Is it possible to override "system" transitions such as desktop->activity, activity->dialog, etc?
I'm trying to create a transparent (no button background) ImageButton that has a custom selector. I have the selector working against the button but I now want the selector drawables to cross-fade into each other.
I saw the TransitionDrawable object that can be represented in XML. Is there a way to connect this into my selector?
Below is the XML layout code to create the image button on the screen in the lower left corner of the screen. It currently goes from one image to the next abruptly ignoring the transition XML.

In android 1.5 release notes I saw Animated window transitions.
What is this all about ?
IN my application i want to show trasitions if i go from one activity to other. We can set the animation for both activities and call when one is closing and other is opening.
But problem is when , the current animation will stop when the onCreate of next activity is called ?
Means , when activity is pushed to stack , ongoing animation is stopped. Because of this we cannot show a smooth transition effect between activities.
Is it possible to disabled activity transitions altogether and still maintain compatible with 1.5 ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedLong story short, how can I disable the screen transitions between activities? We implemented our own tab handler if you will, and now it is doing a transition between tabs, which looks pretty tacky.

How to do this?
On iPhone, Mobile Safari is WebKit based and supports hardware-accelerated -webkit-transform CSS properties. To be specific, I use the translate3d() transform.
What alternative is there for the Android browser? I need it to work on Android 1.5.
I have stock gingerbread launcher and I wanna faster homescreen transitions, and faster entering in app drawer and also how to change icon pressed/focused color on homescreen and in app drawer (I wanna that invisible). I know decompile but don't know where and what to modify.

I currently run a Nexus 4 (Jelly Bean, CM10.1 Linaro) with a modified framework-res.apk file with ICS transitions.I know how to create animations (I am an android developer) but wouldn't it be cool to implement them on our system? In the anims folder of framework-res.apk you find all of these xmls containing different animations
Code:
accelerate_quad.xml
accelerate_quint.xml
activity_close_enter.xml[code].....
Some of them are pretty obvious (toast_enter.xml for example) but i dont really know which one does what.
I'm a little confused by what I'm seeing with regards to phone state transitions via the PhoneStateListener. When I receive a call, this is what happens: (call comes in) RINGING -> IDLE (I pick up) OFFHOOK (I hang up) IDLE It's that first transition from RINGING to IDLE without any interaction from me (not ending the call, not answering the call) that confuses me. Do I really have to implement an idle counter to know that an incoming call has really ended? Seems like the reported phone state represents some sort of phone state that isn't the obvious one.Is this a bug or am I just not in tune with the paradigm here?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to disable or override the car dock app? I want the application that I am writing to be able to launch when the device is placed into the car dock. I have created a BroadcastReceiver for my app but the standard car dock app displays, not my app. I know that my broadcast receiver is working because when I click the back button on the device from the car dock app it shows my app. How do I get it to not show the car dock app? There is no listing for the car dock app in the list of installed apps on the phone. The only solution I have found on the web is to root your phone and change the .apk file name. I can't expect my users to do that.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've made a little test component that overrides ImageView, called myImageView, and prints some text and an arrayList of Doubles over whatever image is specified in the related xml. However, right now, the text and Doubles that are drawn over the image are defined within the myImageView class. Is there a way to pass the data from the main onCreate function to the myImageView class before the layout is drawn?
I'm new to OO programming, but based on my understanding of this:
http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/ui/custom-components.html
It's possible because ImageView is just like any other class. This leaves me with two initial guesses:
1. I could generate my test data in the main onCreate, and store it in the array's xml file, and then read that xml file with myImageView,
OR
2. I could extend view instead of ImageView, but because of my new- ness, then I would lose the ability to use it in an xml layout sense - and that's what I really want.
I've got an AVD setup with an SD card, but I wanted to specify a different SD card image by setting a -sdcard option in Eclipse under Preferences -> Android -> Launch (I fill in "-sdcard C:sdcards sdcard96M.img" without the double quotes). But it seems no matter what I do, I always get the SD card that was created with the AVD. From the command line, the following works: emulator -avd myAVD -sdcard C:sdcardssdcard96M.img Do I need to use the command line instead of Eclipse to run this way?

I have an ArrayAdapter wrapped around an ArrayList of custom objects. I'd like to write a custom filter for that adapter so that when I call getListAdapter().getFilter().filter("abc") the list will get filtered by an arbitrary transformation of "abc".
I thought I would just try to override ArrayAdapter.getFilter(), but that requires I re-implement the private ArrayAdapter.ArrayFilter which requires access to a bunch of ArrayAdapter's private instances.
What's the simplest way to do this?
I'm trying to override the default icons of an BaseExpandableListAdapter in a class which inherits from BaseExpandableListAdapter. What would be a decent way of doing this? Such a basic thing doesn't seem to be straightforward.
