Android :: Replacement Battery - MotoDroid

Aug 16, 2010

Hey all. Although not a problem now, I use my Moto Droid extensively during the day and I can see a *slight* decrease in battery life (I've had it for approximately 6 months now). If my past experiences with heavy battery usage continue into this phone, then I expect to have a very tired battery in about 8 months.

Seeing how quickly android-based phones are phased out and lose their "king of the hill" status, I would like to be able to buy a replacement before it becomes difficult to find.

SO, my question is where is it possible to purchase authentic Moto Droid batteries (preferably for less than 45 dollars a piece if at all possible).

My question is how bad is bad enough to get a replacement? Is there anyway I can get a new phone out of them and not just a new battery?

HTC Droid Eris :: OEM Battery Door Replacement?

Dec 16, 2009

Well, it was bound to happen. Dropped my Eris getting out of the car last night. Sitting on my lap, forgot about it, stood up, and heard it hit the pavement. The battery door got some scratches, luckily nothing else happened.
Does anyone know any sites that are selling OEM battery replacement doors? I might try to go to Verizon today and see if they have one, (highly doubt it) because these scratches are killing me.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Replacement Of Battery Cover

Dec 29, 2009

At complete fault of my own in a move I should have known better than to do, my phone decided to hang out for a few minutes on the bottom of my oven, face up, while it was on at 375F. The phone is actually surprisingly great - everything still works, makes calls, cam and rear speaker seem unaffected - but the back battery cover is messed up now. Because I'm optimistic and dumb, I went to Sprint to see if I could get a replacement door from them. No go. Then I checked HTC's website, and they don't seem to sell anything for this phone at all (exaggeration). Ultimately I plan to wrap my Hero in one of those jelly cases, but I already own one and I'm away on vacation and refuse to by another. Still, despite being wrapped up incognito, I'll be secretly bothered by my less-than-perfect phone, so I really want to order another one.

I have the adv app killer on there, i turn off bluetooth when not in use, brightness is as low as it will go, no hectic feedback, gps off and yet i still know that by the time i get home unless i charge it in the car, i won't be able to use my phone after work. so, i'd like your guys thoughts on whether it would be worth it to take back to the at&t store and swap it out for a new one?

Android :: Cannot Save A .jpg Using Email App On MotoDroid

Jan 18, 2010

I have the Motorola Droid on the Verizon Wireless network. It's doing great however I can't find a decent Email app that I can also use as a widget. So I'm stuck with the default Email app on the phone.

I use it to send pictures to myself. However I can view the attached picture but when I try and save it:

"Sorry! The application Email (processcom.android.email) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."

I try and try and the same. I have not tried using the Gmail app though.

HTC Hero :: Color Difference In Battery Cover Replacement?

Nov 16, 2009

I'm using a black htc hero and it got scratched recently. I'm thinking about getting a replacement cover but I've been told that the only ones available immediately are "urban brown covers" which I presume to be mocha covers. I've yet to see a mocha hero (other than in pics online) so I don't know if my hero will look weird with a mocha battery case. Is the color difference very obvious?

Motorola Droid :: Battery Status Replacement Application - More Accurate?

Dec 10, 2009

The battery status is horrible. Why does it look like it's at 50% when at 30%? I downloaded an app that puts the percentage in the status bar, but it's at the top left in notifications. Is there an app that replaces the current icon with one with a percentage or, at least, is more accurate? I doubt there is. I didn't find anything on Marketplace or through search.

Samsung I7500 : Replacement Housing For My Galaxy - Battery Cover Scratched Up?

Apr 14, 2010

Any idea where I can buy a replacement housing for my Galaxy. Works fine but an accident had left it scratched up and missing the charger port cover. So basically I want to fit a whole new shell on the thing. Screen is scratch-free, but battery cover scratched up and the bit of plastic holding the charger flap snapped so it will need a whole shell. Looked everywhere! An online Samsung repair place wants me to send it in but can't give me a price.

HTC Incredible :: Vzw Emp. Says MotoDroid Is Better Than DInc

May 31, 2010

She wouldn't listen or budge at all either. Biggest thing she said was she gets less bars on it(along with all other HTC's) Tried to tell her about looking at the signal instead of bars, and how I was reading it doesn't show full signal when not in use to save the battery or whatever. But noooo... the moto is still better hands down..

