Mar 4, 2010
I want to control several devices with adb command "adb -s <serial number>" but the serial number of my devices are all the same, so the command can't work. And I think I should modify the adb both the host and the client side.Would you please give me some suggestions?

I have a couple of tablets but my primary is my Xoom. I'd like to use the HDMI output and the USB to connect to a multitouch screen that I have. I've seen some older hacks that are resistance hardware touch screens that are more hardware. I'm wondering if this is remotely possible in the newer version of android like ICS on the Xoom.

IŽd like to create some visual referents for an app and I think being able to control any led of the device would be the best choice. Does the sdk allow us to control (by code) the intensity and turning any led on/off? If so, how?

Can we use ANY Android device to replace a WiiRemote (even partially?)
I believe the Motion Sensor requires IR but the actual connection is Bluetooth.
there was a forum post on the EVO forum specificaly talking about using the EVO for this purpose but I wanted to open it up to any and all devices (with Bluetooth)
EVO Post: [URL] .....
It would be useful on all non-MotionControl Wii Apps like classic games Emulated classic games & TV/Movie apps like Netflix -- none of which requires the Motion Sensor.

Anyone has experience with controlling an external device from an Android phone via the ISB interface ? I am thinking about using an external camera connected to the Android via the USB port; that would allow me to take pictures with higher resolution or with different optical lenses, like a FishEye.

I am looking for a way to remote control my android device (Motorola Xoom & Motorola Droid). I assume this will have to occur via Bluetooth but I am open to any option (wifi?)I'd like the following functionality in the remote:
- Launch Music Player
- Launch Maps / Navigation
- Play / Pause / Next Track / Previous track
- Launch Voice Search
- Launch text search
The official motorola Xoom Bluetooth keyboard has physical buttons for many of these operations (maybe not navigation or voice search) but this device is far too large to use as a 'remote'
My ideal situation would be to find a small Bluetooth remote designed for something like this. I've been looking at getting a Wiimote and the app that allows you to map its keys to keystrokes. Are there keyboard shortcuts for these operations?
I also noticed many of the keyboard shortcuts require the 'Search' key (i.e. Search+'b' launches the browser). What if I got a generic bluetooth keyboard without a 'Search' key - what is the alternative keypress?

What I need is a way to control Android device (s) from PC via Wi-Fi. I found a lot of apps (and Desktop programs) to do it, but I didn't found a way to View OR control the Android device WITHOUT ROOT. I work on the company which asked me to find a way to do this without root with their Android devices. After googling a lot I started to think that where is no way to do this, because either way I need to root them . Is it true or maybe there is somewhere an app which could do this? It doesn't care if it's paid or not.
I have downloaded and tester these apps:
MyMobiler - Doesn't work because when I restart Android device, app doesn't start WiFi, just keyboard mode only. I need that when the app starts it should run itself and start WiFi automatically.
VMLite VNC Server - Don't know why but it didn't worked for me. Just cannot start server from the browser.

Is it possible to control an Android device with a Bluetooth headset? I have a friend with a Windows phone who can listen to and reply to text messages as well as initiate calls through his bluetooth headset without touching the phone. It's very very cool, and I don't know that my Android has an answer to it. I would love to be able to do this on my Android and to use Evi through my bluetooth device. I have FlexT9 from Nuance, but it seems to require that I speak into the phone's microphone, as does Evi.
I have a rooted HTC Thunderbolt running das Bamf (don't remember the version) and a Plantronics Voyager Pro headset (same headset my friend with the Windows phone uses to control his phone).

This guy is running Windows 8 and is able to see an 'ASUS like' device on his computer. It looks like he can control it as well... Here is a link to the YouTube video: [URL] ....
What app he's using? Is this possibly emulated?
He says that if the page gets enough traffic, he'll offer up the details. I went through and tried to search for it on XDA but nothing matches the way his app looked.

Why does every android device have 15-step volume control? Why doesn't it have a smooth slider like Windows or ios? Surely it can't be hardware limitation? Because I've had cheap phones and expensive tablets, and they're all the same.

Can someone explain a couple of very simple concepts to me - I'm interested in mobile devices running android and how they are identified over networks. Some scenarios: Device is connected over WiFi - presumably the device has a standard IP address as with any host and can communicate with any other android host over TCP/IP (assuming it knows the participating device's IP? device is connected over bluetooth - how are devices identified in this case? device is connected over mobile operator's network - this is the one I'm interested in and confused by - is there anyway for two or more devices to discover each other and communicate via the mobile operator's network? How does a device communicate with a backend server in this scenario? In other words, how do apps and devices communicate when not connected to a WiFi network?

