Android :: Market Server Unavailable - Routine Maintenance
Jun 13, 2010I clicked on the Market from my phone but it says "Server Unavailable". I am a new Android user, is Saturday night routine maintenance or is it just me?

View 1 RepliesI've recently won a Dell Streak 5, but it appears to have been shipped without the Market or Play apps - when trying to download through the Google Play site, it tells me to open the shopping bag icon on my device - unfortunately, their isn't one!
I had a Dell Streak previously (until some git stole it on a train - I will find you Mr Thief, if you're reading) so i know market is available on the device - my g-mail account even contains all the old apps i have paid for when i was last using the same device
i'm aware i can probably install non-market apps using apk files, but due to laziness i really want to avoid this.
So I used my phone as a storage-device connecting it to my computer via USB earlier today, and just now I notice that I can't browse my photos or music. It says:
"Your content is unavailable because your phone is being used as USB storage. Disconnect USB to access your content."
Before unplugging the phone earlier, I rightclicked the little icon at the bottom-right of my computer screen and chose "disconnect storage device", after which I received notification that it was then safe to remove the device. Is there something more I should be doing, a similar setting in the phone? Or did it just bug and I need a reboot?
Is there a timer within Android that can be set for a given interval and when the interval has elapsed to send a signal back to a listener routine inthe main programme? Something like the way a button reacts when clicked.

View 6 Replies View RelatedHow much have people played around with this app? I find it both amazing and scary. Only had it running a couple of days, but very curious to see it mapping my location history. Has anyone tried the so called "routine" learning features, where it alerts you if a friend comes within range when your outside your routine locations? How long did it take to suss out your routine?
I love the idea of this thing coming onstream just as the festival season kicks off. "Navigate to Jennie" is going to a lot of fun in a big crowd! But then won't Latitude be constantly alerting me everyday of the festival? Could get annoying! But I love the idea of going out on a night and using latitude for everyone to meet up. The only snag is the map scales we have currently aren't detailed enough to make it really useful. But what other uses have people found for it? Another thing I don't understand is that Google My Tracks and Latitude seem to duplicate their functionality a bit - why do they overlap them? Latitude could really be a lot of fun. Or a lot of trouble. Any opinions?
I am madly in love with my captivate like some of you may know, but it has kinda hit me today that having to kill so many tasks that frequently seems a bit much and it makes me wonder if
A:I am doing something wrong or closing the apps that I run wrong,
B: there is some maintenance involved with these phones? Maybe not defragging, but the same ideas...do they get cluttered and slow? Should there be so much available space on your internal sd? etc etc... or
C: The phone is built to handle what I can throw at it...or maybe even a "D:" i don't even know about?
I found a problem with the Market yesterday:
Upload a new APK version 134 After the upload finishes, cancels the upload Upload a new APK (different than the last uploaded file, but still version 134) Publish
10 minutes later I found my app was missing from the Market. I went to Developer Console and it asked me to agree to new license agreements, so I did. At this point, my app's status is again visible from the Market. I felt satisfied and went to sleep.
Next morning I got a flood of e-mails saying that my app shows "Download Error" in Market, and no one is able to install or update. I tried myself and say "404" error in logcat. Apparently the APK has been lost by Google server.
I uploaded a new version (just rebuilt and bumped version to 135), and I verified that the app can be downloaded again.
I guess the moral of this story is to always verify that you app can be downloaded after uploading ....
Because of some firewall issue, I need to know the IP address of android market. However, after I google it, the only information I got is the port number of android market(i.e. 5228). Does anybody know the IP address of the server of android market?
View 2 Replies View RelatedA couple of days ago, the battery went from 8:00am right through to 5:00am (i.e. 21 hours) with around 2 hours of phone calls, about half with bluetooth, probably 50 texts and maybe 15 minutes of WiFi. After all of that, it still had 50% left according to the battery widget I have. Unbelievable! I had changed nothing from the previous day, in terms of settings, applications etc. The next day, it was back to it's usual 15 hours before getting down to about 10%. I have absolutely no idea why it decided to give me a decent day!
View 6 Replies View RelatedFor some reason I can't seem to install the recent maintenance update. I've been notified three times, but each time I try to install it either hangs at the rebooting screen (before shutdown, not during) or says your phone will reboot, but doesn't and the screen just goes away.