Got frustrated and left cause there were no Inc's in stock anyways, and she kept trying to sell me on the moto, even though I said I don't want it.

Have checked all the best buys, and Vzw stores around me. Closest one with them in stock is in Alabama-- 109 miles away.
Now I just cant decide if I should wait to see if one of the places get them in stock soon (people are saying some BB's are still getting them in.) or just bite the bullet and order it online.

HTC Incredible :: Forced Install Of Froyo On Unrooted Motodroid?

Aug 24, 2010

Why does the Inc have to be rooted in order to install Froyo? My Motodroid1 was able to install a leaked Froyo without having to root. Is there something more difficult in the software that the Inc uses or is it the actual leaked versions were never designed for an Incredible or what? I really don't understand why we seem to be lagging the Motodroid community in being able to install this. I'm sure someone has a perfectly good explanation and I obviously don't have a clue. I am a newbie with the Inc and I did love my Droid1 until it got run over and no replacements were available. I have to say that so far I am not that impressed with my Incredible. It's slimmer, I rarely used the slide out keyboard on the Droid 1-so I don't miss that, a few things seem to respond a little quicker, but overall I liked my old Droid1 better. The 2.2 I forced on the Droid was a huge improvement over 2.1. The 3d gallery glitches were gone, the mass updates were great, camera worked super. Battery life was always excellent, pics were clear, no dropped calls, always had a signal. Output volume to headphones was a little weak on a motorcycle but I solved that with a nice little pocket amp. I don't mean to knock our phones but... I never had to worry about battery life, poor signal strength, etc. And I miss the 3D gallery after the fix but I did find a thread here to help me install it in the Inc. When 2.2 gets here it should be a nice improvement but I wish battery life wasn't an issue and signal strength was better. I don't feel like spending some pretty good change for a high output battery.

Android :: Looking For A Replacement For PalmOS

Dec 17, 2009

I've been using a PalmOS device since the USR Palm Professional, including TRG Pro and Handera 330. I've gone back to a Z22 since my TX died in under a year and Palm refused to honor the warranty because my wife bought it as a gift. The Z22 will be my last PalmOS device, even if I have to go back to paper, I have well defined requirements:I have no interest at this time in a data plan; just want to use it offline and by wifi. My hot buttons are robust calendar (DateBk3 user for the last decade), robust addressbook (the HTC one is a joke and the Motorola ones can't be previewed on the non-function store displays), java-equipped browser to support local TiddlyWiki files, and sync data to Linux (PCLOS) for backup. The ability to migrate data from the Palm would be a big plus.I have not bought a device yet since the electronics dealers in my area (USA-MD) won't sell you one without the data plan. I don't care whether it is also used for a phone - irrelevant to me. There are going to be 50 hours a week when it will sit in my car in the parking lot (alongside laptop, mp3 player, camera and phone) since those are banned from my employer's buildings.I tried to look at the Archos device, but the store unit didn't work. I'd appreciate both hardware and software recommendations. You can't see alternative apps in the Marketplace unless you first have a device - and I won't buy hardware without first knowing what software is available. They don't make it easy!

Android :: Looking For Few Replacement Applications If Exist?

Aug 7, 2010

I already have a home replacement app (tried out a few and settled on ADWlauncher for the time being.) I'm wondering if there's an app that (in a similar way to a home replacement) would replace the actual calls function of the phone, I find the 'slide to answer' very annoying as I often miss it - and navigating the call log and contacts list from within the default phone app is very annoying. Is there anything like that? Also is it possible to change the colour of the notification bar? I'd prefer if it was dark blue (or at least a darker colour) to fit in with the theme for the rest of my phone. (On the Moto Milestone 2.1 if this makes any difference)

Android :: How To Do Phone DateFormat Replacement?

May 3, 2010

I need to split a date string into pieces and I'm doing it using the public final StringBuffer format (Object object, StringBuffer buffer, FieldPosition field) from the java.text.DateFormat class. However, the implementation of this function is really slow, hence Android has an own implementation in android.text.format.DateFormat. BUT, in my case, I want to extract the different pieces of the date string (year, minute and so on). Since I need to be locale independent, I can not use SimpleDateFormat and custom strings. I do it as follows: Code...
For some reason, the format() overload with the FieldPosition argument is not included in the android platform. Any ideas of how to do this in another way? Is there any easy way to tokenize the pattern string? Any other ideas?