Samsung Canada is wanting to develop an android app for the OS and its galaxy phone line. Our development team suggested an idea, the Multi-Cam Director App. The more votes/comments/likes the app gets, the greater chance it has to be funded and made. Take a look below and support the android development community! "Presenting the Multi-Cam Director app for Android. This app can pull live videos captured from devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant in real time and edit them together in a fast and seamless manner. The best part? You can create vibrant and high definition quality videos about anything (concerts, news, events, parties) right on the device and upload them to You Tube, Face book, etc. in an instant." Check out the app on Multi-Cam Director and follow us on twitter @vansung.

I am getting this multi-touch events in my application for which the logs are shown below.Multitouch is not working in my application.Does it mean that there is some problem with framework or my application.
Sequence:Just two fingers pressed to the screen, dragged and then lifted both.
Inputdevice: ID[0] Down
Inputdevice: ID[0] Down
Inputdevice: ID[1] Up
Inputdevice: ID[0] Up
I think for the last event it should have been ID[1] instead of 0?? Am i right? Is it a framework problem or some problem with my application?

Ok So I've gone through several tutorials on the web. I understand how the pointerCount works , I can get two points, etc, etc. My problem is I am trying to implement a game control, i.e. dpad and some buttons. The "buttons" are actually TextView objects with images. I Implement OnTouchListener Interface. my onTouch Method gets called when it should. The problem is if I have finger #1 on button a then press finger #2 on button b my OnTouch() method is called with the view of button a, not button b. Fine then I will just get the bounds of the buttons and see if they intersect with the points clicked. No luck, It seems as though the points that come in the MotionEvent are not relative to 0,0 , but to some other coordinate system. I would have thought all points were relative to upper left of screen.
Here is my code.
CODE:.................

Does anyone know about a software keyboard that would replicate the experience of using an old-style phone keypad, without the predictive stuff?
I mean one where you could tap a button once for A, twice for B, three times for C? (similarly the next key would be 1=D, 2=E, 3=F, etc.)
I would think this would have the advantage of being much more accurate than the standard keyboard (where it can be a little tricky to hit the right key), whilst avoiding the unpredictability of predictive texting (with this scheme, you always get an 'O' when you press the '6' area 3 times, you don't have to worry about the software trying to second-guess what you might have wanted).
I've tried out a number of apps, handycent keyboard is in the right direction, but does the predictive stuff; slidetype is a nice idea, but still not totally convinced...

How do I map the device Y axis to the screen Y axis?I can't figure this out.I'm the developer of Tricorder, and I'm trying to make it so that the accelerometer and magnetometer indicators I draw always point in the right direction. On the G1 phone with the slider closed, all is well. But when I open the slider, I end up showing that gravity is pulling me to the left (if the phone is held with the display vertical). So, I know that the device, and hence sensor, Y axis is always in the direction of the earpiece; and the screen Y axis changes when I open the slider. And I know that I can use remapCoordinateSystem() to change the device axes to match the screen axes. But where do I find out what the device's orientation is?In other words, how do I compute the correct values for the X and Y parameters to remapCoordinateSystem()?
Configuration.orientation seems quite useless.Suppose it is set to LANDSCAPE.What does this mean?Does it mean a device which is "naturally" portrait (i.e. the sensor Y axis points to the narrow end), and which has been turned into landscape mode?If so, which way was it turned?Or does it mean a device which is naturally landscape? In other words, LANDSCAPE could mean that the screen axis is off from the sensor axis by +90, 0, OR -90 degrees. Not much help.So how do I do this?Obviously I want my app to work on all devices, not just the G1 phone.

I have a standalone GPS enabled data recorder in my car that can function as either a USB host or device. (Its a class 0x00h USB device). I currently connect to it via a WM 6.5 app running on my Palm Treo 750. I would like to port my WM 6.5 app to an Android phone. (I don't have a specific Android phone in mind, I would like it to be as generic as possible).Replicating the GUI is not that difficult, but I am having trouble getting started on the USB communication. I'd appreciate it if someone could point me towards an example, or the appropriate tutorial.
