "Sorry, the player does not support this type of audio file".
So, I take it the .wav files cannot be played on Android phones. Has anyone found a workable and simple workaround to this yet?

I use Android emulator to test my location based application. The cordinates are provided by geo fix command (for example: geo fix 2.31278 48.9533 10). But when the new location event is fired, the cordinates are not the same as those in the command: I got latitude = 48.95800053333334, longitude = 2.3033544999999997 (I use Location.getLatitude() and Location.getLongitude() methods). Does anyone have an idea of my trouble ?

In my desperation with trying to get LiveFolders working, I have tried the following in my LiveFolder ContentProvider:Which, in all normalness, should launch the Browser and display the Google homepage when clicking on an item in the LiveFolder. But it doesn't. It gives a Application is not installed on your phone error. No, I'm not defining a base intent for my LiveFolder.logcat says:I/ActivityManager( 74): Starting activity: Intent { act=android.intent.action.VIEW dat=Intent { act=android.intent.action.VIEW dat=http://www.google.com/ } flg=0x10000000 }It seems it embeds the Intent I give it in the data section of the actually fired Intent. Why is it doing this? I'm really starting to believe it's a platform bug.update: I have filed an issue and removed the LiveFolders feature. I will include it in my app when I'll get a response either here or there that clarifies this thing. If I get the time I think I'll upload a demo app to that issue. Update: I have received a notification that the bounty is expiring in 3 days. No one wants it? Update 04/25/2010: I have updated the issue on the Android project and uploaded a test application. It would be nice if someone could test this application on a device, maybe it's such a subtle problem that it only appears on the emulator.

I have been googling for a couple days now searching for a sortable list widget similar to the one provided by stock android music app. What I would like is ability to sort a list similar to how you can sort your music playlist. I am coming to the conclusion that I am obviously not using the proper keyword to find my answer.

Okay, we have many little things going around so I'm going to try and consolidate for everybody. With my phone having hardware issues I've practically got this memorized now. These are basic steps, if you do not know how to flash a file you need to do a little more reading before you follow this. I take no responsibility for your actions, they are yours! If you destroy your phone, I cannot help you. Most of the links I provided have instructions on them. If they are just downloads, it assumes you know how to use the file provided.

My current situation is that I have a phone with 2 camera apps on it, stock and camera FV-5.
Camera FV-5 is slower than the stock camera, so I only use it in situations which I need manual control.
Whenever I open whatsapp and try to send a photo, the app asks me which camera I want to use, with no option to always use stock. I don't want camera FV-5 to exist as an option, as I will open it if I want to use it.
Is there a way to remove an app from the list so that my phone does not recognise camera FV-5 as a camera?
