I am developing for the Android. When I create icons in Photoshop (and convert them to PNG), they appear larger and stretched within my Android application. The emulator that I am using is medium density. Does anyone have some tips for how I can create my icons in Photoshop so that they appear normally on the Android?

In addition, ideally, there would be many tutorials for that version, so I can learn quickly.I see multiple versions of photoshop; is there a minimum version anyone can recommend which will provide suitable functionality to make basic icons etc?

Android:background doesn't seem to be the right property, the radio button image gets stretched and placed in the background of the radio button itself and its label.
Is there a way to specify that a drawable should only be repeated vertically and then stretched horizontally? At the moment I use the following which repeats the drawable both in the vertical and horizontal direction code...

I looked on the adobe site to see I could download it from the website onto my computer as I have done for some other apps that are not in the market. Not there they just direct to the android market.I then found the adobe android app forum and asked about it saying that I wanted it for the tattoo. I had a reply that it is compatible with tattoo and that I should get it from the android market. I replied to that saying that it was not there and could they get it put in.No response yet and it has been a week. Do I create a background and then layer it with the buttons and then save each layer separately? Do buttons have to be squares or circles or can they be stars for example? View 2 Replies View RelatedI have now TN Shooter Rom on my evo 4g and i've noticed that when i record video on portrait the video playback is stretched out, seems to be fine when i record video holding the phone in landscape.
I've also tried flashing another Rom but the same thing happens.
I made a boot animation. Not great but I am trying. Anyway, I can get it to look right when it is set to the center of the screen (480x427 not full screen) but when I set it to 480x854 (full screen) it gets stretched out. I was told the png files had to be 256x256 so I don't know what I could change so it doesn't look stretched. My animation looks like my avatar that I made and it looks just like it does here before applying the 854 settings. After seeing a lot of other custom boots mine isn't looking so good.

When I browse to the file on the phone and view it through albums, it looks completely fine and crisp, but after i set it to a contact id, and that contact calls me the photo that comes up is all pixelated...
I have tried the on-board cropping using very high res images, as well as creating an image on photoshop with 250x250 resolution @ 72-300dpi

Because I get to edit files, but I am looking for a long time without finding how to put ALL the icons on the left, and keep only the icons on the right as in the picture.
I notice that the home screen is customizable but not the four applications on the bottom, the call, email, browser and applications. How would I change those icons with different icons? Mainly the email and browser. How do I turn off or at least severly limit the data that goes to and from my phone. I do not have wireless and am just a bit paranoid about going over my data limit. I got the phone from work and this is my first smartphone so I am a bit nervous about anything I do on it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm writing a game for a computer class that I'm currently taking for school. The game has a lot of graphics associated with it (mostly in .png format). There is too much data to simply include it as part of the 'res'. The way i'm currently doing it, is to store all of the graphics in a single zip file, in a folder on the SDCard, e.g., / sdcard/Game/PlayerImages.zip (or whatever). And then i'm using the ZipInputStream to read from those, then using the BitmapFactory to decode the stream and then draw them on the canvas. The problem that I'm having is that this method is terribly slow if I add a lot of images into the zip file. The best way I have found thus far is to name the .png files within the zip numerically, then use a for-loop to jump directly to a specific file, but this is still a very slow way of doing it. I would like to use a single file (like zip) to hold all of the files for several reasons. 1., i'm trying to use a file container so i can simply update graphic 4.png and then push it into the zip file (for example) from a server. 2., because android sees all image files on the sdcard when you open the gallery application. 3., easier to prevent data manipulation by doing an md5/sha-1 checksum on 1 zip file, rather than every time a file is opened if it weren't in a container.

All I want to do is display them in a list-view so you can scroll through them.I dare say I will need to lazily load them as you scroll through the list - my question is how and can it be done through a content provider? I noticed the SlowAdapter in the APIDemos that appears to do exactly the kind of thing that I am looking for, but Im unsure of the correct method for requerying the content provider with the new limit criteria (or at all via a ContentProvider). Do I need to create a new cursor and merge it with the previous one as I scroll down?
