I am very new to android and smart phones and would like some advice. I have gone for the Sony X10 with one of the main reasons music and hopefully using it in the car. Can anyone advise me what is the best way (device) to pipe my phones music through the car stereo. I do not have a bluetooth car stereo or and mp3 inlet.

I have a Ministry of sound radio and it has a usb port.I have pluged in the phone via the USB port and started to press buttons to see if this works. Sometimes it did play music from my phone and most other times it said 'Error'. Is there a way to so it play's all the time when connecting? I Don't want to play through a 3.5 jack as USB also charges your phone while playing your music.

I currently have the prior generation of this stereo in my car (don't know my exact model number, but it's basically the same as this deck: Sony stereo.
I connect my iPhone 3G through the usb port and it charges my phone while allowing me to access my library and scroll through artists, playlists, etc through the deck.
I am curious if the Droid Incredible can also do this.
I went into the Verizon store today to try and see if it can work and we had some issues. My deck can access the phone's contents if, when connecting via USB, I have the phone behave as mass storage (the rep was doing it, but said when you connect the phone you have the option to treat the connection as mass storage). So, I could flip through what seemed to be directory folders through the stereo, but I believe I could only access the phone's internal memory. I haven't had an android phone, but I assume mp3's are stored on the microSD. Am I correct in this?
So, is there any way to make the SD accessible through the car stereo so I can play my mp3s while charging my phone through the USB? This is actually a fairly big deal to me as I am in my car a lot and using the phone in this way with my stereo keeps me from having to have 3 different chargers (1 for home, 1 for messenger bag, 1 for car). But, if there's a way to do it, I can get away from the iPhone, and more importantly, ATT.
I know I have the aux input, but I'm only concerned with the USB for its charging properties.
Im thinking about buying an Alpine car stereo with bluetooth support. Will I be able to stream music from my Droid through my car speakers without an aux cable?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a droid razr maxx and have been trying to play musin on my car stereo pioneer deh-p4200ub using a data cable due to the fact that i don't have the bluetooth adapter for my head unit yet. everytime i connect to stereo i get "error 19" displayed on head unit. I've tried using mass storage and mtp to reconize sd card in phone. i found that if ihave the music stored on internal memory of phone it will work but i have 14gb of music on sd card that wont fit on internal storage. is there any setting i can change for this to be compatable?

I have an HTC Evo, recently switched from an iphone. Loaded just a few songs on my Evo to test out the USB to car stereo connection and it works. But I liked the way iphone worked with the stereo better because all the Evo does is show is let me browse through folders like an mp3 CD would. The iphone would let me browse through artists, albums, playlists, genre, etc, etc all from using the controls on my steering wheel. Sooooo, does anybody know of an android app that will make my car stereo browse artists, albums and playlists like it could with iphone. I know its not a big deal but it would be more convenient, probably only advantage my iphone had over Evo.

Galaxy Note 2. Both phone and stereo show that bluetooth is connected. Calls will still go through the stereo, but music won't. The music will play through the phone's speakers, but at a very low volume - lower than what my phone shows. I do not have a volume control app or manager installed. I recently bought a Back Beat stereo bluetooth headset for my HERO. After listening for a few days I got a warning stating that my internal memory was getting low. Soon after that, I could not receive text anymore. I did a hard reset on the phone and the memory was restored, but this is the only way I could get the memory to come back. Is there any way to restore the internal memory without doing a hard reset and loosing everything?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am in celebration so I decided to share my technological milestone. I just had a bluetooth stereo installed in my car. I now play all my music from my Nexus one. I removed all my CDs and put them in storage. The hands free function is excellent! It works far better than my expensive phone system at work.
When I had a bluetooth ear piece it was a drag to use so I gave up. This is nothing like that. I would rather talk with the hands free through the stereo than talk directly on the phone. Music pauses when calls are made or received. Love this thing! Probably there are many people here who are rolling their eyes because they did this ages ago.

The Problem:
The Launcher has a Dock with several system App Shortcuts. The Dock is fix, so i can't delete icons, can't change Icon Order, can't add Icons. No new installed app can add a shortcut to the Dock. Except iGO Primo, it's the only app, that has automaticly add a shortcut to the Dock.
I want delete some shortcuts, cause i don't need them and i want add some shortcuts that i daily need.
My Question is: how can i unlock the Dock that i can change thins? Or modify non system apps to add a shortcut to the dock? Is it possible that the launcher has a app list, which controlls, what app can add a shortcut and what can't? And when a decompile the Launcher in which .smali i can possible find the "permissions"?
Question.. Is there anything out there that allows you to broadcast an incoming call (either an alert tone or a ringtone) over a boat or car stereo? I'm looking for something that, while I'm on our boat listening to music or the engines are running, or both, will do this so I don't miss calls. I know there's something out there to broadcast music from your phone over the stereo and you can take incoming calls, etc.. But I either listen to Sirius or my iPOD and won't be using my phone as a music source.

The dock had a cable that ran in to a DICE module which connected to the factory head-unit and both charged the phone and allowed me to play music through my head-unit ? perfect. I now have an HTC Desire which is a great little phone and I want to set it up similarly to the way I had my iPhone setup.
I've looked at a number of different stereo's and the best solution I can come up with is a phone holder that, when the phone's docked, will charge only. I can then send mp3's via bluetooth A2DP but I'm not sure on the quality of this. Ideally I'd like a USB cable that I can connect the phone to which will charge my phone and send mp3's but so far I've found nothing.
with my current iPhone, I have a car dock from ProClip that has an iPod dock connector on the bottom. This allows me to both charge and get a line-out from the phone by simply sliding it into the holder. I use my iPhone with Pandora as my primary car radio through the Aux input on my stereo. if something like this will be possible with the Evo? It would be nice to only have to connect one cable and be able to get audio and charging at the same time. Bluetooth might be an option but it's kind of ungainly and I'd have to buy some kind of Bluetooth receiver for the stereo.
