Android :: Mark GMail Emails As Read
Sep 9, 2010
I am wanting to know how once I have read an email on my GMail app, for the email to be marked as read on the GMail server. What currently happens is whatever emails I read on my phone, are only marked as read on my phone instead of on GMail itself, so when I open up Thunderbird (or GMail on the web), I get a load of emails what are 'new', when infact I have read them on my phone!

my phone is showing that i have over 2000 new emails in my inbox gmail inbox, all of them are from april and earlier (unless I get a new one today, then of course that shows up). Is there a way to delete all the old messages, or at least mark them all read so i dont have an icon on my screen that reads 2341?

Like the title states, looking to update more often (Get emails as they arrive), and not at 20 minute intervals or however often it updates. Possible?

I can't see the emails that were sent/received prior to getting this phone and syncing up the email account. I can see the folders that I've created a long time ago but nothing is in them. I read a couple of threads saying that I should enable labels but I'm not sure how to do that on the Incredible. I don't have that option under "menu" for it.

I'd like to be able to mark all email as read without clicking through each one. In addition, I have done so from the email web interfaces (verizon netmail and gmail) but it does not sync to the EVO, even though I manually sync the device.Any help here?Is this Sprint not playing well with Verizon and Google?

I switched from WM6.1 to HTC Hero. In Android, I am unable to mark all messages as read. Now I have more than 99 unread messages. Do I have to go through every single email to make it unread? Can I mark all messages as read instantly?

Maybe I'm having a senior moment, but its been driving me nuts for weeks where is the facility to select some or all of the unread emails in a mailbox as being read?I'm using HTC email widget (the one showing individual emails per screen if that makes any difference)

I've searched all over and cannot find a way to mark Read SMS text messages as Unread. I get lots of texts and sometimes don't want to address specific ones until later. On my BB and other phones, I could mark as Unread, so it would stand out later when I could deal with them. There doesn't seem to be an option in the initial menus for texts.

I know this is posted all over android forums, but I just wanted to see if there is a solution yet. I get 30-40 emails a day in my gmail account (the only account I use). I typically check them on a PC, but if I am out of the office, I will check them on my Sprint HTC Hero. If I have read the email on my PC, there is no reason for me to open it on my phone except to update the notifications as to how many emails I have left.It would be nice to keep my notifications up-to-date as to how many unread emails i have. So when my phone shows that I have, say, 30 new emails, is there a way to go into the basic mail application, select all emails, and mark them as read? Or do I have to do it one by one. Or is there an app on the market that has better functionality for email and I can ditch the standard one.

I added a POP account to my Incredible and it brought in "x" number of messages and marked them as UNREAD. When I log into this POP account on the PC, these messages are all READ. How can I mark them all as READ without having to open each message individually? When I had a Blackberry, it had an option "Mark Prior Opened" or "Mark All Prior Opened".

I'm assuming this is the easiest thing in the world. I just can't figure it out. I have 2 POP email accounts and I'm looking to delete several messages without having to click on the X next to each one. How can I delete ALL the emails in a certain folder (inbox, trash, sent, etc...)

Is there a way to mark text messages as read right from the notification bar? I hate when someone responds with something short enough that I can read it right from the bar. Then the only way that it will not show up as a new message on the message icon or be bold in the list, I have to click on it, open the message app, and then back out of it. Not that big of a PITA just kind of annoying when I already know the full message.

I am receiving many emails from different accounts (approx 6 different accounts) and I would like to have a way to read the emails from the notification panel and mark them as "read" or "delete".
And, in the mail app, the best will be with a consolidated view for unread messages.
I don't want an application that "proxifies" our data (man in the middle; and they have the password of our mailbox).

So this thing just started within the past week. My phone's stock gmail app will show new emails so I look at them and then they are all read, showing 0 new.But when I login to the web browser version, 5 minutes or even later(up to hours later), the web browser gmail is not updating to show that I already read the emails.I'm on JH2. So maybe it is a bug with the firmware?Or maybe a setting got changed but I'm not seeing how to handle the issue.

I know this has most likely been discussed many times. But I am looking for a decent email widget.
At the moment I am using the default htc email widget, however when ever I read an email from my gmail account it doesnt update the read status so it still shows as unread.
I would like one that would update the read status and possible the support for unified inbox so I can see new mail from hotmail account and gmail.

I have the Incredible running 2.2 just installed K-9 to use as the email program. For some reason it is deleting my emails after i read them. I have checked the settings, and there appears to be no way to stop it. This was not a problem in 2.1.

1. I send an email to my G1 (not Gmail... just ordinary pop3 email)
2. I get the notification OK.
3. The email applications says "RedMist________________(1)"
4. So I click on RedMist, and then Inbox
5. It shows the email subject and then, within 1 or 2 seconds, the email disappears. without me clicking to view the email.
6. No matter what i do i cannot view this email again.

I've had my G1 for about a week and am still exploring all its possibilities. I've searched around on this forum and can't find anything regarding this. I have it set up to check my email once an hour to save on battery (not gmail, my Comcast account. I wasn't ready to sell my soul completely to Google just to use this phone!) I work on my computer all day and naturally read emails on the PC as they come in, and it's kind of annoying when 45 minutes later the G1 notifies me of an email that I've already read. Is there an app that will let you configure the phone to only retrieve unread emails? I've searched superficially in the phone but the menus seem pretty general and not able to do this.

I got my 2 gmail accounts (as POP) and my isp email account (as POP also) in my K-9 email client.
When i receive emails they appear in inbox just normaly. But if I leave the inbox and come back in, they have disappeared. I just cant figure it out, what kind of setups I have to have to keep the read emails shown?
I have the same 3 account in my laptop and k-9 doesnt delete the emails from server, because I can download them when I use my laptop email client.

I have tried pressing keys on the keyboard (if only there was a ctrl+A function) and looking under every menu i can find. Does anyone have any idea as to how i could do this?

I think we all would agree that the native email application in the Captivate leaves a lot to be desired. One of my biggest peeves is that I can read, or mark as read, a message and then a few hours later it shows as unread again. I have 4 inboxes and this can really get confusing. Anyone else running into the same issue and discover a fix?
