I would like to open a custom dialog when someone clicks on a listview entry. That dialog will need to know the text that was clicked on in order to display additional information on that particular entry. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to accomplish that?

I want to create a dialog but I don't want to have any buttons in the dialog, then I hope to dismiss the dialog after I click any item in the dialog, how should I dismiss the dialog ? Set a list of items to be displayed in the dialog as the content, you will be notified of the selected item via the supplied listener. The list will have a check mark displayed to the right of the text for the checked item. Clicking on an item in the list will not dismiss the dialog. Clicking on a button will dismiss the dialog. Parameters items the items to be displayed. Checked Item specifies which item is checked. If -1 no items are checked. Listener notified when an item on the list is clicked. The dialog will not be dismissed when an item is clicked. It will only be dismissed if clicked on a button, if no buttons are supplied it's up to the user to dismiss.

I recently added an activity to one of my apps, and made it the starting activity for the application and published an update. The update worked perfectly with no problems on my N1, but I'm getting emails from users telling me that the only way they can open my app is from their Downloads page in the Android Market app. I have no clue what could be causing this behavior.

My OnItemSelectedListener is not called when a list element is clicked/ touched. (It is called if the list has focus and I move through the list with the arrow keys in the emulator) Is that the way it works? This ListView has an adapter that supplies TextViews for drawing the list elements.

When an item is selected, I want all the invisible objects to appear (selected.setVisibility(1)) - checking first if I have to hide again the previous selection.

When I apply a rotate animation the coordinates that are clicked correspond to the original position of the ListView items. For example a list with one item in portrait mode rotated 180 degrees will have the item upside down on the bottom of the screen, but the item gets the click event when I click the top of the screen. 180 degrees is just an example I want to be able to move an arbitrary angle.
I've looked through all the listView properties but none seem to have any effect on the clickable coordinates. I would assume willChangeTransformationMatrix would do the trick but it doesn't, neither does invalidate or invalidateViews. Is there a property I'm overlooking or how would I go about moving the coordinates to the right place?
sample code- list items highlight correctly when clicked, rotate with dpad_center, after rotated items highlight when original position is clicked. I've tried animating the animation, animationSet, and layoutAnimationController all same result.

I'm dealing with a phone that has no physical keyboard and I'm using my own custom view for rendering. The device I'm working with, by default, seems to be in a T9 type entry mode where it suggests blocks of text. However, it never sends me the actual key events.
How do I tell whatever soft-keyboard that pops up to enter 'dumb' key event sending mode?
The InputMethodManager has a "isAcceptinText()" call which would tell me if it's in event-sending mode, but not a method to set it. Digging through the documentation hasn't produced any insight. How do I tell the input manager that I only want key events?

I'am a little bit confused with separate opengl thread. Currently, my application is logically separated in two parts - the controlling one and the rendering one. The controlling part interracts with user - accepting user input, changing activities, dealing with files and so on. The rendering part - just render everything it should. Ok, so when I need to load new texture to opengl (unfortunatelly its large and I cant reduce its size), I'd like to show a ProgerssDialog dialog. Trying to show it from the open gl thread brings me an exception: "Can't create handler inside thread that has not called Looper.prepare()". Because the initiator of loading is in the ui thread (for example - user selected a menu option), I'am opening the dialog, adding the load Runnable to stack on Runnables that will be called in Render.onDrawFrame and passing there a callback that will be executed after texture is loaded.

Is it possible to use test.setText("something") in this thread to update a Button text or TextView in the LinearLayout after the dialog is dismissed? I try cheating placing:
