Here is my ArrayAdapter. I would like to make this more efficient by following the ViewHolder pattern:

ViewHolder pattern improves ListView scrolling framerate, as seen in following example:

Is it possible to keep this pattern while using different kind of Views for different rows?
In other words, is it possible to do something like:

i tried to design a simple a sqlite related apps .but when i try to inflate my data in listview using view holder.it's getting error.i cannt understand how to debug it.my code is---

I made a pattern lock for handcent but I can still view those messages on the stock sms.
Is there a way to make a pattern lock for stock sms or prevent messages from handcent from being read on the stock sms?
What happens if I enabled the pattern lock by updating the setting LOCK_PATTERN_ENABLED, but have never set a pattern? I would check, but I don't want to reset my phone (I don't see a way to clear the lock pattern). Does anyone know?

i can implement the QSB on my app using onSearchRequested() method.i have 4 column in my table. when i was type in the QSB. it will give some suggestions on the Suggestion window. how to do that? searchable dictionary example shows the dictionary provider class to retrive the suggestions. but on that no data inserted. then how they getting the suggestions. can you explain me what are the steps we have to follow or tutorials, sample codes are most thankful.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThere are certain application which are default available on Android and certain applications available freely in market place. Greader is an application not available default in the Open source package on web to download.
1) Is it legal to install Greader as an application on the devices when it is shipped to customer? if yes, what is the best way to do it? Can we simply use the apk file of Greader and install it on device? Any other better ways?
2) When the applications are built, it will also have lot of dependency on the hardware availability on device. If there is an application developed for T G1 Mobile using the GPS hardware then this application cannot work on another device which does not have GPS hardware. Since we have market place for Android today and mostly targetting for T G1 mobile, how do we ensure that users must not able to install it on devices that does not support all the required hardware for device? There are few ways to deal with it.
a) Have market place specific to each device
b) The application developers has to clearly document what is the expected harwdare for the applications to work so that the users are aware of whether would work on the device or not. This is mostly manual then.
c) Ideally we should ensure that the application installation must happen only if before installation, the compatibility check passes. This is possible only if we bring in a framework design for this structurally.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWe wanted to follow-up. By now, you should have noticed that the installs metrics for your applications have been restored. We identified the problem as occurring with application updates only, have made some changes recently that should resolve and prevent this problem. Please let us know if this error persists.
If we can assist you further, please let us know. In my case, things have not changed at all. Downloads are increasing (1550) and active installs stabilized at 29% (the value before the drop was 44/45%). So, indeed active installs are increasing again - 29% is stable since three weeks - but the original percentage was not restored. Now, I don't know what to think... Maybe the problem is not solved, maybe in my specific case the active installs really dropped for a while (but it's curious that it only happened for a while...). BTW, I didn't release any new upgrade since then (I have a new one almost ready, but I'm beyond schedule because of personal problems) - and maybe the count would fix itself with new upgrades...
What would you do now? Is there anybody else for which the problem was not solved?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm running into difficulties overriding an ArrayAdapter to be displayed in a ListActivity. The ArrayAdapter is filled asynchronously. What I'm trying to do is add a special "sentinel" object that sits at the beginning of the list to show the progress of the computation. Ultimately this may be a progress bar, but right now I am just using a TextView as a placeholder. The problem is that the sentinel seems to get inserted multiple times into the list - not just once at the beginning. It *seems* to be appearing once per "page" of list data (so if 8 list items fit on the screen, my sentinel appears as the 1st, then 9th, then the 17th, etc..), but that interpretation may not be accurate. While maybe not how ArrayAdapters were intended to be extended, I thought something like this should work by simply overriding getView() to show my custom TextView for index.

How would i put a vector into my array_spinner?
I have a strange problem with one of my ListActivity. I have overrided the default ArrayAdapter in order to customize my list. I have then filled the adapter with an ArrayList.
If I insert an element on the list and then call notifyDataSetChanged() on the adapter everything works fine.
But if I insert an element at the END of the list and then call notifyDataSetChanged(), the new element doesn't appear ...
And finally if I override getCount() on my adapter like this :

I need some simple databinding for a Spinner. I want to display 2 items for each dropdownitem.
So when the user clicks the spinner I get a list like code...
I understand this can be done when using a Cursor, according to the databinding info on android dev. Like code...
However, I don't get my data from a database, so I don't use a cursor, I use a ArrayAdapter. Unfortunately it looks like there is no support for databinding with this adapter.
Is there a way to do this?
I am going to try and root my phone tonight so that I can install the new Fresh Rom. I always see people saying that you should read and read and read before you root. Do I really need to read and read and read when there are step by step instructions to follow? Also, at what point of the process of rooting are you most vulnerable to bricking your phone?

But now I want to keep the list of items dynamic, i.e. I want to be able to add/remove items from the selection list at runtime. However, when I call adapter.add(item) or adapter.remove(item) I always get a UnsupportedOperationException, even though the Javadocs of the ArrayAdapter class describe these two methods as to be usable for exactly that intended purpose.

These views need to added or removed whenever, they also need to be able to be display in a display bow beneath the gallery. How do I do this?I looked at the doc file for arrayadapter but it requires me to use a reference Id for each view I add, but each view is all java coded. Should I just use setId upon creation of the view and just throw that id into the array adapter, or is there a way to create one without using resource id's?

However, when I call filter('test') on the filter nothing happens at all (or the background-thread is run, but the list isn't filtered as far as the user conserns).
I have subclassed ArrayAdapter to set the color of text to RED if the string does not contain 100%, this has been added to a ListView. The problem is that some of the rows show as red when they contain 100%.