During purchase process from Android Market, users are brought to the screen to enter their credit card info. When they save the data from this page (Done button), they get a Server Error or "attention, a server error has occurred".
Started happening around August 3rd, 2010, and has been fairly continuous since. Limited response from Google so far, but supposedly they are working on it.
There is a convoluted work around, (make sure gmail account is synced to phone, go to checkout.google.com on a PC, enter cc info there, then go back to Market and make the purchase). But Google Checkout and Android Market need to fix this.
I suspect the actual error is thrown by Google Checkout, since they are the ones storing the cc info.
I have been struggling with uploading my application to android market. I keep getting the same old "The server could not process your apk. Try again.". I tried for hours to change and modify my AndroidManifest.xml file but no luck.
Here is my my AndroidManifest.xml:

I'm in the UK and tried to buy some apps for the first time today, when registering a card I tried debit card and amex credit card but both times I got server error retry or cancel.
Is this a google checkout issue or am I missing something I need to do first?
Anyone else getting a server error when trying to connect to the market?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI need to find out whats wrong with my android market. When i click on the ICON it says these words:
Attention: A server erro has occurre. Retry, or cancel and return to the previous screen. (i hit retry)
Then a message comes up: Sorry! The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. (then hit force close)
I was looking for per-application control over retry until and other license settings from the developer console. This appears not to be available. Do I implement a more lenient ServerManagedPolicy by twiddling with these settings and associated preferences in ProcessServerRequest? My app operates fine in airplane mode, and I can anticipate it being used for extended periods of time where internet connectivity is unavailable.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been getting an error message all day. everytime I try to go into the market to update apps I get the message "A server error has occurred. Retry, or cancel and return to the previous screen." I can hit retry 42 million times and it will not connect.
I've rebooted, pulled the battery, cleared the cache, I even tried uninstalling the market updates; figuring that it would connect and I could re-update, but nothing has worked.
I have a hosting account at godaddy ruinning Linux. Is has MySQL. I am creating a J2ME application that runs on android and I was wondering if there is any simpler way to connect from j2me application to my MySQL server?
Is it required to install anything at my server? which I cannot do because of the shared account. Any way to just open the connection, update some data in the MySQL from j2me application?
I am taking over a project, and am trying to launch it in the Android Emulator. I get the following error in Logcat:

How can I make sure com.google.android.maps is included in my project?

I'm totally new to developing apps for android and am just getting started in flash CS5. According to most tutorials that I can find on the web I need to install an extension from adobe.
see this tutorial
Creative Sweet TV - Publish to Android 2.2 from Adobe Flash CS5 | Adobe TV
However, when I go to adobe's site they say that the extension isn't available anymore and will be integrated with their new version of Flash!!!!
Adobe Flash Professional CS5 Extension for Adobe AIR 2.5 - Adobe Labs
I just bought a new Mac to run CS5 and can't believe that now it looks like I'll have to upgrade my software, at more expense, in order to do something that was possible only a short time ago!!
In the ListView, the space key is available as an onKeyUp event but not as an onKeyDown event. Is it possible to override the ListView's default response (i.e., page down) to the space key?The reason I ask is that my application's ListView scrolls to the text (including space characters) the user enters.Although I can implement my application's ListView scrolling based upon characters from onKeyUp(),that results in unwanted list jumping anytime the user types a space.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy application for the most part prefers to be online, I have of course added an offline mode so that it works perfectly well when not attached and then re-syncs when connected again.I do, however, have an issue with the initial start of the main activity "black screening" on me while (i assume) it is waiting on a TCP timeout. It would be nice to query and skip the download step if the network is super slow.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have found an issue. I have a server that uses User Agent header to identify the device that is connecting to it. But when i connect to the server using HttpURLConnection i get no User Agent header, but when i connect with the browser it sends the correct User Agent.
For testing i am using an echo server that replies with the headers it found on the request.
When i connect with browser i get: eg: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 1.5; en-fr; HTC Hero Build/CUPCAKE) AppleWebKit/528.5+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.2 Mobile Safari/525.20.1 Up.Link/6.3.1.20.06.3.1.20.0.
But when i connect by code with UrlConnection i get: User-Agent: UNAVAILABLE.
Does anyone know we i get different behaviors? How i can i connect in the same way the browser does?
Can anyone tell me why my Wi-Fi MAC address says Unavailable and my 4G MAC address says Unavailable?
View 4 Replies View RelatedA few days ago the weather suddenly stopped working on the native News and Weather app. All I keep getting is the Sorry, weather currently unavailable message. The news however, is still working fine.
When I do a refresh it doesn't change and when I try to manually set my location it always comes back as "nothing found" no matter what I type in. I've tested it in different Wi-Fi locations as well as using 3G which all returned the same result.
This is weird because the weather is working and updating fine on my Fancy Widget app. GPS is also working fine.
I've tried rebooting the phone as well with no change.
I'm running the OTA version of Android 2.2 build FRF91 on my Nexus One.
Since the 2.2 update I have not noticed this till now....I have no problem sending a mms to my daughter and mother who are on my verizon account but when I try sending a mms to someone that is not on my verizon account but they have verizon they get it or get "message expired or unavailable" if they are on another carrier they just never get it.....I have pulled the battery and it still does not work....
